GWRA do not pack and post items but recommend you use mailboxes etc in Worcester who will

collect pack and ship your items, they regularly deal with around 80 customers per auc on so are

used to the type of items we sell and can advise on costs pre auc on.

1. Purchase Price. Each lot is subject to a Buyer's Premium of 18% inc VAT.

Any lot(s) purchased online through our online bidding portal GWRA Live Bid will attract a buyer’s premium at the rate of 18% incVAT on the hammer price. IMPORTANT Any lot(s) purchased online through the The saleroom.com will attract a buyer’s premium atthe rate of 24% inc VAT on the hammer price.

2. Inspection. Each buyer, by making a bid for a lot, acknowledges that he satisfied himself fully before bidding by inspection orotherwise as to all the Sale Conditions, the physical condition of and description of, the lot including but not restricted to whether thelot is damaged or has been repaired or restored. Viewing of lots will be permitted by Appointment only, there will be no general viewingallowed under the current Covid 19 Government guidelines.

3. Property and Risk. Legal title will not pass to the buyer until the lot(s) has been paid for in full and the Company shall be entitled toa lien on any sold until the purchase price is paid in full, but each lot is at the sole risk of the buyer from the fall of the hammer. Eachbuyer shall forthwith give his or her full name and permanent address.

4. Principal. Every bidder shall be deemed to act as principal unless it is agreed with the company that he acts as an agent on behalf ofa named principal.

5. Removal of Goods.(a) No purchase shall be claimed or removed until it has been paid for. All purchases shall be paid for and removed at the buyer's riskand expense. Sold lots transferred to the Companies storage facility are not insured and the company will not be held responsible ifthe same are lost, stolen, damaged or destroyed, and all lots not removed within One calendar month of the end of the sale will incura warehousing charge of £1.20 inc VAT per day should the storage fees total the selling price then the company will re sell them byauction or privately without notice to the buyer.(b) In the event of any failure of the buyers to comply with any of the above conditions the damages recoverable by the seller or theauctioneers from the defaulter shall include any loss arising on any re sale of the lot, together with the charges and expenses in respectof both sales, and any money deposited in part payment shall be held by the Company on account of any liability of the defaulter tothem or to the seller.

6 Payment. The Company is only able to accept payment from successful bidders by Personal Debit Card, Personal or Building Societycheque and Bank Transfer (£15 fee for overseas transactions) We do not accept any payments by Cash, also Please note we do notaccept any Credit Card’s from within the UK & EU, customers outside of these countries may pay by Credit card but a 3% charge willbe added to the invoice total.In accordance with HMRC Money Laundering Regulations Cheques drawn by third parties, whether in the Company's favour orrequiring endorsement, will not and cannot be accepted. There is no limit for cheque transactions, however, cheques in excess ofrecognised limits will only be accepted if supported by proof of identity and address, i.e.: a UK Driving Licence or Passport. Details fromsuch must be clearly written on the back of any cheque. In all cases, cheques must be supported by a valid Bank Card. Buyers unknownto the company must arrange for suitable references or utilise Building Society cheques. Noncompliance may delay the release of lotspending the clearance of cheques.

7. Commission & Internet Bidders. Invoices will be emailed out on the day after the auction, Payment is due within 5 days of the Sale,If paying by cheque, goods will not be released until cheque clearance. The English fusee movement with rectangular plates and turned pillars has been cleaned and oiled. The mahogany case with carved decorative ears and lenticle window is in excellent condition complete with LMS brass oval numberplate 11869. A lovely clock in full working condition, with pendulum and key, ready to hang.


174 Highland Railway 14in dial mahogany cased regulator railway wall clock. The rectangular plated movement has shaped shoulders, six spoke wheels, deadbeat escapement, Harrisons maintaining power , a gut line and a wooden pendulum rod with a brass cased bob and is in good clean condition. The original dial which has been lightly restored displays the makers name P.G. WILSON INVERNESS who were one of the main suppliers of clocks to the Highland Railway Company. The mahogany case is in nicely restored condition and stands 65in tall. A superb example In working order but not checked for accuracy complete with pendulum, key and weight. Note there is an identical clock to this one now on display at the Strathspey Railway Boat of Garten station.

185 London Brighton and South Coast Railway silver cased pocket watch with AM Watch Co Waltham Co movement 4139447 which dates the movement to around October 1889, key wound and key set. The hall marked sterling.925 silver case has marks for Birmingham 1889 and is hand engraved inside LONDON BRIGHTON & SOUTH COAST RAILWAY 387. The dial is clean and has a couple of small hairlines. In good working condition complete with key. Rare to find a silver cased example.

186 London Passenger Transport Board nickel cased pocket Watch with Swiss 15 Jewel movement signed Lanco. Top wound and set the dial is marked Lanco and has 24 hour Arabic numbers and has a small hairline between 10 and 11. The rear of the case is machine engraved LPTB 2088. 208 London & North Western Railway official hand coloured plans for the Swansea lines Railways and Penclawdd Branches and extensions. This a large style LNWR plan and is very old and has been restored by British Railways. The maps of Swansea docks are particularly interesting and this covers almost all of the LNWR lines in the Swansea area. Measures 46in x 26in.

209 North Pembrokeshire and Fishguard Railway Great Western Railway official hand coloured plans for the lines from Clderwen to Puncheston and is dated 1902 and is in very good condition in a book type slip case which measures 12in x 7in. Note this line closed in 1937.

Allocated to Springs Branch, Brunswick, Edge Hill, Speke Junction, Stockport Edgeley and 6C Birkenhead Mollington Street from where it was withdrawn in July 1966. Scrapped later the same year at Drapers Hull. In original condition.

Allocated to Yeovil Town, Reading SR and 70C Guildford from where it was withdrawn in December 1960. It was then taken into departmental stock and numbered DS 682 and was used at Meldon Quarry and was the last of its class to survive being scrapped at Eastleigh in May 1963. Face restored.

362 Pullman Railway Coach luggage rack. Ornately patterned cast brass complete with wire mesh and coat hooks either end. Measures 11in deep x 51in wide. These were fitted in the 1930s First class Electric composite cars some of which worked on the Brighton Belle. A rare survivor in very good ex railway condition.

367 Worksplate HUDSWELL & CLARKE'S ENGINE No 1864 REBUILT AT 1972 CENTRAL WORKSHOPS LEEDS. Ex 0‐6‐0T built in 1952 upon completion of her rebuild at NCB Allerton Bywater Central Workshops. numbered S103, the loco worked at numerous collieries in the West Riding area of Leeds and was withdrawn in 1977, being among the last operational industrial locos in the Leeds area. The plate is hand painted and sawn from steel, marked out by pin punch. In as removed condition measures 13.75in x 9in.

Together with the perspex information panel from the buffet car explaining who and what Auguste's achievements and inventions were, measures 11.25in x 10.5in.

399 Worksplate PECKETT & SONS LTD BRISTOL No 1574 1920 ex M5 0‐4‐0 ST built to standard gauge with an open top cab and supplied new to the Gas Light & Coke Company, Beckton Essex, numbered No9. The Locomotive was scrapped in 1967. Oval engraved brass measures 15.25in x 8.5in, mounted on a display board along with its cast brass No9 numberplate, also included are various photographs and the original purchase receipt from North Thames Gas.

400 Nameplate BARCOTE MANOR ex GWR Collett Manor Class 4‐6‐0 built at Swindon in 1938 as order number 316 and numbered 7803. Allocated to Machynlleth, Oswestry, Croes Newydd and 84G Shrewsbury from where it was withdrawn in April 1965 and scrapped later the same year at R.S. Hayes/Birds Bridgend. In lightly cleaned original condition with some surface rust due to being stored in a damp place and has L 7803 stamped into the back indicating this is the left hand plate. The manor house is approximately eight miles South West of Oxford.

401 GWR brass cabside numberplate 4040 ex Churchward Star 4‐6‐0 built at Swindon in 1911 and named Queen Boadicea. Allocated to 84G Shrewsbury and withdrawn from there in June 1951 and scrapped at Swindon. Face restored a long time ago with faint boiler and class details visible in the rim.

402 Smokebox numberplate 6008 ex Collett King class 4‐6‐0 built at Swindon in 1928 and named KING JAMES II. Allocated to Laira and 84A Stafford Road from where it was withdrawn in June 1962 and scrapped later the same year at Swindon works. In original condition as stored since 1965. Note this is not the smokebox numberplate recorded as being sold at auction elsewhere six years ago and comes with original Swindon label.


403 Single line one engine in steam staff brass plated REDCLIFF SIDINGS ‐ BATHURST BRIDGE. Wood with steel ends in ex railway condition. From the former Bristol Harbour Railway which ran from Temple meads under St Mary Redcliffe Church to emerge at Bathurst Basin by the Ostrich pub and then on to Wapping Wharf. Measures 12.5in long.

408 Crosby Steam Valve & Gage Co Tri note locomotive whistle. Stamped in the bottom Crosby Steam Gage & Valve Co. Boston U.S. Pat Jan 30 1877 and measures 14.5in long x 4in diameter. Complete with valve, in lightly cleaned condition. It is believed that it was last used at the Flowers Brewery in Stratford Upon Avon as a workers time signal.

420 LNER platform lamp with original china glass lamp tablet MUNDESLEY ON SEA. The case is nicely restored and stamped LNER and stands 40in tall with the mounting frog. Comes complete with a cast iron balustrade mounting post measuring 44in tall. Mundesley On Sea was a former Norfolk and Suffolk Joint Railway station on the coast between Cromer and North Walsham which closed in 1964.

Moved to RFS Doncaster 07/88 and used mostly for RFS site shunting duties before being resold into preservation 01/98 to the East Lancs Railway at Bury. Cast aluminium in as removed condition measures 39in x 13.75in.


426 BR enamel Totem Roundel FF BRISTOL TEMPLE MEADS from the former Great Western railway mainline station in the heart of Bristol. This type of sign was only used here and at Birmingham Snow Hill on the Western Region although standard Totems were also used at both locations. In excellent condition, measures 34in diameter. Only a couple of totems are known to have survived from this station.

Allocated to Newport Pill, Neyland, Ebbw Junction, Banbury, Tyseley and 82D Westbury from where it was withdrawn in January 1962 and scrapped later the same year at Swindon works. In original condition as stored since 1965.

Withdrawn from 16E Kirkby in Ashfield in February 1966 and cut up by Birds at Long Marston in June of that year. Oval cast iron measures 9in x 5in, face restored.

460 Nameplate CLARENCE carried by ex BR class 08 0‐6‐0 diesel 08602 then transferred to 08785 09/90. Operated by RFS Engineering Ltd and numbered 004. 08602 moved to RFS Doncaster 07/88 and was hired out to Foster Yeoman Isle of Grain, Sheerness Steel at Sheerness and resold in 1990 to BREL Litchurch Lane, Derby. 08785 arrived RFS Kilnhurst 09/90 and became 004 CLARENCE. It worked at several industrial locations including Grovehurst Energy Sittingbourne, the Channel Tunnel and BASF Chemicals Seal Sands before being resold to Freightliners Ltd 07/97 working at Basford Hall Yard, Crewe. Cast aluminium in as removed condition measures 39in x 13.75in.

A large grey arrow is pointing to The Rising Sun Public House the bottom of the sign says NEAREST LNER STATION WOOD STREET and LONDON AND BACK 8D. Interestingly, a good number of local pubs are shown including Theydon Retreat, Grays Retreat and The Volunteer. In good condition with some edge loss measures 29in x 39in.

472 Caledonian Railway signal box shelfplate ORCHARDHALL SWING BRIDGE. From the bridge that crossed the Forth and Clyde Canal and carried the goods only Bainsford Branch between Fouldubs Junc and Carron Junc near Falkirk. Hand stamped brass in ex box condition measures 4in x .75in and probably dates from the opening of this branch in 1911.

475 Nameplate GLASTONBURY TOR ex British Railways class 60 diesel 60039. Built by Brush Traction Loughborough works number 941 and named from the start. Allocated new to Cardiff Canton in May 1991, nameplates removed in April 1997 and renamed Dove Holes. The Locomotive is still in service with DB Cargo after being refurbished in 2013. Cast aluminium in as removed condition and measures 59in x 10in.

476 Smokebox numberplate 47333. Ex LMS Fowler 3F 0‐6‐0T built by the North British Locomotive Company Glasgow in 1926 and originally numbered LMS 7333. Allocated to Wellingborough, Bristol Barrow Road, Rose Grove and 10D Lostock Hall from where it was withdrawn in November 1964. Scrapped the following year at T.W. Ward Killamarsh. In original condition.

477 Shropshire Union Railways & Canal Company cast iron sign re CYCLING ON THE FOOTPATH dated 3‐1901. Nicely restored measuring 15.5in x 26in. An uncommon sign.

478 London Midland and Scottish Railway Stanier Hooter type locomotive Whistle as fitted to Class 5 and 8F locomotives complete with operating valve and connecting pipework. In lightly cleaned condition, whistle measures 16in long and pipe work and valve 31.5in. A rare chance to obtain the complete assembly.

479 Worksplate LONDON & NORTH EASTERN RAILWAY DARLINGTON WORKS 1901 67337 ex North Eastern Railway Worsdell G5 0‐4‐4 T originally numbered NER 1695, LNER 7337 and lastly BR 67337. Allocated to Neville Hill, Starbeck, Hull Botanic Gardens and 51D Middlesborough from where it was withdrawn in March 1957 and scrapped at Darlington Works. Oval cast brass, lightly face restored, measures 9in x 5in and complete with renumbering strip. Comes complete with original BR paperwork dated 1962.

481 London & North Western Railway electric lever frame. A section from the Crewe South Junction Webb & Thompson All Electric frame installed in 1907. After the LNWR's experimental installation in Gresty Lane box, this was the earliest electric power frame installed in the UK so is of some historical significance. Measures 40in wide x 52in tall x 18in deep and weighs approx 400kg. The successful buyer will need to arrange collection from near Bath and the vendor is happy to help with loading etc. There are also a substantial number of additional castings, all shotblasted but unrestored, which would assemble into a further nine‐lever section of frame which will be sold with the complete frame.

488 Great Eastern Railway small Shunt signal arm. The cast iron spectacle plate has GER EC&JK LD clearly cast into it and the wooden arm still has all bar one of its original metal letters. A rare survivor measuring 38in long.

The Oxford Worcester & Wolverhampton Railway line diverged toward Droitwich and the Hereford line diverged toward Malvern. In excellent condition with normal edge chipping.

500 Nameplate LEANDER ex LMS Stanier Jubilee 4‐6‐0 built at Crewe in 1936 and numbered LMS 5690 and BR 45690. Allocated to 22A Bristol Barrow Road for all of its Post war working life and withdrawn from there in March 1964. Saved for preservation and now privately owned and certainly a famous engine. In totally original condition with green paint around the edge and red paint visible under the black, rear stamped with two dots indicating this is the right hand side plate.

501 Cambrian Railway wall mounted Platform Lamp with original station name paper lamp tablet ELSON HALT. The case is plated CAM RYL and is in nicely restored condition measuring 20in tall , 10in wide and 8in deep. Elson Halt was between Ellesmere and Overton‐On‐Dee and was closed in 1962.

520 Nameplate ELGAR ex British Railways class 92 electric 92009. Built by Brush Loughborough works number 1073 and introduced June 1994 carrying a transfer applied name of Elgar. After a period of storage, the cast Elgar plates were fitted May 1995. These nameplates were removed May 2009 and the loco later renamed Marco Polo. Stored Crewe EMD 2013 and still there. Cast aluminium in as removed condition and measures 26in x 9.75in. Sold on behalf of DB Cargo (UK) Ltd and comes complete with a certificate of authenticity.

522 BR(E) FF enamel sign GENTLEMEN with silhouette pictogram. Double sided with original mounting bracket. Both sides are in very good condition with minor chipping to one corner. Measures 36in x 12in. These signs were used at the ports like Harwich.

523 HST Intercity left hand facing Swallow as fitted to the British Railways Class 43 HST Power Cars. Stainless steel, measures 32in x 34in. In as removed condition.

525 Nameplate WOLVERHAMPTON STEEL TERMINAL ex BR class 56 56069. Built at BREL Doncaster in December 1979, named in July 1998 and name removed in January 2001. Locomotive transferred to France September 2004 scrapped at EMR Kingsbury in September 2012. Cast aluminium in ex loco condition measures 61in x 20in. In as removed condition, and comes complete with a certificate of authenticity issued by DB Cargo (UK) Ltd.

526 Cabside numberplate EBBW VALE SI&C CO LIMITED EBBW VALE WORKS No 40. Ex Kitson & Co Ltd works number 3133 built in 1889 and originally supplied to the Cardiff Railway for use at Bute Docks and numbered CR 30, it was absorbed into Great Western railway stock in March 1929 as GWR 691 via Wynne Jones a dealer in Swansea, It then went to Richard Thomas & Co Ltd, Ebbw Vale after purchasing the Ebbw Vale Works site from the receivers in November 1939 and named CWMCARN. It was scrapped in 1946. Oval cast brass, in as removed condition, measures 15.75in x 7.75in. measures 15.75in x 7.75in.

527 Worksplate GREAT NORTHERN RAILWAY CO MAKERS DONCASTER No 778 1898 ex Ivatt J4 0‐6‐0, later J3, originally numbered GNR 329, LNER 3329, LNER 4131 and BR 64131. Allocated to New England and 40F Boston from where it was withdrawn in December 1954 and scrapped. Oval cast brass, face restored, measures 12.25in x 7.5in.

528 BR(W) FF enamel Signalbox Board BODMIN ROAD. Measures 78in x 12in and is in very good condition with some small chips and a diagonal repair across the face. Photographs also show that these were also used as Running in Boards at this station.

In original condition.


533 A beautifully detailed Railway Signal Co. 5‐lever fully interlocked demonstration scale model lever frame with working gate wheel and mechanism together with signal box diagram which includes locking chart. The style of frame is representative of the first version of tappet locked lever frame manufactured by the company at its Fazakerley works between 1884 and the early 1900s. The model is thought to have been built early in the 20th century and is clearly engraved with the company's name. It is mounted on a wooden table with a brass base and stands some 20.5in tall. There is a minor fracture to the gate wheel locking mechanism.

534 Tyers No6 single line fibre tablet ALDEBURY JUNC ‐ BREAMORE from the section between Salisbury and Bournemouth which closed in 1964. In ex railway condition measures 4.5in diameter.

542 Single line staff BRANCH STAFF HALTWHISTLE ‐ ALSTON. Steel with Annetts key on the end. Measures 8.25in long. A former North Eastern Railway line closed in 1976 and now home to the South Tynedale Railway.

Allocated to 30A Stratford and withdrawn from there in March 1971 and scrapped later the same year at BREL Crewe. Oval cast brass measuring 11in x 6in. In face restored condition with TDN 3388 and B2528 stamped into the back.

550 Nameplate FLORENCE carried by ex BR class 08 0‐6‐0 diesel 08764 operated by RFS Engineering Ltd and numbered 003. Moved to RFS Doncaster 06/88 and resold 09/97 to the Port of Tilbury Freightliner Terminal. In between it worked at several industrial locations including ARC Machen Quarry, BREL York works, Flixborough Wharf, the Channel Tunnel, Sheerness Steel, Hartlepool Power Station and Tilbury Ports. Cast aluminium in as removed condition measures 39in x 13.75in.

554 GWR cast iron cabside numberplates a pair from 3770 ex Collett 0‐6‐0 PT built at Swindon in 1938. Allocated to Brecon, Oswestry and 84E Tyseley from where it was withdrawn in April 1965. Scrapped later the same year at Cohens Kingsbury. Both in original condition and a rare chance to obtain both cabside numberplates from the same loco.

No1, FURNESS RAILWAY COMPANY MANUFACTURED BY MESSENGER & SONS BIRMINGHAM, VICKERS GUN RANGE SIDINGS SIGNAL BOX. A superb pre grouping example in nice original condition complete with all glasses (blue is cracked), reservoir and burner.


556 A Railway Signal Co. 13‐lever demonstration scale model lever frame fully interlocked to represent the layout of a double line railway with trailing crossover and both up and down sidings. The frame accurately represents the final style of tappet frame produced by the company at its Fazakerley works from the 1890s until the cessation of production. The model which is engraved with the company's name stands 19in tall, is complete with signal box diagram and is mounted on a wooden display board. It is thought to have been built around 1910.

Made up on card to show completeness and accompanied by the original, square box with label MAY YOU AND YOURS FIND ENTERTAINMENT AT HOME IN SOLVING THIS JIG‐SAW PUZZLE ‐ IF ITS MESSAGE GOES HOME, YOU WILL HELP TO SOLVE A BIG PROBLEM FACING THE COMPANY. This is the rarest of all the Great Western Railway jigsaws, issued only to staff in the Goods Departments, it is known to have been rejected by them as intimidating and many were simply confined to the fire! This one is in excellent condition and the box is extremely good.

567 LNER rear lorry lamp stamped in the front LNER and brass plated LONDON AND NORTH EASTERN RAILWAY BARTON ON HUMBER. Complete with LNER reservoir and LNER burner. Stands 8in tall and is in good condition with a few minor pinholes to the case.

568 GWR cast iron cabside numberplate 4626 ex Collett 0‐6‐0 PT built at Swindon in 1942. Allocated to Cardiff East Dock, Abercynon, Dover Marine and 72B Salisbury from where it was withdrawn in March 1964. Scrapped the following year at Swindon Works. In original condition. Note: This was one of the Pannier Tanks that worked the Folkestone Harbour Branch and was the longest serving Pannier Tanks on the Southern Region.

Allocated new to 1D Devons Road and later stored at various locations and sold to DRS then Harry Needle. Recently sold privately and removed to the Caledonian Railway Brechin for preservation. Rectangular chromed cast brass measures 10in x 4.5in. Has been cleaned but still shows traces of BR blue paint, slight damage to left hand bottom corner.

570 Smokebox numberplate 61225. Ex LNER Thompson B1 4‐6‐0 built by the North British Locomotive Company Glasgow in 1947 and originally numbered LNER 1225. Allocated to Leicester (G.C), Gorton, Sheffield Darnall, Retford Thrumpton (G.C) and 36A Doncaster from where it was withdrawn from where it was withdrawn in June 1965. Scrapped later the same year at T.W. Ward Beighton. In original condition.

572 Lancashire and Yorkshire & London and North Western Joint Railway Bronze ships plaque, measuring 6in diameter. A rare survivor from one of the jointly owned and operated ships. In original condition with a nice patination.

573 Totem BR(W) HF BRECON from the former Neath & Brecon/Brecon & Merthyr station in central Wales, opened 1867 provided access to the Brecon and Merthyr, the Mid Wales, and the Hereford, Hay and Brecon Railways which were all completed about this time. A complex yet quite fascinating history. Closed in Oct 1962 to passengers. In very good displayable condition with some expertly executed restoration. Not a common and last at auction ten years ago.

579 Furness Railway wall mounted station platform Oil Lamp from Dalton station. The lamp case is in very good condition and stands 38in tall including mounting frog. The reservoir, complete with glass, is steel plated FRC DALTON STATION. The cast iron wall mounting bracket has the Furness monogram cast into it and stands 32in out from the wall.

582 GWR cast iron cabside numberplate GWR 357 ex Taff Vale Railway Cameron Class A 0‐6‐2 T built by the North British Locomotive Company in 1915 and numbered TVR 124. Renumbered by the GWR 357 at the Grouping. Allocations included Cardiff Canton and 88C Barry from where it was withdrawn in January 1956 and scrapped. In restored condition.

583 London Transport Underground one piece enamel target/bullseye sign SOUTH HARROW. In very good condition with a few small face chips, measures 44in x 36in.

584 A pair of Railway Signal Co. demonstration working scale model miniature electric staff instruments complete with bells and 30 staffs. The internal mechanisms, designed to work at 4.5 volts are created in miniature and have been tested as still in working order when connected together under power. Each stands approximately 11in tall and were built in around 1920 and are thought to be unique. The battery drawers are designed to take the now obsolete Ever Ready 1289 style of battery but could easily house an alternative battery pack.

Cast resin in as removed condition measures 20in x 17.5in, a rare chance to obtain a Class 50 crest.

610 GWR brass cabside numberplate 312 ex Taff Vale Railway Cameron A Class 0‐6‐2 T originally numbered TVR 42, then GWR 439 and GWR 312. Allocated to Barry and 88A Cardiff Cathays from where it was withdrawn in June 1956 and scrapped. Face restored with Caerphilly painted on the back. One of only ten ex TVR A class locomotives that carried brass cabsides.

611 Midland and Great Northern Railway 3 Aspect Handlamp stamped in the reducing cone and side M&GNJR and brass plated on the side M&GNJR 2344 GD. WRIGHT SPALDING. Complete with reservoir burner and all glasses. Lightly cleaned.


612 A Wise's patent staff with integral locked metal tickets dating from 1880 measuring 14in long. Used to demonstrate the principle of the patent (No.1030 of 1896) the staff is engraved A to B and B to A. The key for one set of tickets is present, as are two metal tickets at one end and three at the other. The back of the staff is engraved with the words 'Wises Patent' and 'McKenzie & Holland Worcester England'. Berkeley Deane Wise (1853 ‐ 1909) held various railway and architect roles including the Chief Engineer of the Belfast & Northern Counties Railway. Raynar Wilson's book Railway Signalling includes a drawing and description of the staff. A second such staff is known to be housed at the National Railway Museum in York.

613 BR FF enamel station sign BOOTLE NEW STRAND. In very good condition and mounted on an original totem bracket. This sign dates to around 1968 when the station name was changed from Marsh Lane & Strand Road. Measures 26in x 10in.

614 London Midland and Scottish Railway Stanier hooter type locomotive whistle. This is the upright version that were fitted to the Ivatt tank locomotives. Stamped B 4536 in the mounting boss and stands 14in tall in lightly cleaned condition.

624 Diesel locomotive flamecut Cabside Panel 25247 ex British Railways Class 25 built in 1964 by BR Darlington and numbered D7597. Allocated to 16A Nottingham and withdrawn from Carlisle in June 1983 and scrapped later the same year at BREL Swindon. The panel is neatly cut and has original painted numbers and data panel. In good condition measures 32in x 18.75in.

625 Nameplate and Badge. THE SCOTTISH HOSTELLER ex British Railways class 37 diesel locomotive built by the English Electric company in 1965 and numbered D6997, renumbered in 1974 to 37297 and 37420 in 1985. Delivered new to 86A Ebbw Junction and later to Inverness where it was named at Inverness station in June 1986, nameplates removed in May 2000. Rectangular cast aluminium in as removed condition measures 73in x 9.75in and badge 13in x 8.5in. Together with a Lima 00 Limited edition model of the locomotive with certificate in mint boxed condition.

It was used as carriage heating at Stratford before being withdrawn in October 1982 and scrapped in 1985 at BREL Crewe. The panel is neatly cut and has original painted numbers and also visible is its earlier number 31008 and data panel. In good condition measures 31.5in x 15.5in.

Built by Brush Loughborough works number 1083 introduced 12/94 and named from new first with transfer style name then cast plates fitted 04/95. It worked the first scheduled class 92 hauled train through the Channel Tunnel. Nameplates removed around 2014 ‐ 2016 while in storage. Currently operating in Bulgaria. Cast aluminium in as removed condition and measures 59in x 10in. Sold on behalf of DB Cargo (UK) Ltd and comes complete with a certificate of authenticity.

670 Furness Railway pillar mounted station platform Oil Lamp from Grange Over Sands station. The lamp case is in very good condition and stands 32in tall including mounting frog. The reservoir is steel plated FRC GRANGE OVER SANDS. The cast iron ornate balustrade mounting is in very good condition with slight loss to one of the decorative parts and stands 55in tall. There is a picture of one of these lamps mounted on a wall at Grange over Sands in Volume 1 of The Furness Railway by K. Norman.

721 Works Makers Plate ABB ASEA BROWN BOVERI ex Euro Tunnel Class 9 Tri Bo‐Bo Electric locomotive number 9014 named Lucia Popp. Built by Brush Traction in 1993 as works number 1041. Rectangular cast aluminium in as removed condition with 9014 written on the back. Measures 14in x 4.75in.

722 BR‐W brass cabside numberplate 8428 ex Hawksworth 0‐6‐0 PT built by W. G. Bagnall in 1951. Allocated to 84B Oxley from where it was withdrawn in October 1962. Scrapped the following year at Cashmores Great Bridge. Lightly face cleaned.

723 Great Western Railway Secret BALLOT BOX. Both brass slots are stamped GWR as are the locks. A lovely little item measuring 10in wide x 6.5in deep x 9in tall.

724 BR station sign ALIGHT HERE FOR ROYAL BIRKDALE GOLF CLUB ex Hillside station Southport. Screen printed aluminium in excellent condition measures 73in x 15.5in.

725 Nameplate KNOWSLEY HALL ex GWR Collett Hall Class 4‐6‐0 built at Swindon in 1931 as order number 275 and numbered 5905. Allocated to 87J Fishguard Goodwick for all of its post war life and withdrawn from there in July 1963 and scrapped the following year at Cooper's Metals, Sharpness. In good original condition.

726 Smokebox numberplate 5647 ex GWR Collett 0‐6‐2 T built at Swindon in 1925. Allocated to Didcot, Abercynon and 88J Aberdare from where it was withdrawn in March 1964. Scrapped later the same year at T. W. Ward Briton Ferry. In restored condition with a weld to the bottom right hand corner.

730 BR(S) FF enamel station sign TO SUBWAY FOR LONDON TRAINS with left facing arrow. Double sided with reverse side blank. In very good condition with a couple of minor face chips. Measures 48in x 18in.

731 Furness Railway oak cased slate display board for recording the consumption of the companies engines, starting at number 1 and ending at 129. Some numbers have been overlaid with later LMS locomotive numbers. A unique item and wonderful survivor, measures 20in x 16in when closed.


732 LNER Sykes Type TS 3 position block instrument, ivorine plated MAIN LINE TO WESTGATE NORTH, MAIN LINE FROM WESTGATE NORTH and PLATFORM LINE BELL FROM WESTGATE NORTH. In very good condition ex Wakefield South signal box stands 22.5in tall. Note these instruments date from WW2 and were built for overseas use, the LNER bought unused stock after the war.

736 GWR brass cabside numberplate 2860 ex Churchward 2‐8‐0 built at Swindon in 1918. Allocated to Cardiff Canton and 86E Severn Tunnel Junction from where it was withdrawn in March 1962 and scrapped at Swindon Works. Face restored with clear Class and boiler stampings in the rim.

737 British Railways cast aluminium depot plaque for Stewarts Lane depicting Battersea Power Station. Square cast aluminium measures 17.75in x 17.75in in as removed condition.

740 Smokebox numberplate 44014. Ex LMS Fowler 4F 0‐6‐0 built at Derby in 1921 and originally numbered LMS 4014. Allocated to Westhouses and 27E Walton on the Hill from where it was withdrawn in December 1959. Scrapped two years later at Central Wagon Co Ince. In lightly face restored condition.

741 Totem BR(NE) FF PONTEFRACT from the former Midland and North Eastern Railway station between Sheffield and York. In excellent condition with minor edge chipping. One of the few stations that carried these orange flanged totems.

742 A pair of Great Western Railway ash trays. One is circular pressed aluminium with the GWR roundel logo in the centre and measures 5.5in diameter the other is bakelite with a screw top and engraved GWR on the front in gold lettering, measures 2.25in diameter x 2.25in tall. Both are in excellent condition.

743 BR(W) enamel signal box door notice BRITISH RAILWAYS WESTERN REGION NOTICE NO UNAUTHORIZED PERSON ALLOWED IN THIS BOX BY ORDER. In excellent condition measures 11in x 8in.


744 LMS Presentation Shield THE SIR THOMAS WILLIAMS CHALLENGE SHIELD with a silver plate at the bottom 1952 THIS TROPHY BECAME THE CHALLENGE SHIELD FOR THE LONDON MIDLAND REGION LONDON DISTRICT AMBULANCE COMPETITION (DIVISION 1). Previous winners are shown on hallmarked silver discs which include St Pancras, Camden, Willesden, BRB Headquarters, Bedford and the last winner in 1993 Melton House. Sir Thomas Williams was a director of the London & North Western Railway. Measures 36in x 29in and is in very good condition.

745 Great Western Railway Hotels silverplate salt cellar base marked with the GWR Roundel and Mappin & Web complete with blue glass liner together with a small salt spoon marked with the GWR Roundel and Mappin and Webb and a small pair of sugar tongs marked with the GWR twin shield coat of arms and Elkington plate and date stamped 1929. All are in excellent condition. 3 Items.

746 BR(M) FF enamel signal box board WEAVER JUNCTION from the former box opened in 1961 and closed around 2012 and situated where the West Coast Main Line and Liverpool Lines connect. In later years the box board was moved inside the box and displayed through the front windows. In two sections 74in x 12in and 71in x 12in. Both in good condition with some face chipping.

747 Worksplate BUILT 1961 SWINDON ex BR Diesel Class 03 0‐6‐0 ex D2190, which was withdrawn from 82A Bristol Bath Road in December 1968 and scrapped at Birds Long Marston. Oval cast iron face restored rear original with 2190 chalked on the back. Measures 10.5in x 6in.

748 Totem BR(M) HF ROCHDALE from the former Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway station between Manchester and Todmorden. In fair condition with some slight fading.

749 GWR cast iron cabside numberplate 7326 ex Churchward 2‐6‐0 built at Swindon in 1932. Allocated to Didcot, Southall, Cardiff Canton, Hereford, Exeter, Laira and 83B Taunton from where it was withdrawn in September 1963. Scrapped at Cohens Morriston. Face restored.

750 Nameplate TERENCE carried by ex BR class 08 0‐6‐0 diesel 08331 operated by RFS Engineering Ltd and numbered 001. Moved to RFS Doncaster 03/88 and resold 05/06 to RT Rail. Worked at several industrial locations including Inco Europe, Clydach, Flixborough Wharf, Allied Steel & Wire Cardiff Docks, Hayes Chemicals Sandbach, the Channel Tunnel and for GNER at Craigentinny Depot. Cast aluminium in as removed condition measures 39in x 13.75in.

Scrapped the following year at King's Norwich. Face restored.

765 A McKenzie & Holland miniature divisible staff probably from Australia with removable (ticket) ends engraved Short Staff and Unattended Crossings.

766 LMS wall mounted platform lamp with original paper lamp name STAR CROSSING. The lamp case is embossed LMS. Star Crossing was a former LNWR station between Mold and Denbigh. In nice original condition stands 26in tall.

In very good condition with an area of expertly executed restoration in the lower left side of the bottom panel. An extremely rare totem that has only appeared once before at a railwayana auction 32 years ago and this is the same totem.

784 Worksplate AVELING & PORTER LIMITED ROCHESTER KENT No 10828. Ex 6 tonne steam roller built in February 1924 and registered as PR2046 scrapped in the 1960's. Oval cast brass face lightly cleaned. Measures 8in x 5.5in.

798 South African Railways dual language brass Cabside Numberplate 3471 Class 25. Built by the North British Railway Co in 1953 under works number 27343. This was one of the condensing locos and the plate is the original that was fitted before conversion to non‐condensing, the subsequent plates carrying the 'NC' suffix

799 A group of three National Traction Engine Owners and users association plates. Two enamel for 1916 and 1917 measure 7.25in x 4.5in in very good condition and one cast brass undated 7.5in x 4.5in.

800 Great Western Railway untitled C/I Gunpowder Van Notice referring to the placing of red flags and red lamps on the van when in sidings. In nicely restored condition measures 21.5in x 18in.
