Platforms

Although we think of Twitter primarily as a tool to use on the Mac/PC it’s actually most widely adopted as part of the Mobile Market, in fact up to half of all the Twitter traffic originates on a Mobile device (Tablet or Phone)….making it one of the best tools for Recruitment.

So How Do I Recruit?

Twitter has many possibilities for Recruitment --- however for the purposes of this guide we will focus on two of them:

  Direct Sourcing   Talent Pooling/Branding

FollowerWonk

FollowerWonk is a great Direct Sourcing tool for Twitter – all you need to do to use it is sign in with your Twitter Account, and best of all it’s Free.

FollowerWonk

All you need to do is provide an email address then use the Search Bios function to find the candidates/prospects you are looking for, you can both follow them and connect (Tweet) with them from the FollowerWonk Interface

Talent Pools

Once you have used FollowerWonk and other tools to build up your Talent Community (and Directly Source) --- you need to provide good content to the community and engage with the conversations (via # Hashtags) and influencers.

But don’t worry you don’t have to make up all the content on your own

Talent Pools

Many Recruitment groups believe that it’s sufficient to just set up an AutoTweet of their current jobs, however experience shows us that only providing job tweets will lose followers and hardly ever lead to direct hires

You need to engage and become part of the conversation.

Talent Pools

TwitterFeed is a great system for taking any RSS feed and turning it into content for your followers.

To get started all you need to do is create your feed.

Go to a website that you know produces good content that you want to share with your followers --- in this case we choose Mashable.com a favorite with the geek set. Once there find the RSS feed icon and click on it.

Once you have located the RSS feed you want to copy the URL of the feed

Take the feed back to Twitterfeed and then Name your Feed and enter in the RSS URL --- you can also test the feed to ensure that it will properly parse.

You can also set some rules to ensure that you don’t Spam your Twitter stream and also so that you don’t get blocked from Twitter --- oh and add some Hashtags to your posts to reach the right audience

Once your Feed is properly set up you can choose which social platforms to publish the content to.

Once you have configured your Feed properly you will be done, now watch as your interesting content is RT’ed and as you pick up followers that are also targeted by interest.

Of course, you can’t automate everything, you have to be part of the authentic conversation yourself so that when you do contact a potential candidate on Twitter they know more about you as a person --- and are more likely to respond.
