Pre-Requisite:Successful completion of CCGPS Coordinate Algebra

Topics Covered:This is the second course in a sequence of courses designed to provide students with a rigorous program of study in mathematics. It includes Similarity, Congruence, and Proofs, Right Triangle Trigonometry, Circles and Volume, Extending the Number System, Quadratic Functions, Modeling Geometry, and Applications of Probability.

Grade:The semester grade will be calculated as follows:

* For students enrolled in year long Analytic Geometry with Support certain assignments will be counted towards an elective credit.

Materials:Required:Pencil, paper, notebook (3-ring binder), compass, protractor with ruler edge, and scientific calculator-preferably TI30XS Multiview

Optional: Dividers, index cards

Assignments: We will work in class each day from bell to bell. Homework is not busy-work. It is given to reinforce

the material you learned in class or prepare you for the next lesson. Know that you will be expected to spend time each day reviewing math at home. VERY IMPORTANT: In all work, your process is as important as your final answer. You will be expected to show how you arrive at any answers or conclusions. You must box in your final answer.

Make-Up Work:

When a student is absent from class (excused), they have five days to make up missed assignments. Getting and completing make-up work is the responsibility of the student. Students are given advance notice of tests and must take them the day he/she returns to class if absent on test day.

Late work:Late work for each unit will be accepted only up until the unit test and a maximum grade of a 70 will assigned. It is the student’s responsibility to get their missing work.

Test Retakes:

Students who meet the following requirements will have the opportunity to improve test scores during the midterm and end of the course cumulative test.

Requirement: Students must fully participate in all review and remediation activities to qualify for test replacement.

Notebook:Students are responsible for keeping a mathematics notebook. The notebook is considered a resource for future math classes and for Milestone review. Students are expected to keep their notebooks organized and bring them to class each day.

Tutoring:I am available before school on Tuesday and Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 7:55 a.m. for tutoring. Please make an appointment before coming in early to ensure my availability. Tutoring is a privilege. If a student does not fully participate in class and make an effort to learn the material, they will not be permitted to ask for tutoring before school.

Classroom Expectations:1. Come to class prepared with necessary materials.

2. Be attentive and participate during class.3. Be on time.4. Allow others to have the right to learn without disruption.5. Be respectful & honest.

*All rules and policies in the HCHS student handbook will be strictly enforced in this class including those listed on CHEATING, TARDIES, & ELECTRONIC DEVICES. *Electronic Devices are only permitted for specific standard based activities at teacher discretion. Disciplinary action in regards to electronic devices will occur at the teacher’s discretion.
