Warren Buffett
Warren Buffett may have a magic touch with stocks but two stocks have
tarnished that touch for the year
Two stocks that Buffett owns Coca-Cola and Goldman Sachs are
completely missing out on the markets rally this year Since Berkshires
holdings in those stocks are so massive the declines sting that much worse
The holdings are based on the companys most recent quarterly filings with
regulators
Read More rsaquo Buffetts Blizzards invade Manhattan
The biggest losing stock for Berkshire has been Coca-Cola The stock is
only down 14 this year which may not sound all that bad But Berkshire
owns more than 400 million shares of the stock so the decline translates in a
$236 million loss for the famous holding company

He tossed up and climbers under the bus by declaring that he
doesnt think the top earners pay enough taxes (now that he has
made his billions) Note that he did not get indignant about not
paying enough taxes on holdings He thinks those are fine as
things are Apparently property tax should chiefly hammer the
struggling middle class for daring to own homes A hefty tax on
holdings would push him back over to the conservative ideals
because it would truly affect him in the same way that income
taxes affect climbers

The figures presented only show how the stocks have performed this
year What did he pay for those shares is what is needed to determine
loss or gain Just because a stock is off its high doesnt mean you lost
money In addition investment valuation should represent the lower of
cost or market value when financials are created and Im certain he still
has made money in relation to his purchase price What a very stupid
article

He tossed up and climbers under the bus by declaring that he
doesnt think the top earners pay enough taxes (now that he has
made his billions) Note that he did not get indignant about not
paying enough taxes on holdings He thinks those are fine as
things are Apparently property tax should chiefly hammer the
struggling middle class for daring to own homes A hefty tax on
holdings would push him back over to the conservative ideals
because it would truly affect him in the same way that income
taxes affect climbers

Warren Buffett may have a magic touch with stocks but two stocks
have tarnished that touch for the year
Its only tarnished that touch if you dont have a clue about value
investing for the long term Complaining about stocks trailing the market
for 2014 - for 5 months - is like the little kid in the back seat asking How
long before we get there 5 minutes after starting an interstate drive
Back in Aug 2011 I commented on these pages 7 value-based reasons
to buy Citigroup when it was $36share It fell to $23 in Nov 2011 but its
$48 now Thats an 11 avg annual gain from $36 But if you had
bought on my reasoning and only looked 3 months ahead youd be
cursing me for costing you 13 of your investment INVEST dont trade

Dear Mr Krantz do you actually get paid to write a story like this and to
try and sensationalize and misinform the readers Please look up the
word loss Mr Buffet has not lost any real money He may have lost the
opportunity to sell at a gain but the only way you can say he lost $500M
is if he actually sold the stocks He still owns the same amount of stock
no loss

He tossed up and climbers under the bus by declaring that he
doesnt think the top earners pay enough taxes (now that he has
made his billions) Note that he did not get indignant about not
paying enough taxes on holdings He thinks those are fine as
things are Apparently property tax should chiefly hammer the
struggling middle class for daring to own homes A hefty tax on
holdings would push him back over to the conservative ideals
because it would truly affect him in the same way that income
taxes affect climbers

This article is bogus Who do you know that has all winners in their
holdings Nobody to be exact Forgetting to mention the dividends these
2 stocks generate is irresponsible but we are accustomed to seeing that
here on a daily basis

Its not a loss until BRK SELLS the stock Pretty sure that is how
Buffett has taught them to make zillions-holding and perhaps ADDING to
holdings during down periods This article omits that very simple
concept Perhaps CNBC might want to extrapolate on the patience
principle instead of dumb over-hyped sensationalist headline clap trap

What a terrible and inaccurate title for this article The $500 million is
NOT Buffets personal losses This is for all of Berkshire Hathaway As
such this loss isnt Warrens - it is anyone who owns Berkshire stock
like ME Are CNBCs writers so incompetent and uneducated as to make
a mistake like that Warren Buffet himself does NOT own 400 million
