BREAKTHROUGH: CIPLAS MEDICATION A WORLD FIRST

New ARV drug for kids

A

global pharmaceutical company

based in Bellville last week received

approval from Americas Federal

DrugAdministration (FDA) for a new paedi-

atric HIV/Aids medication.

Cipla claims their innovative newmedica-

tion, Lopinavir/ritonavir (LPV/r), is the

worlds first paediatric oral pellet of its kind

for treating children and infants with HIV/

Aids.

The medication is said to be derived

through the use of melt-extrusion technolo-

gy. Current paediatric HIV/Aids medica-

tion comesmostly in liquid form, but Ciplas

new pellets are powdered and enclosed in

capsules, and meant to be sprinkled and in-

gested with breakfast.

The pellets are to be sprinkled on sweet-

ened porridge for infants and administered

to them, said Cipla CEO Paul Miller.

The breakthrough stems from collabora-

tive research with the clinical trials unit of

the University College of London.

Their efforts were centred around devel-

oping a novel child-friendly formulation

and the subsequent FDA approval thereof as

part of an emergency plan for Aids relief.

in the fight against HIV/Aids,

he said.

Ciplas chief medical officer

Jaideep Gogtay, cited that ingre-

dients Lopinavir and Ritonavir

were preferred in paediatric an-

tiretroviral patents.

This unique drug delivery system is a

breakthrough in paediatric specific treat-

ment for infants, he added.

The traditionally available

antiretroviral liquid formula-

tions and tablets have their own

challenges when it comes to

treating infants.

Their formulation is specific

to children weighing 5kg and

more, and who are on semi-solid

food, he said.

And the drugs are just in time:

UNAIDS cites about a third of

children born with HIV who go

without treatment, die before

their first birthday and half die before they

turn two.

TygerBurger contacted a number of parties

to learn just how this global innovation im-

pacted the local market.

House of Thembiso is a place of safety for

babies up to 24 months. They take care of

abandoned HIV-positive babies or those

with other physical or mental disabilities

until they can be adopted.

Sonja Vos, a spokesperson for House of

Thembiso in Durbanville, said the babies

they take care of, aremuch too small to ben-

efit from the powered medication.

Our babies are just weeks, days old. We

are not allowed to administermedication to

them in their milk formula. We work very

comfortablywith the current dropsweuse,

Vos said.

Best suited for older babies

Thembiso has sister branches in Good-

wood and Kuils River. Dalene de Meyer is

the house mother of the House of Thembiso

in Kraaifontein.

She is responsible for, among others, the

babies medication, which is administered

according to a strict schedule twice daily.

Our babies get their antiretrovirals in

liquid form, but that is basically because

this is all they are able to consume. It has

to be delivered to thempunctually, she told

TygerBurger.

Theyuse twodifferentkinds, oneofwhich

has to be delivered once a day not five

minutes before or five minutes after the

stipulated time and the other once daily,

every 12 hours.

Dalene says it very rarely happens that

they get older babies in that are on solid

foods, and thus able to have Ciplas LPV/r

administered to them.

Our babies are three or four months old

when they come in. Only at about six

months do they start on solid foods.

Unless a doctor permits us to use any

medication in theirmilk,we simplydrip the

current antiretrovirals into their little

mouths, she said. This new medication

would definitely be suited for older children

and toddlers.

The Treatment Action Campaigns Mar-

cus Low, head of policy, lauded Cipla on the

development of LPV/r.

They should get credit. There are a

bunch of issues with children taking

ARVs, he said.

Basically, the more options we have, the

better. Not all ARVs come in liquid form, so

thats one issue. At the moment there is a

real problem with some of the ARVs being

either too big and then thewrong dosage for

children, he said.

Low said some of the liquids were known

to taste unpalatable to children.

It is important to remember that taking

ARVs is a lifelong commitment. So even if

the newmedsmake things just a little better

in something youre going to have to use for

the rest of your life, then its good, he said.

Insufficient treatment options

Low said there was a general problem

with making medication that children

could consume.

In that sense, a drug like this is a result

of hard work from different people to try to

make medication specifically aimed at con-

sumption by children.

The Drugs for Neglected Diseases (DNDi)

had been working specifically on this prob-

lem, Low said.

On their website the DNDi says current

treatment options for HIV-positive children

were insufficient.

Little investment has been made to en-

sure the safety and efficacy of antiretrovi-

rals in treating children, or to develop child-

appropriate formulations.

The website lists as an urgent need an im-

proved first-line therapy for children under

three years of age that should be safe, easy

to administer, well-tolerated and palatable,

heat-stable, readily dispersible, and dosed

once daily or less.

A

would-be burglar lay hiding under a

residents bed while security guards

searched the house for a suspect.

This was reported by the District Group

after the man tried to burgle the residents

home in Welgelegen last Saturday.

The resident (a woman) phoned in at

12:35 to report that someone was in her

house while she was home, Gawie Venter,

a spokesperson for the security company,

told TygerBurger.

An officer of theirs attended the call with-

in five minutes and was assisted by others

shortly, Venter said. At first inspection, the

officers searched and cleared the house. On

inspection they found the suspect had

gained entry into the home through a side

window that had been broken.

Venter said the resident confirmed her

purse had been stolen. Officers found a

backpack and some clothing on the scene.

After some enquiries the items turned out

to be similar to those of someone who had

broken into a security complex in Plattek-

loof that very morning.

That suspectwas arrested, but the police

just dropped himat the police station,Ven-

ter said.

As our officers were leaving the scene,

the resident phoned in again and said she

could see something was moving under her

bed.Venter said the responding officer ran

back inside, turned the bed over and found

the suspect hiding underneath.

He was detained while the police were

summoned to the crime scene to take the

suspect into custody, Venter said.

As the suspect was being loaded into the

police van, our officer noticed sports equip-

ment and a radio lying at the back of the

van.

The suspect admitted to having stolen it

out of a vehicle earlier that day. Our officer

suspected it was the same vehicle that had

flagged him down earlier that day.

He took photos of the goods and tracked

down the owner of the vehicle,Venter said.

SPCA gives Stodels a thumbsup

n a recent article in our paper, petting

zooswere lambasted by the SPCA for not

having proper facilities to take care of

their charges.

One of these was the small facility at the

Stodels Nurseries branch in Bellville.

Now, about a month later, the Bellville

manager told TygerBurger had that article

stood over for just one week, they would

have had everything in place in accordance

with the SPCAs recommendations at the

time.

Thiswas the viewheld by Justin Emrich,

who had in the intervening weeks done

most, if not all, of whatwas expected by Sto-

dels from the SPCA.

Weve been given the thumbs up by the

SPCA on their last visit, Emrich told Tyg-

erBurger during a visit to the premises on

Saturday.

A number of obvious changes had been

made to the enclosure housing several ani-

mals including two lamas, a pony and sev-

eral chickens and goats.

Adaptations made

The living conditions of the animals in

this popular petting zoo came under scruti-

ny when an irate member of the public

threatened with legal proceedings after a

visit to this Stodels branch.

Emrich said subsequent to that visit,

they had staff from the Animal Anti-Cruel-

ty League, the SPCA and Cape Nature com-

ing in to investigate the alleged derelict

circumstances of their animals.

He explained that a number of recom-

mendations were made and that his staff

had just begun implementing these

changes, when the article Petting zoos

come under fire, was published on 6 May.

In the interim, all of the adaptations have

been made, but Justin is on a roll: There

are certain thingswe are considering bud-

get allowing to make life even more com-

fortable for the animals, he said.

This included expanding the current pad-

dock housing the mentioned animals, all

the way upwards to include another length

of grass.

Up until Saturday his staff had already

elongated the paddock by breaking down a

fence that used to separate the animals.

Sprightly new stables have been erected,

and visitors can now see which stable is

meant for which animals.

Weve added a lot of signage every-

where. Although the animals had quite per-

functory water troughs, we decided to in-

stall more modern troughs, he added.

In addition, the animals are taken for

more regular walks, but Emrich said a vet

advised against taking the pony, Bonzai for

too strenuous walks.

The vet said 45minutes should do. Bonz-

ai is old and has joint problems and cannot

manage the two hours of walking that were

recommended for him.

Big plans underway

His team also removed a too-randy male

goat. But not before hed impregnated one

of the females before his exit, Emrich

laughed.

Emrich added theyd also moved all the

exotic birds into their own enclosure, and

he was of a mind to enlarge that cage soon.

At TygerBurgers visit, the llamas had

been sheared, and they, as well as Bonzai,

had on new winter jerseys.

Emrich said theywere also budgeting for

putting up a huge signboard denoting the

origins of all of their resident charges.

We have quite a number of species and

some of them are really exotic. Like our

chickens, for instance, who are very expen-

sive. Then you get people who want us to

sell our chickens to them! Emrich said.

Emrich said if Stodels had learnt a single

lesson from the entire episode, it was that

they would please even the most irate cus-

tomer.

ver 500 children were finger-

printed, weighed and meas-

ured at the Pick n Pay Hyper

on Saturday morning as part of a

child protection drive by the

Brackenfell police.

I thought my guts were going to

fall out as panic took over, says

Dessie Rechner, founder of the

Pink Ladies when describing her

state of mind on the day her grand-

daughter went missing in a shop-

ping centre.

Fortunately her grandchild was

later found hiding in a changing

room, but this grim experience

prompted Rechner to start the My

Little Fingerprints Project, in

conjunction with the South Afri-

can Police Service two years ago.

With this projectwe fingerprint

children and collate all the neces-

sary informationneeded thequick-

en a search in the case of a child

going missing, she says.

Every child is my child

The information sheet with the

prints, complete description of the

child and a recent photo are then

kept in a safe place by parents.

Thevast differencebetweenour

offering of this service and that of

similar organisations, is thatweof-

fer this service free of charge.

There can be no price placed on the

life of any child and it is our strong

belief that every child ismy child,

an ethos that we are actively at-

tempting to reinforce in communi-

ties across SouthAfrica, she says.

Rechner added the number of

unidentified deceased children

who are found and buried without

names is astounding.

The sooner information is dis-

seminated the better the chance

the child will be found. And in the

unfortunate case where a child is

found deceased, the fingerprints

can then be used to identify the

child and bring closure to their

families, she says. In Brackenfell

99% of all missing children cases

are teen runaways, according to

W/O Erica Crous.

They are usually found within

two weeks when it is discovered

that they ran away from home due

to difficult circumstances, Crous

says.

Missing cases increasing

Neither theBrackenfell Police or

the Pink Ladies provided local sta-

tistics, but according to informa-

tion provided by Missing Children

SA, 89 children were reported

missing to them in the Western

Cape between 1 June last year and

31 May this year. Only 68 of these

children were found.

These numbers are based on

cases reported to them and do not

reflect all the cases reported to

SAPS, read a press statement is-

sued by the organisation lastweek.

According to the Missing Per-

sons Bureau, a child goes missing

every five hours in our country. In

2013 they recorded 1 697 cases of

missing children reported to the

South African Police Service. Our

case load increases every year

not necessarily only because more

individuals gomissing, but also be-

cause more people become aware

ofMissingChildrenSAand the ser-

vice we render, it was stated.

More awareness needed

Reasons children are reported

missing are categorised. Runa-

ways account for 45%, parental ab-

duction for 1.2%, stranger abduc-

tion for 0.85% and confirmed hu-

man trafficking for 0.42%. General

or unknown reasons account for

the most.

On a daily basis we are striving

to make more and more people

aware of the reality of human traf-

ficking. We are sure more cases re-

ported to SAPS as well as to our or-

ganisation are because of human

trafficking, but at this stage it can-

not be proven. According to the In-

ternationalLabourOrganisation it

is estimated that 1.2 million chil-

dren are trafficked each year. Fur-

thermore, 32 billion dollars profit

is generated annually from human

trafficking, Missing SA stated.

Parent Michelle Fischer from

Kuils River said she first became

aware of similar fingerprinting

projects while living in the USA.

Now that we are back, I am elat-

ed that we can do it here. I will defi-

nitely sleep better at night.

as norm by die Waterverordening ingesluit word, sal dt die tarief wees wat geld. Dit kan

egter later na gelang van verdere vereiste beperkings hersien word.

Residensile tariewe: Algehele styging in inkomste uit die groep is 10.82%,maar

individuele klinte sal waarskynlik verskillende stygings waarneem op grond van

werklike verbruik. Die verskil tussen die gemiddelde en werklike styging spruit

uit die verhaling van die tekort aan inkomste uit die hulptarief vir blok 1.

Verbruikers wat 450 kWh per maand ontvang, sal dieselfde persentasie styging

waarneem, ongeag die tarief wat vir hulle geld. Daar is dus geen verandering in

die subsidievlak wat hierdie verbruikers op die hulptarief ontvang nie.

Gratis basiese elektrisiteit: Hulptariefklinte wat gemiddeld minder as 250 kWh

per maand ontvang, sal n gratis basiese toevoer van 60 kWh kry, terwyl diegene

wat gemiddeld tussen 250 kWh en 450 kWh per maand ontvang n gratis basiese

toevoer van 25 kWh per maand sal kry.

Die tarief vir residensile kleinskaalse gekoppelde opwekking kry n tweede blok

by in pas met die huishoudelike tariefblok 2 om te voorkom dat verbruikers wat

besonder klein opwekkers installeer n groot verlaging in hul rekeninge ontvang

sonder dat hulle in werklikheid enige elektrisiteit opwek.

Die kategorie Klein kragverbruiker 1 met die buitespits-kombinasie word sedert

1 Julie 2012 tot slegs bestaande klinte beperk. Die buitespits-komponente styg

ook met n bogemiddelde bedrag om hierdie tarief uiteindelik uit te faseer.

Die tarief vir die kategorie Klein kragverbruiker 1 ondergaan n

geringe strukturele aanpassing in pas met die bevindinge van die

voorsieningskostestudie.

Tydspesifieke tariewe is herstruktureer om pariteit tussen die

mediumspanningstarief en EskomMegaflex te verseker.

Kommersile tariewe ondergaan n effens bogemiddelde styging as gevolg van

die verhaling van die subsidie wat vir die tydspesifieke tarief vir Atlantis voorsien

word.

LETWEL: Maandelikse diensheffings word bereken as die daaglikse diensheffing,

vermenigvuldig met die getal dae in die rekeningtydperk.

n Verbruikstariefverhoging van 8.33% vir vullisverwydering en 9.31% vir

ontvang, sal teen 1 Julie 2016 uitgefaseer word.

Wysigings aan die halwetontarief vir spesiale afval is bereken om die helfte van die

volletontarief te wees.

Die omskrywing van agterplaasbewoners is verander ommet die beleid oor

Top 5 Bellville Box learners

to be chosen in CBD project

The top five groups of learners tasked with

the unique opportunity to design an innova-

tive design concept for Bellvilles CBD, have

been chosen.

TheGTP, InnovateSAandThinking chose

the top five groups on Tuesday 2 June.

The Bellville Box competition for high

schools is a collaborationbetween theGreat-

er Tygerberg Partnership (GTP), Innovate

SA and the Thingking designer-maker con-

sultancy.

With this innovation and design chal-

lenge, high school learners in the Greater

Tygerberg area had the opportunity to help

solve urban challenges in their community.

The following eight schools participated:

Parow High, Cravenby High, Fairmont

High, Delft Technical High, Goodwood Col-

lege, Fisantekraal High, Florida High and

The Settlers High.

The challenge required learners from

Grade 9 to 11 to think creatively around how

to re-designurban space in theBellville CBD

through the implementation of a parklet,

or similar design structure.

Learners participated in teams andunder-

went a series of design workshops.

These consisted of three groups fromFair-

mont High School, one group from The Set-

tlers High and one group from Delft Techni-

cal High School.

These five groups will get the opportunity

to print 3Dmodels of their designs on Satur-

day 20 June at Africas greenest hotel, the

Cape Verde.

The winning team will then work with lo-

cal designers to manufacture and assemble

their Bellville Box solution which will be

launched in October.

The Bellville box will be implemented in

Teddington Street Bellville.

June is World Elder Abuse Month and in

abid to raise awareness for elderly people

with dementia or Alzheimers disease a

workshop will be held on Friday 26 June

in Bellville.

Liesel Nel, chief executive officer at

Brigadoon Lodge, a home for people with

dementia in Durbanville, is the presenter

of the workshop.

Elderly people experiencing risk fac-

tors such as dementia and Alzheimers,

caregiver dependence and social isolati-

on are vulnerable to abuse, she said.

This workshop will illuminate the

burden of elder abuse in SouthAfrica, the

evidence base for its detection and pre-

vention and address different types of

abuse, including physical, financial ex-

ploitation, emotional abuse, neglect or

sexual violence, Nel said.

Brigadoon Lodge at 3 Murray Street in

Durbanville, which provides accommo-

dation to 22 residents, was opened by Nel

, a nursing sister, in March 2014. It is ma-

naged by herself, Elseline Rorich and JC

Hanekom.

At Brigadoon Lodge, a programme ba-

sed on Montessori principles, recollecti-

on and recognition therapy, as well as

sensory stimulation is followed.

Our residents enjoy daily meaningful

activities, based on the needs and inte-

rests of each individual. This provides

the person with opportunities to mea-

ningfully interact with others and with

their environment.

They also presentmonthlyMemoryCa-

f eventswhere families can socialise and

support each other. The Memory Caf

events are presented on each first Wed-

nesday of the month from 10:00 to 11:00.

The workshop will be held on 26 June

from 09:00 to 13:00 at Chrismar Villas in

Bellville.

for pensioners, refreshments included.

Horskool Brackenfell plaasvind.

Tydens die skole sal graad 11- en 12-leer-

ders die kans kry om hersiening en eksa-

menvoorbereiding vir die volgende vakke te

doen: wiskunde, fisiese wetenskappe, besig-

heidstudies (slegs gr. 12), rekeningkunde, le-

wenswetenskappe en Afrikaans (slegs

gr. 12). Vanjaar word daar ook Engelse vak-

ke vir graad 12s aangebied, naamlikmathe-

matics, physical sciences en accounting.

Die vakke word per dag aangebied. Daar

kan dus vir n dag, twee dae of die hele week

ingeskryf word. Die onderrigtyd is ses uur

per dag en klasse sal daagliks om 08:30 begin

en om 16:00 eindig.

Judge Dennis Davis of Judge for Your-

self, is the host at this months talk of

the Tygerberg University of the Third

Age (U3A).

Davis will cover the recent defacing

and vandalism of public monuments in

the Bellville Civic Centres theatre hall

tomorrow (Thursday).

First up is Mike Berrys monthly DVD

show, this month featuring The Hubble

and James Webb Telescopes. Events start

at 09:45 for 10:00.

Daviss topic is entitled: Is there still

a place for colonial statues in South

Africa?

He will discuss the recent vandalising

of the Cecil John Rhodes, Queen Victo-

ria, Paul Kruger and other statues, and

if there might be something behind it

all, or if these were just criminal acts or

politically motivated.

All are welcome and the cost remains

Alta-sentrummik na

n wreldrekord

Wees deel van die Alta du Toit-nasorg-

sentrum se poging om n wreldrekord

op te stel.

Di sentrum in Boston nooi die

publiek om deel te h aan sy poging vir

die Guinness Book of World Records om

die grootste skilderkunswerk met

vingerafdrukke saam te stel.

Marina van der Meulen, fondswerwer

vir die sentrum, s die plan moes eers

by die wreldrekord-mense geregistreer

word en dt het 12 weke geneem. Daar is

toe besluit om n renoster te skilder, en

n klein deel van die opbrengs vir

renosterbewaring te skenk.

Die projek begin op Vrydag 12 Junie,

wanneer die sentrum sy ope dag het.

Alle belangstellendes sal vanaf 09:45 in

die sitkamer van die sentrum se Klein-

begin-koshuis bymekaar kom.

Die sentrum is gele in Lincolnstraat

Daar sal n inligtingsessie wees en

natuurlik die deelname aan die rekord-

poging.

WATER SUPPLY DISRUPTION:

WELGEMOED, LOEVENSTEIN AND

HOHEIZEN

Thursday 18 June 2015

The City of Cape Towns Water and Sanitation Department will be completing a zero

pressure test on the water supply feeding the water supply zone in Loevenstein on Thursday

18 June 2015.

This process will result in the disruption of the water supply to Welgemoed, Loevenstein and

Hoheizen from 22:00 until 04:00 the following morning.

Careful consideration has been given to the planning of this work to ensure minimal

disruption to the water supply in the affected areas.

The water supply network across the City is divided into reticulation zones which are smaller

and much more manageable sections of the large network for purposes of maintenance

and upgrades. This work forms part of the Citys Water Demand Management Plan and will

significantly reduce the occurrence of pipe bursts and the subsequent water losses.

Residents are advised to store water in clean sealed containers for domestic use during this

period.

The City regrets any inconvenience caused.

Jaarlikse TopKersprojek

weer van stapel gestuur

Die jaarlikse Kersprojek waarin n

organisasie lekkergoed vir bejaardes

insamel, is weer onlangs van stapel

gestuur.

Die toebroodjies vir oues-projek (Top),

se mikpunt vanjaar is sowat R30 000, en

hulle het reeds enkele donasies hiervoor

ontvang. Die groep vul le roomysbakke

voor die einde van Desember met

allerhande lekkernye en besorg dit dan

aan behoeftige seniors.

Die groep bied weer di projek aan

met die samewerking van die Teahmo-

groep, wat in Brackenfell diens doen.

Vorige veldtogte om geld in te samel

is onder die borg n bak-vaandel

gedoen.

Enige bedrag is welkom en sal van

die uiteindelike mikpunt afgetrek word.

Die vraagstuk oor die rol van godsdiens in

skole kom onder die loep by n gesprek deur

die NG Kerk Durbanville op Donderdag 18

Junie vanaf 19:00 in die kerkgebou.

Die sprekers by die geleentheid is Hans

Pietersen, voorsitter vandieOrganisasie vir

Godsdiensonderrig en Demokrasie (Ogod),

en dr. Johan van der Merwe, n predikant

van die NG Kerk Stellenbosch.

Pietersen, n Stellenbosse sakeman, was

in die nuus oor die hofsaak wat hy by die

Johannesburgse hooggeregshof aanhangig

gemaak het teen skole wat godsdiens beoe-

fen. Hy het gevra dat sekere godsdiensprak-

tyke by ses skole deur die hof verbied word.

Alhoewel na slegs ses skole verwysword,

sal die hofuitspraak uiteindelik die prakty-

ke by al die sowat 24 000 openbare skole in

Suid-Afrika raak, het dr. Tinus van Zyl van

die NG Kerk Durbanville ges.

Hoewel n hofdatum nog nie bekend is

nie, word daar gemeen dat die saak teen ein-

de vanjaar in die hof sal voorkom.

Meeste mense sal saamstem dat skole

kinders moet opvoed om die morele leiers

van die toekoms te wees, maar oor die rol

wat godsdiens in hierdie vorming moet

speel, loop standpunte uiteen, het Van Zyl

ges. Party mense voel dat kinders inlig-

ting moet kry oor die verskeidenheid van

godsdienste in ons land,maar dat godsdiens-

beoefening geenplek in die skool het nie, ter-

wyl ander weer sal redeneer dat moraliteit

en waardes nie gevorm word deur inligting

nie, maar deur beoefening. Hoe om gods-

diensbeoefening in n skool te doen, sonder

om inbreuk temaak op kinders se grondwet-

like reg tot godsdiensvryheid, is egter n ne-

telige saak, het Van Zyl bygevoeg. In die ge-

sprek salPietersenverduidelikwatdiemoti-

vering agter en doelwit van die hofsaak is,

terwyl Van derMerwe sy siening oor die on-

derwerp sal lug. Geleentheid sal gegee word

vir openhartige vrae en kommentaar vanuit

die gehoor. Enigiemand is welkom en diege-

ne wat direk betrokke is by skole as hoofde,

personeel of beheerraadslede, word spesiaal

uitgenooi omdie geleentheid by tewoon.Die

gesprek vind plaas in die kerkgebou van die

NG Kerk Durbanville op die hoek van Kerk-

straat en Weyerslaan. Dit is gratis.

die organisasie se bestaan in

Top is bekend vir sy uitreik-

projekte waarin toebroodjies

sioengeld te kry.

Die een spesifieke geleentheid wat uit-

staan, was toe Manie in 2010 met die W-

reldbekersokkertoernooi in Suid-Afrika

die oggend uitgereik het na een van die Sas-

sa-kantore. Vir die geleentheid was Manie

en syvrou,Christelle, tenvolle geklee indie

kleure van ons nasionale sokkerspan in die

gees van daardie tyd. Hy het broodjies uit-

gedeel, sowel as n pen met n

sokkerballetjie aan die agter-

kant, onthou Schwella.

Manie het skoolgegaan in die

ou Tiervlei (vandag Parowval-

lei) enwas op skool al n persoon

na wie jy kon gaan vir raad.

N sy skoolloopbaanhet hy by

die spoorwegpolisie aangesluit

en later by die Suid-Afrikaanse

Polisiediens, waar hy gevorder

het tot n offisiersrang.

Hy het later bedank om die sa-

kewreld te betree in die ver-

voerbedryf, waarvan hy ook n

sukses gemaak het.

Schwella s Manie het ook n

plaas besit in Pearly Beach,

waar hy met Kaapse fynbos en

heide geboer het.

Ons bring hulde aan die altyd vriendeli-

kemanwatManiewas, en gaan sy raadmis.

As Manie Redelinghuys jou pad gekruis

het, het hy n blywende indruk by jou ge-

laat. Hy was n persoon wat uitgereik het

na sy medemens. Rus in vrede, my ou
