Agenda

A FEW THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND AS WE TAKE YOU THROUGH THIS PRESENTATION

- We typically “gather” our parent community but because we cannot, this will be the procedure

- This video will be shared for you to view. Should you have any further questions, please be sure to fill out the Google Form provided.

- Once we have gathered information through the Google Form, we may provide the following: Question and Answer resources, possibilities for further virtual meets (if required), and/ or 1:1 scheduled meetings.

- On February 10, we will be presenting to your children (while they are with their grade 9 teachers but via Google Meet) and take them through the course selection process.

- If need be, individual appointments with administration or guidance counselling can be made to facilitate the course selection process.

- Please be aware that none of the selections made are set in stone and that they are subject to change (for instance, in the event a prerequisite has not been met)

- The presentation will be presented as if we are returning to a near-normal scenario

The quarter system is amazing. I love it and support it fully. It is easier to learn a subject when you have a full 3 hours because it enables you to get into the mindset of the class and allows you to focus on it longer.

I really enjoy the quarter system because it creates a lot less stress on me to balance many subjects at a time. It suits my learning style to focus on 2 subjects at a time.

We get lots of time to finish our assignments during class time when there is someone there to help instead of just taking it for homework.

I really like the quarter system and the two campuses. I just love my school!

Unique Opportunities…

● Study Hall – a place to get help, to catch up on tests and assignments, for quiet study

● Career Center – just what it says!● FNMI Success Center – for all students.● Wellness Spaces – places to de-stress.● Library/ E-Learning - places to study or

collaborate

We are CCH…● We start our classes

with prayer and proudly honor our faith.

● We are a Catholic faith community.

● We are more than the walls that surround us.

What next?● Have your child

complete his or her course selection – based on talents, interests and abilities.

● Avoid the “because my friends are doing it “ trap!

● Plan for the future – and let CCH get you there!

Rank the CTS clusters from 1 (top choice) to 8 (last choice).

If there are many courses within the cluster that interest you, please CIRCLE all those that you wish to take.

*Those students who wish to pursue French Immersion must circle Fr. RE 15 AND rank SPECIAL PROGRAM as #1, as well as circly French Lang. Arts (Immersion).

There are a few items to note:At the time of “printing,” there were many things still up in the air that require further conversation with our central office. These include:

a. Distance Learning - and what this will look like

b. At-home Learning - not sure if this will continue to be an option to students and parents/ guardians

c. Summer School - we still need to know if this will be an option this summer

d. Options that take students off-campus - ie: Hockey Academy - once again, at this time, this course offering will require further conversation

PLEASE NOTE:

What if I am interested in any of these? Just under the parent signature, please write in write in any of the items listed above (distance learning, at-home learning, summer school, or hockey academy).

● We will host virtual presentations for your child’s school/ class, to start course selection process on February 10, 2021.

● Students will each submit a white Course Selection sheet to their teachers immediately after the presentation.

● Course Selection sheets (blue) will go home for review by parents and signature.

● School Registration has moved to an ONLINE process - For a NEW REGISTRATION (outside the division), you may register after Feb. 22. For those students from feeder schools, watch for a “Re-Registration” form from School Engage wherein you will have to update your contact information/ demographics, etc. and where you will need to indicate that you are registering for Catholic Central (emailed on Feb. 1).

● We cannot enter course selections until confirmation of your child’s registration has been completed.

● Last day for all course selection is March 5, 2021.
