of threat- ening ¬ attitude of the clouds in spite- of the fact that Tip t ket sold on the grounds an enormous audience j I gathered to listen to the Chicago j Lyceum Lady quartette and Dr A C Peck of Denver both in the afternoon and evening In the afternoon the j quartette rendered a sacred concert which simply cannot be surpassed j Always enjoyable and entertaining- their music in the afternoon was ab- solutely inspiring Everyone regrets that their engagement is ended In the evening also their music was a pleasure and a delight to the ear The song of the bells was especially good I Dr Peck is a very eloquent talker I though differing vastly from both j Governor Folk and John Sharp WH Hams His descriptions of the old Jerusalem and the new were highly interesting I A magnificent surprise and pleasure was given to the audience by the presence of Mrs Mary H Armour the great temperance lecturer from Geor gia Mrs Armour made such a hit with the people last Friday that she was requested to talk again Sunday I night To use a mighty expressive- mode of speech Mrs Armour talks right from the shoulder using aI sledgehammer stroke With a voice intense with feeling she neither minces words nor thoughts but says what she has to s y without fear For she declares thai what she speaks she knows and knows she knows I Her arraignment of liquor and liquor dealers are given not in the wild rea- sonless ¬ method of cKrrie Nation but in the passionate but reasongovern- ed ¬ ardor of one who believes what she says and says it to make other be- lieve ¬ likewise The cultured orator burning with a zeal that must be re ¬ spected even if not shared has a way of holding the attention of such a crowd as gathered at the Chautauqua last evening almost against their will Many went to hear her or rather to see some sort of freak But within- ten minutes after she began talking everybody had dropped over to her side of the fence or else had wisely pretended that they did Apart from the subject matter of Mrs Armours lecture which last evening was a novel series of arguments against the licensing of liquor selling Mrs Ar ¬ mour is unconsciously very dramatic producing some exceedingly thrilling climaxes Her use of stinging sar ¬ casm and an extreme ridicule Is posi- tively ¬ bewitching One cannot help I being deeply interested and impressed j with her way of expressing her Ideas whether indorsing them or not Mrs ArmQur is undoubtedly one of the I best today woman orators before the public Tonight Monday and also this aft j ernoon the Parland Xewhall company will appear as the bell ringers Though they will be here several days they will give Their bellringing performance only twice this after- noon i and tonight Wednesday even- ing Miss Faulkner will entertain in a special BIG CROWD SUNDAY

Interest in the BellevueContinues UnabatedSu-

nday was a big day at the Belle-rue Chautaffqlia In spite of threat-ening

¬

attitude of the clouds in spite-of the fact that Tip t ket soldon the grounds an enormousaudience j

I gathered to listen to the Chicago j

Lyceum Lady quartette and Dr A CPeck of Denver both in the afternoonand evening In the afternoon the j

quartette rendered a sacred concertwhich simply cannot be surpassed j

Always enjoyable and entertaining-their music in the afternoon was ab-solutely inspiring Everyone regretsthat their engagement is ended Inthe evening also their music was apleasure and a delight to the ear Thesong of the bells was especially good

I Dr Peck is a very eloquent talkerI though differing vastly from bothj Governor Folk and John Sharp WH

Hams His descriptions of the oldJerusalem and the new were highlyinteresting I

A magnificent surprise and pleasurewas given to the audience by thepresence of Mrs Mary H Armour thegreat temperance lecturer from Georgia Mrs Armour made such a hitwith the people last Friday that shewas requested to talk again Sunday

I night To use a mighty expressive-mode of speech Mrs Armour talksright from the shoulder using aIsledgehammer stroke With a voiceintense with feeling she neitherminces words nor thoughts but sayswhat she has to s y without fearFor she declares thai what she speaksshe knows and knows she knows

I Her arraignment of liquor and liquordealers are given not in the wild rea-sonless

¬

method of cKrrie Nation butin the passionate but reasongovern-ed

¬

ardor of one who believes what shesays and says it to make other be-lieve

¬

likewise The cultured oratorburning with a zeal that must be re ¬

spected even if not shared has a wayof holding the attention of such acrowd as gathered at the Chautauqualast evening almost against their willMany went to hear her or rather tosee some sort of freak But within-ten minutes after she began talkingeverybody had dropped over to herside of the fence or else had wiselypretended that they did Apart fromthe subject matter of Mrs Armourslecture which last evening was anovel series of arguments against thelicensing of liquor selling Mrs Ar ¬

mour is unconsciously very dramaticproducing some exceedingly thrillingclimaxes Her use of stinging sar ¬

casm and an extreme ridicule Is posi-tively

¬

bewitching One cannot help I

being deeply interested and impressed jwith her way of expressing her Ideaswhether indorsing them or not MrsArmQur is undoubtedly one of the I

besttoday

woman orators before the public

Tonight Monday and also this aft jernoon the Parland Xewhall companywill appear as the bell ringersThough they will be here severaldays they will give Their bellringingperformance only twice this after-noon
