prologue ; the unforgettable first encounter .

"Hi, my name's Lee Kikwang, and welcome to the CO-ed dorm," you said with a smile. I replied with a nervous smile, while you grabbed my hand and gave me a tour of the dorm. You introduced me to the other members. You were also the one who introduced me to Hyunseung, the one I fell in love with shortly after.

You would comfort me when I wasn't feeling well or when I didn't fit in with the others. You helped me with my homework when I was still adjusting and you got me more familiar with Yoseob, the guy I was sharing the room with. You said that you would be there for me when I needed you, and I took your word for that.

But then. When it came to Hyunseung, you wouldn't help me. No matter how much I begged, pleaded, cried, you wouldn't help.

And guess what happened next? You ruined things between us. You suddenly became the bad boy and started being cold to me, bullying me, and stopped being the Lee Kikwang I first met. Where had he gone?chapter one ; conflict with fate .

"Lee Kikwang! Where's my cell!?" I burst into his dorm with anger. "Excuse me? I didn't take your cell," he replied calmly. "I borrowed it." He let out a smirk, and it made me even angrier. I snatched my cell phone out of his hands and stormed out of his room.

"Kikwang, why are you always picking on Sang Mi?" I heard Hyunseung ask Kikwang. My cheeks grew a rosy pink colour; this was how Hyunseung always was; he was so considerate of others.

I turned the key to my dorm and discovered Yoseob sitting in his bed. "Hey, you got your cell back?" Yoseob asked. "Yeah, apparently Kikwang took it again," I said with a huff. I placed my cell deep in my jean pockets and resumed my homework.

I know, you must be curious why I live with Yoseob, and not a girl. At BEAST High (I know it's not a creative name, but it was the only thing i could come up with), there are three dorms on the campus; boys, girls, and CO-ed. I, Kim Sang Mi, was placed in the CO-ed dorm because I had transferred in last year and there was no room left in the girls dorm. I was left with the CO-ed dorm; what's the funniest thing is that I had to share a dorm with a guy. I was pretty lucky though. I was paired with the nicest guy out of all the guys in the dorm - Yoseob. He had dirty blond hair and a nice build. His smile was able to kill anyone, including me.

There was another girl in this dorm besides me - Shin Hyun Ki. She shared a room with Doojoon though, because they were lovers. They had been in a relationship for two years. Junhyung originally shared the room with Doojoon, but ever since something between Doojoon and Hyunki sparked, they shared the room whether Junhyung wanted it or not. Junhyung got very annoyed and decided to move in with Dongwoon and Yoseob. Well, until I came in. Junhyung and Dongwoon were forced to share another room while Yoseob and I shared a room. That's what Yoseob told me, at least.

I concentrated on doing my homework, which was due the next day. Yoseob, who finished his homework already, got ready to take a shower. He took off his shirt, unaware I was in the same room as him. Of course, I saw all of this because there was a mirror hung on the wall above me desk.

"Yoseob-ah, go strip in the bathroom, not here!" I blushed. "Haven't you gotten used to it already though?" he asked.

I thought about that. Yes, I was used to it, but that was no reason to strip when I was right there. Although we do that in the morning, when we're getting ready for school. "Aish, fine, I'll go in the washroom," he said, giving up. I let out a sigh of relief.

Before Yoseob entered the bathroom half naked, Kikwang rushed in. "Hey, Yoseob! Did you finish your -- oh. What are you guys up to?" he asked, pasting a grin on his face. "Hey, it's not what you think!" I exclaimed. "Aish, Kikwang, don't bully Sang Mi," Yoseob told him. "Hey, what's going on here?" Doojoon walked in, followed by Hyunki, Junhyung, Dongwoon, and finally Hyunseung. We ended having a party with lots of chips and Coke while playing cards. Yoseob had put his shirt back on by then, having to give up his shower.

the next morning

I was the first to wake up in the morning, and walked to the kitchen in the dorm, still dazed. I poured myself a glass of water and glanced at the analog clock above the white, flourished cabinets. I almost choked on my water, and quickly placed my cup on the kitchen table and ran back to my room. Panicky, I tried to shake awake each of them, who slept on the floor.

"You guys! It's 7:30AM!" I exclaimed. Hyunseung was the first one to wake up despite his sleeping habits. He let out a yawn and proceeded to help me wake the others up. Doojoon grumbled something inaudible, then surprised at how late it was. Everyone quickly scrambled up, back to their rooms to change and get ready for school.

"I can't believe we made it," I said, panting from running to school. It had only been half an hour since we woke up. "Let's hurry to our classroom before we're late," Dongwoon suggested. Doojoon, Hyunseung, Junhyung, and Dongwoon split up with us, leaving the four of us hurrying to our classroom. Our whole class must have been watching us, because when we entered the classroom at the last second before the bell, they applauded and cheered.

"Okay, show's over students! Get out your homework and hand it in at the front of the desk." The teacher walked in, causing all the students to return to their seats. Oh DONGWOON, I thought. I never finished my homework...

"Sang Mi?" the teacher called, breaking my chain of thoughts. "Where's your homework?" I hesitated while he shook his head. "I can't believe you and Kikwang didn't do your homework." Kikwang? I thought. He didn't do his homework either? "You two," he gave us both a glare. "see me after class. I need to talk to you."

I gulped. I didn't need another alone time with Kikwang. No, not after what had happened before.chapter two ; confusion beyond control .

After class, both Kikwang and I went up to our teacher to receive our 'punishment'. "I would like you two to clean the chalkboards and take out the garbage after school. Oh, and if you decide to switch with one of your friends, don't, or else I'll give you both detention for a week." he gave us a stern look before heading back to the staff room. We shared a death glare before heading back to our seats to get ready for the next period.

After school, Kikwang and I cleaned the chalkboard; he did the left side, I did the right. We cleaned it in silence, until Kikwang wrote on the cleaned chalkboard "hey."

">3>"

"come on, don't ignore me."

"I'm not. I'm just mad." Flashbacks raced through my mind; how he was so nice to me on the first day, how he got on my nerves last night... these flashbacks never stopped.

"What are you mad about?" Oh, please. Like you don't have any idea why I'm mad at you?

I began scribbling my thoughts onto the board. I was in the midst of my second sentence when Kikwang grabbed my wrist, stopping me from writing. He looked at me with eyes full of sadness, his eyes boring into me.

Kikwang's POV

Her face flushed when I grabbed her wrist. A grin slowly formed across my face; however, she glared at me with eyes full of hatred and pulled away with force. My grin disappeared and Sang Mi retreated to her side and erased all of her replies. I did the same, and for the rest of the time, we cleaned in silence.

?? ?? ?? ?? ??

"Hyunseung, I'm back!" I yelled, as I turned the knob to enter our room. "Welcome back!" he shouted to me. "What took you so long?"

"Detention," I groaned. "with Sang Mi."

"You didn't do anything to her, did you?" I hesitated. Did I? It didn't really count, cause I only held her wrist and she glared at me. So that doesn't count, right? "Forget about her. How's Park Min Soo doing?" I asked him. He blushed at the mention of her name gave a short reply of "she's okay."

See, this is the reason why I've never told anything about Hyunseung. Hyunseung's world revolves around this Park Min Soo. His habits, his hobbies...everything relates to her. I thought if I began being cold to Sang Mi she would stop asking... and she did.

flashback.

"Hey, Kikwang, tell me about Hyunseung!" she asked perkily. "What do you want to know?"

"Ummm... everything! Come on Kikwang, tell me something!" I hesitated; I could tell her everything about him, but his everything revolved around Min Soo. Sang Mi was one of those people that would act happy if she was. When she was sad, she would fall into a deep depression.

"No," I finally told her. She pouted, and turned to leave my room. She came by every single day, pleading and begging for me to tell her, but I never did. I finally came up with the best plan to stop her from asking me. I started being cold to her, and even though it hurt my heart to do so, I had to. I don't know if she asked the other members about Hyunseung though. I just didn't want her to ask me, since I knew everything there was to Hyunseung.

"Kikwang, why are you being so mean to me!?" she asked one day, close to tears. "I'm not," I huffed. Suddenly, she burst into tears and ran out of my room. I sat there on the floor, in shock of what had just happened. And guess what? She never came back to ask me about Hyunseung and our relationship was never the same.

end of flashback.

"Don't worry about me," Hyunseung said, snapping me out of my thoughts. "worry about yourself, and how you're gonna get Sang Mi to be friends with you again."

"I don't want to be friends." I accidentally muttered out loud. "What did you say?"

"Um, nothing, I was just wondering how I'd do that." I said with a nervous laugh. Phew, I thought. I'm glad Hyunseung didn't hear that, or else things would've stirred even more.

Sang MI's POV

"I'm back, Yoseob!" I exclaimed, causing Yoseob to sit up from his bed. "Are you sleeping again?" I asked in awe. "Yeah, I just wanted to take a nap." he chuckled. "How was detention with Kikwang?" I let out a loud groan, and flopped onto my bed. "I never want to see that boy again," I mumbled to my pillow. Yoseob took that as a bad sign and let the topic slide. I was glad he was being so considerate, because I really didn't want to get into the details.

Why did he look at me with eyes full of sadness? I wondered. Why did he grab my wrist? And why did he start talking to me like that again? It's been a year since he was ever that nice. Aish, I'm not thinking about him anymore. If I think about him more, my head will start to hurt.

My stomach let out a loud growl. I decided it was time to get a snack, since I didn't have anything since lunch. "Yoseob-ah, I'm going out to get something from the kitchen ~ Want anything?"

"CHIPS!" he shouted to me, even though we were in the same room. I walked out of the room and into the kitchen, where I heard a strange knock on the door. That's weird, I thought. Everybody's back already, so who would it be? I opened the door, only to see a stranger with a surgical mask and sunglasses on.

"How may I help you, sir?"chapter three ; new hearts born .

"How may I help you, sir?"

The stranger stood there, and even though he had a surgical mask on, I was able to make out the shape of the grin forming across his face. He pinned me down onto the floor and covered my mouth with something. He was so strong, it wasn't even funny. I tried to scream for help, but the only sound that came out was the muffled scream that only the stranger could hear.

He forced himself against me, trying to remove my clothes without giving me a chance to run. I kicked him in that special spot, and he let out a large yelp. His face turned beet red; while he was still in pain, I scrambled up and tried every door, which was locked. The only door that wasn't locked was Junhyung and Dongwoon's door. I ran straight in, bumping into Junhyung who was at the door, ready to go out.

"Sang Mi, what's the hurry?" I gripped the front of his shirt, very scared of the molester. Suddenly, I heard heavy footsteps coming towards me.

Junhyung's POV

I saw this strange man that came towards me and Sang Mi. Sang Mi apparently heard the footsteps and hid behind me. I knew that this man wasn't any good. He had a knife in his hand too, so which part of him looked nice again?

I punched him on his right cheek, which he took no damage of. He slashed my arm with his knife, cursing me for hitting him. I reacted fast enough and gave him the karate kick I had been practicing for years at the karate club during middle school. He immediately fell to the floor and I punched his face multiple times.

Sang Mi wrapped her arms around my waist tightly, indicating that I should stop. I did, and the result of my punching was his swelled face. Sang Mi hugged me tightly, crying into my white t-shirt. I turned around to face her and hugged her back. In my chest, a bubbly feeling started to warm me up ...

?? ?? ?? ?? ??

She went into her room to grab the first aid kit. She changed out of her casual clothes too, into an oversized white t-shirt and short shorts. Her t-shirt was so long, it almost made her look like she wasn't wearing shorts at all. I hate to admit it, but it was a complete turn-on, even though it was only Dongwoon who was into these things. Maybe his preferences were rubbing off on me?

"Ouch!" Sang Mi was putting on some cream and wrapping my cut on my arm. "Junhyung-ah, don't move! It's gonna hurt even more if you do." she complained. "Sorry." She continued to apply cream on my wound in silence. After what seemed an eternity, she finally spoke. "Thank you, Junhyung." I stared at her, awestruck. "If you didn't come out, I might've been killed."

"That's a little extreme..." I think I felt my cheeks become red. "There, all done." Sang Mi stood up, and headed towards the door. My inner feelings took over my body; I got up too and wrapped my arms around her from behind.

"Junhyung...? What's wrong?" I immediately snapped out of it and let go. "Ah, it's nothing. See you later Sang Mi." I watched her walk inside her room, where she was safe with Yoseob. I slowly closed the door and slid down to the floor. What was I doing?

Sang Mi's POV

I entered the room, hoping Yoseob didn't hear anything. I didn't see him, so I guessed he was in the bathroom. Before I reached my desk, large hands wrapped around my neck and shoulders and a blond head leaned in.

"Yoseob...?"

"Sang Mi... are you okay? I heard you scream..." he whispered. "Why didn't you come out then?" I asked out of curiosity. I tried to pull away, but he tightened his grip around me. "Because, I heard Junhyung...so I thought you wouldn't need me." I turned around, and this time, I was successful; his grip wasn't as tight. "Yoseob-ah, of course I need you," I poked his nose. "Now come on, we need to get dinner. Let's go call the others too, kay?" he nodded, and we left our room.

?? ?? ?? ?? ??

Usually, I'm the only one cooking our dinner. However, Hyunseung was helping me today.

"Mind if I help?" Hyunseung scared me, appearing out of nowhere. I almost cut my finger and Hyunseung, who saw that, stood behind me. He was very tall compared to me; his head could have rested on my head, but he decided to tilt his neck to the side and look. Hyunseung wrapped his hands in mine, trying to teach me how to slice my carrots carefully. His chest touched my back several times, causing a chill down my spine. I could feel his heartbeat and even smell his scent, the special scent only Hyunseung had. I think it may have been cologne, but I wasn't too sure.

I just hope Hyunseung couldn't feel my heartbeat increasing by each second.

Hyunseung helped me the whole time, helping me chop vegetables, watch the stove ... he almost made it so I didn't need to do anything! I'd feel kinda useless and stand in front of the stove hopelessly. Hyuseung would notice, and occasionally give me a peck on the forehead. He'd give a soft smile, and resume cooking. I would snap back to reality, and do the same.

Almost an hour later, we called the others to eat. We sat around a long, glass table in front of the TV. We were such pigs; we would never have any leftovers for the next day's lunches. Luckily, the school provided lunch (included in our tuition&dorm&misc fees), so we never really had to worry.

Hyunseung was staring at me the whole time during dinner. I caught him staring at me at least twice, where are eyes would meet and he would quickly turn his attention back to the TV. Other times, I saw him staring at me in the corner of my eyes. Yoseob and Kikwang noticed Hyunseung gazing at me, and stared at Hyunseung, wondering what he was doing. Junhyung was trying to figure out what was going on around the table, so he was staring at Yoseob and Kikwang the whole time too. Doojoon, Hyun Ki, and Dongwoon were oblivious of what was happening around the table.

the next day.

I slept in today. When I woke up, I noticed Yoseob wasn't in his bed. I searched in every place Yoseob could be hiding in our room, which didn't give many possibilities. I looked in all the rooms in the dorm, only to find Hyunseung still sleeping.

"Hyunseung-ah..." I tried to shake him up. Hyunseung let out a groan and grabbed me, Sang Mi, who was still in her waaay oversized t-shirt and short shorts, pulling me to his bed. I was so close to his body, I was able to feel his body warmth...

I tried again. "Hyunseung-ah..." Hyunseung actually responded this time, with a "Yes?" Not long after, still dazed, he rubbed his eyes. "Sang Mi... Sang Mi!? Yah, what are you doing my bed?!"

"Well, you pulled me down," I pouted. "and you were hugging me real tight, so there was no way for me to get out." His face slightly flushed, and he let me get out of his bed.

15 minutes later, both of use emerged from our room, ready to go out and get bread for breakfast. We both left, walking in silence. I was deep in thought, thinking why the others left so early. For one of the crosswalks, I kept walking, unaware of the changing signals. I heard a blaring 'BEEP BEEP" sound. When I turned my head, all I saw was a bright light flashing before my eyes.chapter four ; teardrops during this rainstorm .

A/N ; just so you know , the dorm isn't actually on the school campus . it's because the school is so large , there was no way of putting it inside . so , everybody that lives in a dorm had to actually walk 15 minutes before they got to the school . just so this clarifies why they had to cross a crosswalk (:loooooong chapter this time . enjoy ! :D

Hyunseung's POV

Sang Mi and I walked in silence. She seemed to be deep in thought. I stopped by the crosswalk, waiting for the light to change. Sang Mi, however, didn't notice that the person had turned to a hand! I tried to grab her hand, but I had just missed her by a few millimetres.

"SANG MI!" I yelled out. She turned her head, but wasn't fast enough and was hit by the car. She wasn't the only one who was hit. There was this old grandma behind her, who seemed to have more impact from the car than Sang Mi did.

My mouth fell wide open, and I quickly rushed to Sang Mi's side. "Sang Mi?" I shook her. "Sang Mi, come on, wake up." She scraped her forehead, and blood was slowly gushing out. She also received a bruise that was slowly turning purple, probably from crashing into the floor. Some parts of her arm were purple, while near her wrist, it was gushing blood out.

"Someone! Please, call an ambulance!"

Kikwang's POV

It had already been 15 minutes into first period, and Sang Mi were nowhere to be found. I was starting to get worried. Yoseob noticed my worrying and patted on my back, trying to comfort me (and he was behind me, too!).

My cell suddenly vibrated in my uniform pockets. I checked the message under the desk, in case the teacher saw it. When I saw what it had written, I immediately stood up.

The teacher stared at me with confusion written on his face. I ran out the classroom, and wondered how I would get there.

"Yah, Lee Kikwang!" Was the last thing I heard before I bolted down the hallway.

Yoseob's POV

First period had only started, and Sang Mi wasn't even at school yet. Where was she? I wondered. Kikwang, who sat in front of me, immediately stood up. He bolted out of the room, while Hyun Ki and I exchanged glances. We immediately stood up too, and followed Kikwang.

After sprinting to catch up to Kikwang, we made him stop in front of the school to take a deep breath. Kikwang must've forgotten to breath while he was running!

"Kikwang...what's wrong?" I panted. Kikwang took a deep breath before finally whispering "Sang Mi."

"What about Sang Mi?" I questioned. "Did something happen to her?!" Kikwang nodded, and showed Hyun Ki and me the text message he had received from Hyunseung.

To: Lee KikwangFrom: Jang HyunseungTitle: (no message)

Kikwang, Sang Mi got into an accident! go to Seoul Hospital and check at the front desk. don't forget the others!

I couldn't respond. There was nothing to say. "Hyun Ki, go and get Junhyung, Doojoon, and Dongwoon. Meet us at Seoul Hospital, kay?" She nodded, and ran off.

"Come on, let's go Yoseob."

a few minutes later

Once we arrived at the hospital, we quickly asked the nurse which room Sang Mi was in. She directed us to the room and we didn't even say thanks before taking off again.

When we entered the room, we saw Hyunseung sitting by her bed with a worried look pasted on his face. I was scared to ask how Sang Mi was, in case it was something bad. Kikwang, however, decided to be the first to speak.

"How is she?" his whisper was so quiet, you could barely hear him at all. And this was coming from the person who was usually the loudest in our group.

"She didn't wake up yet." Hyunseung didn't make any eye contact at all; was he crying?

Doojoon, Dongwoon, Junhyung, and Hyun Ki rushed in, to find Sang Mi still in bed. "What happened?" Junhyung asked Hyunseung. Hyunseung didn't make any eye contact either.

"Yah, Jang Hyunseung, what happened?" he grit his teeth. "YAH! I'M ASKING YOU A QUESTION!" Junhyung's temper rose; his fists were in the air, almost ready to hit him. "Hyung, don't be like this," Dongwoon whispered, gripping Junhyung's wrist.

"How did it happen?" Doojoon asked calmly. I'm guessing Doojoon sensed Hyunseung was starting to regain his strength, because Hyunseung finally spoke up, but still with his head down.

"We were walking to school. She crossed the crosswalk without looking, and I couldn't grab her in time. Her and another old grandma got hit by the car."

Tears started dripping down his face, and he quickly rubbed them off. I approached him and gave him a comforting squeeze on the shoulder. "Don't worry, she'll be okay,"I whispered.

Sang Mi's POV

a few hours later...

My eyes blinked, my vision became clear again. When I woke up, I saw the familiar hospital ceiling. I sat up, my head throbbing. I touched my scrape which was on top of my bruise. It had been bandaged. I looked around, to see everyone in the room, sleeping. How long had I been sleeping? I asked myself. I tried lifting my arm, but I found it had been wrapped in a cast-like thing. I could move my arm, only slightly though.

Hyunseung was sitting beside me the whole time. I stared at his beautiful face, caressing his soft hair. His eyes slowly opened, and I jerked my hand back. I didn't want him to think I was a pervert.

"Sang Mi...? Am I dreaming?" I shook my head, and he rubbed his eyes. "Sang Mi! You're awake!" His cry of joy woke everybody else up who then proceeded to surround my bed. Everybody gave me a hug, and some even cried. I turned back to ask Hyunseung, "Was I the only one?"

"No, there was this old grandma behind you. She seemed like she was trying to push you away."

"Ohh...how did she look like?" I asked curiously. Hyunseung, not knowing how to describe her, told me to go to the next room. Apparently she was taken to this hospital too. I hopped out, making my way through my group of friends. They tried to pin me back to my bed, but I refused. I had to thank this old grandma whom saved my life.

My feet sped up, until I came to a halt. I opened the door slightly, peeking in. My whole body froze then. My eyes widened, shocked to see my family crowding around the bed where the grandma lay. Was that my grandma? My family noticed the girl who once used to be loved by everyone peeking in. My parents shot me a death glare.

"What are you doing here?" My mom asked. She grit her teeth. I didn't answer. Even if I answered, she wouldn't listen and would just keep talking. She wasn't the type to reason anyway.

"It's your fault!" My mom yelled at me. "It's your fault your grandmother is lying here right now!" She spat every swear word that came to her mind. My dad was pulling her back, but like my mother, he yelled at me. "Why are you such bad luck to us!? Why do you kill everyone important to us?!"

"It's not my fault." I whispered, tears rolling down my cheeks. I whispered the same words as I had that day, the day my twin sister left us, which was the day my parents kicked me out. Of course, they kept paying my fees to the school and everything, just to keep me out of the house.

I approached my grandma, to see how she was. My mom was still being held back by my dad; he pitied me. It's the only reason why he let me approach my grandma. I looked at her face. Her face was wrinkly, but when she smiled, she was like an angel from heaven. Even at such a age, she was able to maintain that smile.

When my sister and I used to get in trouble, she would still have the smile on her face, trying to comfort us not to be scared. She was the only one who gave me allowance so I could buy food and other necessities for myself while I lived at the dorm. She was the only one that had paid attention to me even after my parents blamed me for my sister's death.

This beautiful woman could be dying right now. I shivered as more tears rolling down my cheeks. "Excuse me." I left the room. I stood by the wall outside the room and slid down to the floor. Tears gushed out, and I kept trying to wipe them off my face. The day of her death flushed into my brain, as I remembered every single detail there was to it.

flashback.

It was the summer. Shin Mi was my twin. We were going to be in our first year of high school soon. It was a cool summer, and two juniors had asked us out at the same time. We agreed, and were told to meet at the most famous and popular club in Seoul. That afternoon before our big night, we had planned our outfit carefully, in case there was any conflict. Shin Mi was going to wear her low yellow dress with her black leggings while I was planning on wearing my favourite you-can-see-my-shoulders t-shirt and short, dark, jean shorts. I wore my circle dangly earrings while Shin Mi wore her key earrings.

When we arrived at the club, it was packed. It was our first time there, even though we were very popular in our grade. The two juniors waved at us, smiling to us. We grinned and headed towards the table.

That night was filled with laughter and a lot of intimate dancing. We both enjoyed it, until we had a little bit of liquor. Of course, like most alcoholics, a little bit turned into a lot. We drank more and more, getting drunker and drunker. We were so drunk, we were high, almost oblivious to our surroundings. I didn't drink as much as Shin Mi did though.

The guys were leading us to their cars when we faced a crosswalk. The guy with Shin Mi wasn't holding her hand or anything; he just let her be. Shin Mi didn't see that the light had changed to a hand at the crosswalk; she kept walking. I noticed and tried to grab her arm, in case a car was coming. It was late at night, I guess she probably thought there weren't any. But there was. A car zoomed by, crashing into Shin Mi. I was so close to saving her, but I couldn't in the end...

That night, it was the end of our twinship. She was sent to the hospital not long after. When we arrived at the hospital, the boys had already boycotted us. The only people who were there was my family. We watched her get pulled away in a stretcher. She was directly put into surgery, to save her. The doctor had told us beforehand she was in critical condition and that the chance of being able to save her was very slim. My parents decided to take the chance anyway.

At 5:39AM, it was confirmed that my twin was dead. My parents sobbed at the death of their daughter.

When we arrived home that morning, my mom turned to me with disgust. "It's all your fault." She glared at me. "You killed her." I had explained it to her many times that it wasn't my fault. She threw chairs, pencils, knives, and books at me. Each throw created a bruise or a cut. After her tantrum, she screamed at me.

Every single day when I came home from school, I found her drinking alcohol and repeating the same child abuse. Every night I'd cry to sleep with my new wounds. My popularity had decreased after that incident too; I became a nobody. Halfway through the semester, I couldn't take it anymore. I begged my dad to allow me to transfer to BEAST High, a place where no one knew me. He agreed and also made it so that I lived in a dorm. Guess my dad was sick of me too, huh?

end of flashback.

"Sang Mi?"

I looked up with my tear-stained face. No, it couldn't be him. He couldn't come back, not at this time.chapter five ; sunshine in the mist .

"Sang Mi?"

I looked up with my tear-stained face. No, it couldn't be him. He couldn't come back, not at this time. I hoped my eyes were deceiving me, but they weren't. I wiped my tears away, and looked clearly at him.

"Yong Ka..." I whispered. Yong Ka, one of the juniors on the night my sister died. He was also my first love and we were together for some time after Shin Mi's death. It only lasted 3 months, but those 3 months were the best I had since my sister's death. Although I faced child abuse every time I went home, Yong Ka was the one who cheered me up.

"Why?" I asked between hiccups. "Why did you come back?"

"I have been looking for you for so long Sang Mi." He reached his hand out to stroke my hair, but I curled into a ball, trying to protect myself. "Go away," I choked between tears.

"Sang Mi-ah." He spoke softly. No, go away, I thought. My brain told me I didn't like him anymore, but my heart reacted differently. Yong Ka unlocked so many memories I had locked away.

"Yong Ka-ah~" I ran towards him as I met him at a park near my home. "Hey baby," he grabbed me into an embrace. I winced at the pain as he pulled me in. Yong Ka noticed the pained expression on my face and asked, "Where's the bruise?" I shook my head, not wanting to burden him with another wound. He glared at me and pulled my left arm. I yelped in response, causing him to smirk. He pulled my sleeves up, to examine the bruise.

Although it had only been 15 minutes since my mom threw the radio at me, the bruise had turned purple. I was lucky I didn't break a bone. Yong Ka dragged me back to his house and treated the bruise. He made sure I stayed at his house that night, in case I was to receive more abuse. Yong Ka gave me my spare clothes (that was always at his house, in case this happened) and ordered me to take a shower. I obeyed, and after getting out not long after, we fell asleep on his bed.

No, stop. I told my brain. My brain wouldn't listen though.

It was a late summer evening. I was meeting Yong Ka at the park near my house again. He had called me out, saying he had to tell me something. When I arrived, Yong Ka was already sitting on the bench, very nervous.

"Hey Yong Ka!" I smiled sweetly, hoping he would pull me into an embrace again. "Hey." he replied weakly. Is it me, or does Yong Ka seem a bit odd? I thought.

Yong Ka took my hands that dangled at my side, holding them tight and took a deep breath.

"Let's break up."

A moment of silence filled up between us until I finally mustered some courage up. "W-w-why?" I stammered.

"Don't ask, just say yes Sang Mi. Please." He asked pleadingly. His eyes were crying, like he was forced to do this. I don't know why, but my head nodded in agreement, and he let go of me. He got up from the bench and took one last look into my eyes. His eyes were filled with sadness and he was close to tears too.

"Goodbye Sang Mi." he whispered in my ear as he left. I stood there, frozen in my spot until a bird had flown by. Tears had been slowly creeping up on me until they fell down my cheeks. I didn't even stop to wipe them off. I collapsed, having lost my boyfriend, who was my only comfort when I was being abused by my mom.

I didn't return home until midnight that day. My parents didn't say anything, let alone notice I was gone. I crawled into bed and cried myself to sleep.

"Didn't you hear what she said? She told you to go away." Hyunseung stood between us, in a protective stance and spoke coldly to Yong Ka. I peeked out of my protection zone to see Yong Ka in shock. He seemed to be taken aback in the sudden appearance of Hyunseung.

"And who might you be?" he asked, a little to calm and collected. "Me? I'm Sang Mi's someone special, that's who." Hyunseung shot Yong Ka his death glare, but Yong Ka didn't seem to be affected. He wasn't able to counter that statement, so he turned away. "Sang Mi," he spoke in a harsh tone, "I had a reason. I hope you know that. And you will come back to me." He walked away, leaving me with the unlocked memories he forgot to take away with him.

As soon as he was out of sight, Hyunseung looked into my eyes and asked, "Sang Mi, are you all right?" I nodded, and got up. Although Hyunseung was helping me, I stumbled into his arms. I thought I had ran out of tears, but I was wrong. My tears soaked Hyunseung's shirt as I cried my heart out. Hyunseung held me tightly in his arms and we stood there, for who knows how long.

?? ?? ?? ?? ??

"Hyunseung, Sang Mi, you guys took an awfully long time," Hyun Ki whined, as we came in through the door. "Sang Mi, were you crying?" Yoseob wondered aloud. "Your eyes are puffy and red again." I quickly faked a yawn and told him that I was a bit sleepy so I kept yawning. My friends actually believed that lame excuse, and I was relieved.

Later that day, my friends did all the forms so I could leave the hospital. I didn't want to stay here any longer, especially since my family was here.

Before we got ready to go, I went to my grandma's room one last time. I made sure I was alone before talking to her. "Grandma," I softly spoke. "thank you. Thank you for saving me that day. I really miss you, and I'm sorry I had to leave." I looked at her wrinkled, yet beautiful face. "I'll try and come back once in a while, okay? You make sure you get better too, don't lose hope." I gave her a kiss on the cheek and left the room.

When we arrived home, our classmates greeted us and made sure we were caught up in all our homework. None of us took very long to catch up, since we only did miss one day. We spent the rest of the day laughing as usual; however, they didn't let me cook dinner. They scowled at me and told me my arm was handicapped. If I moved it too much, the wound might burst open again and leave a scar. I was horrified and decided to let them cook.

Dinner wasn't that bad. I mean, it didn't taste horrible, like I thought it would. Don't get me wrong, it's just because everyone was helping with dinner tonight and I thought it wouldn't work, since...well, none of them are great cooks. Let's just leave it at that. But dinner was really enjoyable and they seemed to be really proud too. They wouldn't eat until I took the first bite, like I was the judge and they were the cooks on trial. I smiled and told them it was delicious. Their faces lit up and began eating. Everybody would comment each others dishes, and occasionally, Hyunseung would help me grab some food and place it in my bowl of rice. I would grin; in fact, I think this was the best meal I've had in a while.chapter six ; the beginning of nightmares .

Sang Mi's POV

Nothing major happened after all that. We lived happily ever after? Oh no, it didn't end that soon. Every day was fun and enjoyable, but at night, they were nightmares.

Literally.

Every night, it was the same nightmare. I was in the darkness, running away from who knows what. With cuts on my arm, I'd keep running, but there was never an end to the darkness. Every morning, I'd wake up with beads of sweat on my forehead. Luckily, I didn't scream, so Yoseob didn't know about it.

As each day passed by, I felt myself getting weaker, losing energy. I ate as much as I could, but I was always sad, tired and weak. Then one night, my nightmare became worse. It was twice as horrible than before, four times as suspenseful. I was still in the darkness, but this time, I saw what I was running from. Or at least, the shape. It had a black hoodie covering it's head, making it hard to identify it. It was definitely not human. It slashed my arms and legs, creating deep cuts. It would murmur something inaudible before killing me. Before it would kill me, I'd wake up.

The first night I had this nightmare, I was screaming my head off. Yoseob had to shake me awake before I really did wake up. I think the whole dorm heard it, but didn't say anything. I'm glad they didn't, because I didn't really want to explain it. Yoseob had asked me many times, but I never told him. I mean, that was only the first night; it may disappear, right?

The second night; I had the same nightmare, waking up at the same moment I woke up last night. This time, Yoseob was tightly clutching my hand with his big hand. His other hand was covering my mouth, trying to muffle my scream. I guess it had worked because I didn't hear any complaints after that.

The third night; I stopped screaming. It's a good thing; however, instead of screaming, I began to have sleepless nights. I'd wake up with panda eyes and I'd sleep in class and every other chance I get. I still did my homework, but mostly it was Yoseob who helped me. I'd get scared of sleeping; sometimes, when I am able to sleep, I don't have that nightmare. I recall the memories I had with Yong Ka; how we were there for each other through thick and thin, even if it was only for three months.

?? ?? ?? ?? ??

One week had passed since my nightmares. I don't know why they stopped, but I was glad. I started my Monday happily, going to class with Yoseob, Kikwang, and Hyun Ki. I slumped down on my desk, trying to get some sleep before our teacher arrived. Suddenly, the guys gasped and the girls screamed. I looked up to see what was wrong, only to find Yong Ka leaning against the doorway. He made his way over to my desk, causing me to sit straight up and freeze. "Hey there." He gave a sexy smile, which he pulled off. I almost fell out of my chair, but luckily I was able to maintain my composure.

"What do you want?" I asked coldly. He bent down to my right ear, whispering, "You." He bit my ear softly, causing me to blush slightly, yet a chill ran down my spine. The girls huffed and puffed, knowing the 'new guy' had taken an interest in me. Kikwang immediately stood up, his face red. Yong Ka looked up and smirked at his reactions.

"Okay okay, show's over," the teacher said, running in. A sense of dj vu? I thought. "Sorry sir." Yong Ka grinned. "Come on, move it, young man. It's time for class." Yong Ka shuffled out of the room, turning his head around and giving me a grin. I saw Kikwang shudder out of the corner of my eyes and Yoseob stuck his tongue out. Hyun Ki was mesmorized by Yong Ka, like all the other girls were in our class. I hope she didn't forget that she already had Doojoon.

?? ?? ?? ?? ??

At lunch, we met up with Doojoon, Dongwoon, Hyunseung, and Junhyung by the big tree on our campus. We greeted each other and began eating our 'bought' lunch.

"You know we had a new transfer in our class," Doojoon said between gulps of rice. "Honey, slow down!" Hyun Ki nagged. Doojoon ignored his girlfriend and continued. "His name's Park Yong Ka I believe. And you know what? In less than five minutes, he made all the girls in our class swoon over him."

"It was so annoying," Junhyung complained. "We used to be the ones in their hearts, and now all they care about is Yong Ka." Junhyung was obviously jealous.

Hyunseung didn't take part in the conversation because he knew about Yong Ka. didn't say anything either except nod, shrug, and laugh at the appropriate times. What did Yong Ka want?

We finished our lunches and headed back to our classrooms. He better not be waiting in my classroom, I thought.

?? ?? ?? ?? ??

The last bell sounded, signaling the end of the day. I was exhausted; Yong Ka was waiting in my classroom before lunch ended. When I first saw him, he grinned and I turned around, dragging Kikwang, Yoseob, and Hyun Ki away from our classroom. He came during our 5 minute class change and I had to run away from him. He almost ran inside the girl's dressing room after I finished PE! It was a wonder I had actually made it through the day.

When I returned to our dorm, I immediately changed into shorts and a t-shirt, and flopped onto my bed. What a day! I thought. I hope there isn't any more of that...

Suddenly, the doorbell to our dorm rang. I raced to the door, hoping it'd be Kikwang, Yoseob, and Hyun Ki. Hyun Ki had stayed behind to wait for Doojoon while Kikwang and Yoseob went to buy some food at the convenient store. I opened the door, ready to greet them, until I saw Yong Ka.

"Hey there." He smirked. My mouth dropped, gaping at him. After realizing it was him, I gave him a look full of hatred. I attempted to slam the door, hoping to injure his nose or something and send him running back home. Unfortunately, it didn't. He had grown stronger since I last saw him, and even with my body pressed against the door, he was able to open it. I tumbled to the floor, spraining my ankle. I whimpered in pain as he gave me a devilish grin. He slowly approached me, with eyes that seemed to be full of desire, hatred, and vengeance. He bent down to my face, examining every detail. I closed my eyes and braced myself with what I thought would happen next - rape or death.

Suddenly, I heard a fist come in contact with someone's cheekbone. "YOU B*ST*RD!" Hyunseung shouted. He had hit him with all his strength, causing a bruise on his cheekbone. Yong Ka got up from the floor and grinned.

"Let's get this party started, shall we?"

Yong Ka raised his fist in the air and pounded Hyunseung in the stomach. Hyunseung winced in pain, but counterattacked with another punch. I watched in dismay as my Hyunseung and Yong Ka threw punches at each other, showing no mercy. They started to lose their strength not long after.

While Hyunseung was catching his breath, Yong Ka decided to take advantage of it. He grabbed the nearest chair and lifted it high in the air, ready to hit Hyunseung with it. My eyes grew in terror and I ran towards them. "STOP!" I yelled. With tears in my eyes, I stretched my arms out in front of Hyunseung. Yong Ka froze with disbelief in his eyes. Something in his eyes told me that he was fighting; whether or not he should hit me. He made his decision; he dropped the chair and slowly made his way out the door. Before leaving, he glanced back with sadness in his eyes.

After Yong Ka left, I quickly bent down to see how Hyunseung was. "Are you okay Hyunseung?!" I asked him. "Why were you so stupid?" Hyunseung choked out. "You could've been hurt." I gave him a hug. I was sad that he was hurt, but happy he didn't die. I quickly treated the bruises that had appeared on his face and arms with medicine. We didn't speak, but I didn't mind the silence. It wasn't that bad; it gave me a chance to sort out my thoughts.

I got up, ready to put the first aid kit away. I almost collapsed on the floor because of my sprained ankle. Hyunseung instantly rushed to my side to catch me. "It's my turn to treat you," he whispered in my ear. I felt a chill down my spine but I blushed. He was so close to my face, I could kiss him... Hyunseung's eyes stared into mine, his face only inches from mine. We inched closer until he had a sudden realization of what he was doing. His face began moving farther and farther away from my face. I was hurt, but I didn't show it.

He made sure I sat on the floor comfortably and started wrapping my ankle. The pain shot up my leg, but I was able to keep a straight face.

"Hey, what's up?" Kikwang said, poking his head in. "Why's our door wide open?" Doojoon piped in. "Oh nothing, the concrete floor just sounded weird." I lied. I was glad we finished treating Hyunseung's wounds because I didn't want the others to know about my past with Yong Ka or their fight. Not yet, at least. I pasted a fake grin and asked enthusiastically, "What did you guys get from the convenient store?"

Yong Ka's POV

"You know what to do." I nodded. Although I wasn't very into this idea, I had to accept it anyway. I was forced; they were the only ones that could save my family.

Sang Mi's family was rich. Of course, knowing Sang Mi and her sister's oblivious trait, they never asked where their money came from. Their parents pretended to have normal jobs; their dad was an 'accountant' while her mom worked as an 'editor' for a magazine. However, secretly, they played with the selling of marijuana, tobacco, and other illegal drugs and materials. I had found out about that and shortly after, my parents and my younger sister were involved in a car accident. No one knows if Sang Mi's parents had sent someone to 'accidentally' kill my family. I wasn't with my parents and sister that day, so I wasn't affected. They didn't die; instead, they were infected with a disease that put you to sleep, similar to a coma. Every day I would go home and pray to God to cure them.

Two days after the accident, two large, muscled men came and brought me to Sang Mi's parents' den - also known as their secret lair, which was in an underground cave in the forest located in the countryside. I was forced to bow down in front of them. They smiled and began debating what they should do with me. I didn't want to die and I figured they had a lot of money from selling illegal stuff. While they were debating, I pleaded them to save my family. I told them I would do anything they wanted me to do. An evil grin had crept upon their face, and they accepted on my offer.

As you may know, they had hated their daughter, Sang Mi, for killing Shin Mi. I knew Sang Mi didn't kill Shin Mi though. I was with them that day.

Two months later, her parents discovered I was dating Sang Mi and demanded I break up with her. They knew how much I meant to Sang Mi and wanted to test my loyalty. I hesitated, but did as I was told the next day.

Sang Mi had a heartbroken face that day, but she put on a smile just as I left. I regretted my actions, but I needed my family more. Ever since then, I had been involved in their illegal trades and I hated myself for it. But I needed the monthly money they gave me to help find a way to cure my parents and sister.

For a while after that, I did not take part in any Sang Mi related things. I was glad. I wouldn't know how to face her.

Approximately two weeks ago, her parents asked me to do another big project again. I was prepared; I always earned a huge amount of money. They told me to get closer to Sang Mi again, earn her trust. They didn't tell me anymore, but I was curious.

"Why?" I questioned them. They glared at me and asked, "Do you want the money or not?" I instantly shut up and waited for more instructions. a week later, I transferred into BEAST High with the help of her parents.

I tried seducing her today, but she wouldn't give in. That is, until I stalked her to her dorm that day. I don't think the plan was to rape her or something, but I just missed her so much. I wanted to have her in my arms again, but I knew that would never happen.

I slammed the door open and Sang Mi fell to the floor. She had such a scared expression on her face. Did she think I was going to do something to her? Suddenly, I heard a voice scream behind me. Running towards me was a boy who seemed to be the same age as me. Didn't I see him before? I asked myself. His fist made contact with my cheekbone and caused a red bruise. I grinned, eager for a fight. My fist pounded his stomach while his fist made contact with my right cheek. We kept exchanging punches, showing no sign of surrendering.

After a while, we began to lose our strength. While he was catching his breath, I grabbed the nearest chair I saw and lifted it high in the air, ready to hit him. "STOP!" I heard the love of my life cry out. Tears started seeping out of her eyes and her arms were stretched out in front of him. I froze, surprised and in disbelief. She was willing to go to such measures to save him? What about the love we used to share? Should I attempt to hit him anyway, knowing that Sang Mi will be blocking? I slowly put down the chair after making my decision. I headed towards the door and left. While I was walking down the dorm path, I heard Sang Mi ask, "Are you okay Hyunseung!?"

"Hyunseung." I whispered with a tint of hatred and anger in my voice.

I walked back to my dorm, hoping my roommate wouldn't mind the bruises on my arms and face. On my way back, I bumped into a few guys heading towards Sang Mi's dorm. I kept my head down so they wouldn't recognize me. They had gone inside, asking them why they were on the floor. I smirked. Her friends had just given me an idea and there was no way she could stop me. Evil thoughts seeped into my mind, as I inched closer to the darkness and the desperation in my heart.chapter seven ; pleasantly .

The next few days after Yong Ka's transfer, he didn't bother us. The dorm was quite peaceful despite the minor feuds between the boys.

We were spending the night in Kikwang and Hyunseung's room, playing cards and eating junk food. We had fought over what to order since we were getting hungry. Apparently, our stomachs didn't like the fact that they were only digesting chips. In the end, we decided to order Chinese food and played 'tangsooyook' multiple times while waiting.

Suddenly, the doorbell rang. "DING DONG." Dongwoon imitated. Everyone burst into laughter at his weak imitation. I got up, still laughing, and answered the door. I stopped when I saw Yong Ka standing in the doorway though. He was wearing his dark jeans and a white "BIG BANG" t-shirt underneath his blue and white checkered shirt. His bangs were parted to the left side, almost covering his eye. His eyes were a deep shade of brown. Were they ever this brown? His cheeks were soft like a baby's and he was muscular. I swear, I heard my heart go "bmp bmp".

"W-w-why are you here?" I stuttered.

"To see you," he grinned. "I haven't seen you in a few days." He moved closer to me, his hand reaching out to touch my hair. Although my brain screamed to move away, my body didn't follow the signals it was sending. It was as though Yong Ka had complete control over me. Suddenly, I felt arms wrap around my waist, pulling me back.

"Stay away from her." Hyunseung said, his bloodshot eyes staring into his.

He tightened his grip around my waist. Yong Ka didn't seem to be shocked to see Hyunseung. They glared at each other before Yong Ka turned away and waved his hand goodbye. Hyunseung's grip didn't loosen as Yong Ka walked away; it was as if he was trying to protect me. As soon as Yong Ka was out of sight, Hyunseung immediately let go of me. His hands dropped to his side and retreated back to his room, laughing as if he never left there. I stood there, stunned.

"Excuse me, miss? Your Chinese food." I snapped out of my trance and paid the bill. After that, I brought the food to the room and resumed playing.

?? ?? ?? ?? ??

It had been several days since Hyunseung and I last talked. He avoided my gaze and any chance we could talk. When I tried to create a conversation, he would pretend he was talking to Junhyung or Doojoon and walk away with them. Once, he even flipped his phone out and pretended to make a call! It was obvious there was no call being made. It was written all over his face. I didn't want to burst his bubble, so I walked away with my head down.

One night while I was walking to the kitchen, I bumped into Hyunseung. He was also in the kitchen, making some coffee. I walked to the cabinet and Hyunseung inched to the edge of the cabinet table. I got my cup out of the cabinet and looked into the refrigerator. "Oppa, why won't you talk to me?" I asked, not making any eye contact. Hyunseung didn't answer. "Oppa," I pleaded. "What did I do wrong?" I looked up from the refrigerator in time to see him sigh. I sighed too, and resumed looking into the fridge.

"Let's go somewhere tomorrow." He abruptly proposed. My head poked up, wanting to hear more. "Where?" I asked curiously.

"Somewhere." He smiled at me. It had been a few days since I saw his angelic smile, and aimed at me too!

"How about we meet at the big tree where we eat lunch?" I nodded. "10AM the day after tomorrow then. Let's leave at separate times too, so the others don't know what we're doing." I nodded again and he left the room with his cup of coffee. When he was out of earshot, I squealed in delight, psyched about the day after tomorrow.

"Yoseobb ~" I ran into our room and hugged Yoseob. "Whoa," he chuckled, "what's up?"

"Yoseob, guess what? The day after tomorrow I'm - " I stopped halfway through my sentence. I recalled that Hyunseung didn't want the others to know.

"Yes?" Yoseob raised an eyebrow curiously.

"Nothing." I skipped to my bed and flopped onto the bed, hugging my yellow star cushion and giggled to myself. Yoseob rolled his eyes and muttered, "Girls."

?? ?? ?? ?? ??

The day before our 'date' passed by extremely slow. I was anticipating my outing with Hyunseung and I had really hoped time would fly by faster. Later that afternoon, I couldn't hold it in anymore. I needed to tell someone before I burst from happiness. The only person that I had in mind was Hyun Ki. I rushed into her room, only to find Hyun Ki and Doojoon's lips locked in an intense make out session. I stood in the doorway, gaping at them. Doojoon saw me while Hyun Ki still had her arms wrapped around his neck. Doojoon was awfully surprised.

"Sang Mi?" He said in shock.

"Sang Mi? What about Sang Mi baby?" Hyun Ki asked, moving her head a few centimetres away from Doojoon. The instant Hyun Ki saw me in the doorway she pointed Doojoon to the door. Doojoon understood perfectly and brushed past me and into Junhyung and Dongwoon's room.

"Now what's up?" She grabbed a heart cushion from her bed and sat on the floor. Hyun Ki patted at the spot beside her, indicating I should sit down; I obeyed. I took a deep breath and began spilling my secret and story with Hyun Ki. She laughed, nodded, and groaned at the right times. Once I finished my story, Hyun Ki began applauding. I tilted my head, questioning her action. She grinned and told me she was proud I told someone, especially her, this. She had been aware of my feelings for Hyunseung for a long time but she didn't want to meddle, in case I wasn't ready to share. She grinned and promised me that she would help me choose an outfit. I laughed, very happy she was going to help me.

Around 5PM, I was in my room reading a magazine on my bed while Yoseob was doing his homework. "Sang Mi," he complained, "hurry and do your homework before you cram it tomorrow." I let out a huge groan. Yoseob began his weekly lecture about my procrastination. He was in the midst of his lecture when Hyun Ki crashed in with a huge duffel bag.

"Whoa, calm down Hyun Ki. Did you and Doojoon have a fight?" Yoseob asked her, pointing to her duffel bag. Hyun Ki ignored Yoseob as I squealed. "Hyun Ki! What are you doing here?"

"To help you!" She answered, giggling. "Now, shoo, Yoseob. I need Sang Mi."

"Why do I have to go?" He whined. Hyun Ki rolled her eyes. "Just go," she said, her long index finger pointing towards the doorway. "Go to my room and stay there until tomorrow." Yoseob pouted and obediently left the room.

Once Yoseob was out of the earshot, she exclaimed, "Let's get you ready for your date tomorrow!" I looked at her. "How?" I asked. She stared at me in horror. "Oh my god. You definitely need help."

She pulled my hand and dragged me onto the floor where her duffel bag lay. She threw her clothes onto my bed and introduced me to masks, shaving, makeup, and lotion. I listened intently to what she said and the first thing we did was the mask. We spent the hours gossiping and laughing. She taught me many different things to makeup and by nightfall, I was already a professional.

We left my room and began preparing for dinner. Hyun Ki desired the taste of my tangsooyook and requested that I make it. It had been a long time since I made it, so I thought it was okay. Hyun Ki helped me in the kitchen until I turned on the stove. Sadly, the area near the stove was extremely hot and according to her, she was 'allergic' to the heat. It was the lamest excuse ever but I didn't want to burst her bubble. She retreated to the sofa and began watching "Your Beautiful" on TV.

When dinner was ready, we decided to prank everyone. Often, we would just knock on their door and yell to them that it's dinner time.

Hyun Ki decided that our first two victims would be Doojoon and Yoseob. We slowly crept into their room and jumped on them. "Yah, what the h*ck Hyun Ki?!" Doojoon shouted. Doojoon and Yoseob tried to shake us off by twirling around in a circle. Almost instantly, they grew tired and stopped. Hyun Ki winked at me, informing me to begin our devious plan. Knowing they were ticklish, we tickled their weak spots. They began to laugh - laugh from the pain.

For Junhyung and Dongwoon, we knocked on their door hard and leaned back on the wall. Junhyung and Dongwoon poked their heads out and we punched the Pikachu Junhyung had. It made some 'pika pika' sounds, causing Junhyung and Dongwoon to squirm. They looked on their side outside of their door. We popped our hands out in front of them. Dongwoon jumped back and bumped into Junhyung's back. They both fell to the floor on their butt with a loud 'THUMP'. We giggled and tiptoed to Kikwang and Hyunseung's room.

We turned the knob slightly and opened the door without making any sound. We turned the light offs, causing Kikwang and Hyunseung to panic. "Yah, what's going on?!" Hyunseung shouted to Kikwang. He shrugged and walked towards the light switch. Hyun Ki and I began to panic and agreed to make a run for it. Kikwang turned on the light before we made it out the door though. He caught both of our wrists and said in a husky voice, "Gotcha." Hyun Ki and I tried to squirm out of his grip, but it was no use; he was too strong. "YAH! I CAUGHT OUR PRANKSTERS!" He grinned. Everybody stormed out of their rooms. Their ears and faces were red with anger and you could see steam coming out of their ears. Hyun Ki and I laughed.

Everybody shuffled out of their rooms and into the living room, where tangsooyook was waiting for them. Their eyes grew wide and they immediately dug in.

"Sang Mi! You haven't made tangsooyook for us in a long time!" Dongwoon exclaimed.

"What's the special occasion?" Doojoon asked, raising one of his delicate eyebrows. Hyun Ki and I exchanged a glance and giggled.

"Come on, let's eat guys!" I said, ignoring Doojoon. There was no point in saying that since everybody was already munching on their tangsooyook.

Ten minutes later, the six boys raised their bowls high into the air. "MORE PLEASE!" They shouted. I stared in shock. It had been only ten minutes and they already devoured a bowl of tangsooyook!? I was glad Hyun Ki reminded me before I started cooking that the boys were pigs. I got up and placed more tangsooyook in each bowl. They ate happily, each with a satisfying smile on their face.

I had a pleasant sleep that night. Although I was very excited, I was able to contain it. Hyun Ki advised I should sleep earlier to avoid dark circles under my eyes. I wanted to be in top condition for my beloved Hyunseung, right? I pulled the covers up slightly to cover my shoulders. I whispered good night to Hyun Ki, but she was already sound asleep. Not long after, I fell into a pleasant sleep.chapter eight ; can we turn back time ?

My alarm clock rang at exactly 8AM. I groaned and pressed the button so it would stop it's annoying ringing. Slowly, I flopped face flat onto my pillow again. Hyun Ki heard my alarm clock and got out of Yoseob's bed.

"YAH ! GET UP SANG MI. YOU HAVE TO GET READY!" She yelled at me loudly, but quiet enough so that the others wouldn't hear it. I mumbled words even I couldn't make out and began brushing my teeth.

"Hey, Hyung Kay, wha amsh I gronna rear?" I asked her. I walked towards where she was sitting on the floor, with my mouth full of toothpaste. "Go back to washroom and talk to me when you're finished." she complained. She was going through her duffel bag, looking for something. I walked back into the washroom and spit the toothpaste out.

"What am I gonna wear?" I repeated my question.

"Who cares about that right now? Go and take a shower, wash your face, apply some cream to your face and then talk to me!" She shouted frantically. I obeyed and took a t-shirt and jean shorts which I thought were appropriate for the outing. I did everything Hyun Ki told me; shower, apply cream and wash my face. By the time I was finished, it was already 9AM. Oh DONGWOON, I thought while drying my hair. Hyun Ki was nowhere to be found in my room. I walked into the kitchen and saw Hyun Ki preparing some peanut butter sandwiches for everyone. I guess everybody's not up yet, I thought. Including Hyunseung. He wouldn't forget, would he?

"Eat up," Hyun Ki smiled. "After you're done, we're gonna pick your outfit." I quickly scarfed my sandwich down and grinned at Hyun Ki. "Let's go." I got up and walked into my room. Hyun Ki was amazed at my sudden hastiness, but she smiled and laughed to herself, following me into my room.

Hyun Ki had several tops and bottoms laid out onto my bed. Most of the ones she chose were fitting and pretty, but I didn't approve. I didn't want to look like I was trying to hard, but I wanted to look cute. In the end, we decided on a yellow tank top, jean shorts and a pair of brown flip flops. I grinned at my outfit, happy I was cute yet casual looking. Hyun Ki, on the other hand, let out a sigh and helped me apply my makeup. At 9:40AM, I was ready to go. I sneaked down the hallway and peeked into Kikwang and Hyunseung's room. Hyunseung was still sound asleep. Keke, maybe he's doing this on purpose? I smiled to myself and continued my way to the door. Hyun Ki gave me a quick hug and whispered good luck before I left.

I looked up to the sky and tried to shield my eyes from the scorching sun. I was glad I had chosen a tank top. It was quite hot despite the fact there was an ominous black cloud heading towards Seoul. I shrugged and continued to walk to our meeting spot.

Hyunseung's POV

I woke up at 12PM today. I rolled out of bed and sleepily walked into the kitchen to find breakfast. In the living room, I found Dongwoon, Junhyung, Kikwang, Doojoon, and Yoseob already awake and absorbed in a Wii game. I took a sip from a bottle of water and joined them.

Hyun Ki came out of her room in her baggy t-shirt and shorts, covering her mouth to hide her yawn. "Morning guys," she said. We all yelled out good morning to her as she prepared herself a cup of hot chocolate.

"What are we eating for lunch today Hyun Ki?" I asked her. Hyun Ki's head, which was originally dangling from her neck, shot up and glared at me.

"What do you mean?" she snapped at me. "Aren't you supposed to be somewhere?" I thought about it and quickly got up. "Oh yeah!" I said. I quickly slipped into my runners and ran off. Hyun Ki shrugged and continued to prepare her hot chocolate while laughing at the boys' epic fails.

I looked up to the sky to see a dark cloud looming over Seoul. Rain, I thought. I quickly shook that thought out of my brain and made my way down the path.

Hyun Ki's POV

Hyunseung ran out the doorway in his 'dorm clothes'. He was going to see Sang Mi dressed in those? I shrugged; I was glad I was able to jolt Hyunseung's memory. Sang Mi owes me one, I thought. I smiled to myself, satisfied at my good deed. Several minutes later, Hyunseung returned, carrying a handful of bags. What was he doing back so early?

I marched to the doorway where he stood. I pointed at the bags and asked him what those were.

"Food." He said matter-of-factly. Inside, I exploded. My cheeks turned into a deep shade of red and my fists clenched up. I was ready to hit him any time. Doojoon saw my anger building up and quickly scrambled from his spot.

"Whoa baby, calm down," he attempted to hush me. I pushed him away and ignored his pouting face.

"Why did you come back?" I glared at him.

"Why shouldn't I come back?" He answered innocently.

"Don't you remember where you're supposed to be?" I raised my voice. Hyunseung shook his head. I couldn't contain my anger any longer and slapped his cheek. The spot began to turn pink, near red. He covered it with his left hand, dropping the bags. I was ready to hit him a second time but decided against it.

"Let me ask you again. Do you remember what you're supposed to do today?" I asked nicely. Hyunseung shook his head a second time and the bomb inside of me went off.

"Jang Hyunseung, You're supposed to be with Sang Mi, you babo!" I screamed at him. "Who was it that asked Sang Mi to go out with him? Who was it that made Sang Mi so excited?!" For each question I asked, I poked his chest. He leaned back each time.

The other members looked at him with an O shaped mouth.

"Oh yeah..." Hyunseung whispered. I rolled my eyes. He finally remembered, didn't he? "But," he continued, "did she think it was a date?" He questioned.

"What did you say?" I asked him, equally as quiet.

"I asked her out so she could help me pick out a present for a friend... I never thought she would misunderstand."

I gaped at him. Was this foolishness or intelligence he was displaying? At that moment, anger started to build inside of me but I pushed him out of my mind. He was the last person I wanted on my mind at the moment. Frantically, I flipped my cell phone out and dialed Sang Mi's number. I wasn't able to get through though; instead, I got her automatic voice mail.

"Hey guys... can you try calling Sang Mi? I can't get through." Everybody took their cell phone out and dialed Sang Mi's phone number, including Hyunseung. The boys shook their heads and my whole body began to tremble. Doojoon, who was standing beside me the whole time, squeezed my hand. It calmed me down, but not enough. Out of nowhere, my brain hatched an idea.

"Hyunseung! Do you remember where you were supposed to meet Sang Mi?" Hyunseung scratched his head and shook his head. So much for a lead.

The sky grew dark and we heard a loud 'BOOM'. Everybody in the room was startled. I glanced at the clock. 1PM. What should we do now? The rain began to fall from the sky and a light bulb lighted in my brain.

"Everybody! Split up and start searching!" I yelled out, trying to be louder than the thunder and lightning.

"OKAY!" Everybody split up and ran their own way. Please be okay Sang Mi, I thought.

Sang Mi's POV

The rain came pouring down all of a sudden. Not long ago, the sun was shining and it was a great day. What happened?

I took a glance at my watch. It had been 4 hours. Where was Hyunseung? There were multiple times when I decided to go home or somewhere less cold. My mind continued to waver though. What if Hyunseung came when I was gone? My feet stayed glued to the floor.

My lips trembled from the cold rain against my skin. I wrapped my arms around myself and tried to keep warm. My shorts were soaked, my feet were muddy from the dirt and my bag was getting wet. The tree proved no help at all as the raindrops seeped through the leaves. Tears rolled down my cheek. Was this how it felt when you got blown off? I tried to rub the tears away while smudging my makeup. Most of it had been washed away anyway so it was okay.

Even though my vision was blurred by my tears, I was able to make out a human figure running towards me. Could be it Hyunseung? I asked myself. I hung on to that small bit of hope in my heart.

"What are you doing out here all by yourself Sang Mi?!" I heard someone shout at me. I recognized that pure voice, but it wasn't Hyunseung's... He brought me into his arms and looked me in the eye.

"Sang Mi! Are you crying?" I shook my head and stared at the solid, concrete floor. He lifted my chin and used his thumb to wipe away my tears. My vision became clearer - it was Kikwang.

"Ki...kwang?" I whispered.

"The one and only."

He took me into his arms. I clung onto his shirt as if I was going to fall off a cliff and sobbed. His shirt became soggy from my salty tears and from the rain.

We slowly made our way home, back to our dorm, where the others were waiting for us. Junhyung immediately dash into my room and grabbed my towel. He handed it to Kikwang who wrapped it around me. Hyunseung approached me and looked into my eyes. I looked away as I tried to avoid his gaze.

"Sang Mi-ah..." He said softly.

I clamped my ears with my hands like a little kid and turned around, making Hyunseung face Kikwang instead of me. I hid myself in his shirt, gripping it tightly. Kikwang grabbed my hand and lead me to his and Hyunseung's room. He didn't say a word to Hyunseung and brushed past him.

Kikwang got my clothes from my room and made Hyunseung stay there with Yoseob. He prohibited Hyunseung from entering. For the rest of the night, I remained silent except when I was with Kikwang. I felt horrible for ignoring the others, especially Yoseob and Hyun Ki. They had helped me so much; through thick and thin, through rain and sun. I didn't even completely open up to Kikwang that night either, I just gave him simple answers.

That night, I was told by Kikwang to sleep in his bed while he slept in Hyunseung's. It was rare to see him being so considerate. I took him up on his offer, not wanting to be reminded of Hyunseung. I crawled into his bed, inhaling Kikwang's scent. It wasn't what I imagined; I thought every guy would have this disgusting odor that would make you pinch your nose, but boy, was I wrong. His scent made you feel like you were in a field full of flowers and it lulled me to sleep.chapter nine ; shattered again .

The next morning, Kikwang shook my shoulder slightly. I groaned; I didn't want to go to school today. I could pretend I was sick and stay home, but I would feel insecure since I would be the only person in the dorm...

"Sang Mi-ah, get up. It's time for school," he whispered softly. My back was facing Kikwang but when I got up, I was only a mere inch from his face. I never saw Kikwang's face clearer; his dark brown eyes, his hair parted to his right side, his luscious pink lips. The only difference I saw was that his ears were pink, almost red.

"Kikwang," I asked, "Why are your ears red?" It was the first complete sentence I had said since last night. He stared into my eyes for a second and then looked away. "I can't believe it." He mumbled. I tilted my head in confusion.

"Nothing. Go and take a shower." I nodded and closed the door behind me. Must be the heat from the shower, I thought.

After showering and changing into our school uniforms, we walked out of his room and into the kitchen. Everyone was up quite early today; they were all trying to squeeze themselves onto the sofa to watch TV. Hyun Ki came running at me and gave crushed me with her hug.

"Are you okay?" She asked me. I nodded and pulled away. As I poured a cup of milk for myself and Kikwang, I felt all the attention had been directed at me. Kikwang gulped his glass of milk down and grabbed my hand. "Come on, let's go grab some breakfast." We walked out the door, hand in hand. In the distance, I heard Junhyung ask Hyun Ki, "What are we gonna eat for breakfast?"

Even as we walked through the streets to the local bakery, Kikwang held my hand tightly. Slowly, his fingers interlaced mine. I took a glance at Kikwang as he looked far off into the distance, but I noticed his ears were red again. There was no shower or heat; it was still spring and a bit cold, so why were they red?

We entered the bakery, still hand in hand. It's not like I didn't like it, but I felt like I was betraying someone or something. Yet my instincts told me not to let go or I would lose something important. We strolled the bakery multiple times before picking our favourite bread. When we brought our bread to the cashier lady, she smiled and giggled at us.

"I'll give you a discount for being such a cute couple." She placed our packaged bread in a bag and Kikwang handed her the money. I was tempted to tell the lady we weren't a couple; we were merely friends. However, he grabbed the bag with his other free hand and lead me out the door before I could say anything. "Come back soon!" The lady shouted behind us.

We began our route back to the school. He handed me my sausage bun and took out his red bean bun. I nibbled on it slightly. Kikwang took a bite of his bun and noticed I was barely eating. "You want to try some?" He raised his bun lower and chuckled. I looked up at him like a lost little child and unconsciously leaned in to take a bite. It was sweet and bitter at the same time. I raised my sausage bun to his mouth and he took a bite too. He laughed and continued walking, his large hand still protecting mine.

When we arrived at school, we threw away the bags that packaged our buns and I squirmed out of his soft grip. He seemed to have understood and we walked silently to our classroom. Hyun Ki and Yoseob who were already in their seats waiting for us, got up from their seats when they saw us entering the classroom. They stood in front of us and exchanged worried glances with Kikwang. I took a glimpse at them while they were exchanging glances with Kikwang. Did Yoseob and Hyun Ki sleep at all last night? They had dark bags under their eyes and their faces were pale and tensed.

"Sorry for worrying you guys." I looked at my black school shoes. I noticed there was a small scratch on it. It was also the first complete sentence I had said to someone other than Kikwang. Their face softened and they welcomed me into their arms, hugging me tightly.

"Just don't ever make us worry like that again, okay?" Yoseob and Hyun Ki comforted me like parents did with their child. It brought back memories of my family, of the happy times we shared when Shin Mi was still with us. We broke apart when we noticed a huge shadow towering over us.

"Please take a seat children." The teacher said calmly. We quickly scrambled to our seats and giggled. The teacher was not amused but ignored it and continued roll call.

At lunch, everyone gathered at the big tree again. "Are you going to be okay?" Hyun Ki asked me. "Why wouldn't I be?" I knew what she was referring to but I pretended not to know. Dongwoon, Doojoon and Junhyung were already waiting under the tree when we arrived. They smiled at me and I returned a smile too. We sat down and began eating as laughter filled the area under the big tree. Ten minutes later, Hyunseung appeared.

"Sorry I'm late." He panted. "I had some things to do." We welcomed him and he sat across from me in the circle. I acted as though nothing happened between us but my heart throbbed at the sight of him. I didn't participate in the conversations being held, only eating my rice. Kikwang, who sat beside me, saw the hidden pained and tensed expression. He squeezed my hand to let me know I wasn't alone. My whole body relaxed and our hands were intertwined for a portion of the lunch hour.

As usual, Hyun Ki went upstairs to wait for Doojoon and Yoseob went to check when the music room was available. He had been complaining how there was never any silence in the dorm and it was making him fail music. That left Kikwang and me to walk home. On our way out to the front of the school, we saw Hyunseung wrapping his arms around a girl. My eyes bulged out. Who was she?

Kikwang's POV

We were walking to the front of the school when we saw Hyunseung wrapping his arms around a girl. My eyes widened in shock. I looked down at Sang Mi. Her face became pale and her body was slightly shaking. However, she continued to approach Hyunseung. I followed after her, afraid something terrible may happen.

"Hyunseung," Sang Mi began, "who is she?" She pointed her finger at the girl, her whole arm trembling.

"She? She's my girlfriend." He nuzzled his chin into her shoulder and she giggled. I took a glimpse at Sang Mi and I saw her holding back tears.

"Come on Sang Mi, let's go." I pulled her hand and shot Hyunseung a death glare. We ran all the way home and I could feel Sang Mi's tears rushing down her cheeks. The wind was strong enough to pick up her tears which landed on my cheek. When we arrived at the front of our dorm, I lead Sang Mi to my room and welcomed her into my arms. She gladly threw herself at me and cried. How many times had Sang Mi cried these past few months? I stroked her soft, black hair like a baby and she fell asleep in my arms. Lifting and carrying her like a princess, I laid her in my bed again. The front door slammed open and I knew that the others were back.

"I'll be back Sang Mi." I whispered to her. Stroking her bangs to the side, I wiped the last tear that was escaping her left eye before closing the door gently behind me.

"Hey guys." They looked at me and I knew they were wondering the same thing. Where was Sang Mi?

"She's sleeping in my room." I answered. An awkward silence then filled the air. Hyun Ki was the first to break it.

"Did you see Hyunseung's girlfriend?" She whispered. "Yeah," I finally said.

"Did she -" Hyun Ki started. I nodded sadly and Hyun Ki didn't say any more.

"That stupid jerk. When I get my hands on him..." Junhyung grit his teeth. "Junhyung, don't. If Sang Mi finds out, she'll never forgive you." Dongwoon placed his hand on Junhyung's shoulder.

The door behind them clicked open. We all turned around and saw Hyunseung in the doorway. "I'm back." He yelled, even though we were standing in front of him. "Oh, why are you all still in your shoes?" No one answered him; he continued to walk to his room.

"Hyunseung, don't go yet." Doojoon held him arm straight out, blocking his path and looked into his eyes. The atmosphere in the room tensed up as we braced ourselves for what Doojoon was going to say next.

"Why did you get a girlfriend?"

Hyunseung returned Doojoon's stare. "Because I like her."

"What about Sang Mi? Why were you always protecting her?"

"I was protecting her as a friend and nothing more."

"Then what about the date?" Doojoon raised his voice slightly from his anger.

"I wanted her advice; I was going to confess to that girl, who is now my girlfriend, and I wanted a present to go along with it. I told you that already last night! May I be excused now? I have a lot of things to do."

Hyunseung brushed past Doojoon but bumped into me and Junhyung. Our anger were at their highest points but I was the first to explode. I shoved Hyunseung to the floor, who fell at Doojoon's feet.

"Yah, Lee Kikwang! Calm down!" Both of them shouted in my ear. They tried to pull me back, but I yanked away from their grip. I picked Hyunseung up by his collar and my eyes bored into his.

"You b*st*rd." I snarled at him. It had been a while since I swore at someone, especially someone close to me.

"How could you do this Sang Mi when she loved you so much!?" I threw a punch at his face and he stumbled to the floor. Doojoon and Junhyung quickly pulled me back with more strength this time while I tried my hardest to escape their grip.

"He may deserve a lot of beatings, but not right now!" Junhyung yelled at me. I kept trying to escape their grip until a low whimper entered my ears. Everybody turned and saw Sang Mi's tears slowly flowing out again.

Sang Mi's POV

I woke up to the sound of the clicking door. Pressing my ear against the door, I heard their whole conversation. A loud 'THUMP' shook the floor. I cracked open the door and discovered Hyunseung on the floor with a bruise on his cheek and Kikwang being held back by Junhyung and Doojoon. I covered my mouth and let out a low whimper, causing everyone to turn around. Tears began flowing out again and I rushed back inside Kikwang's room. I curled into a ball and tried to ignore all the sounds and surroundings. Heavy footsteps came rushing to the front of the door. Someone attempted to open the door, but I had locked it from the inside.

"Sang Mi! Open up!" Yoseob cried. They shouted words of plead but I didn't open the door. They quieted down after a few minutes. They whispered something to each other before someone spoke. My face was still buried between my legs, my salty tears washing down my thigh to my skirt.

"Sang Mi-ah." It was Kikwang.

"Go away!" I cried out.

"Can you at least one of us in?"

I didn't answer him. They began pounding the door. I needed to get out, and fast. I didn't want to suffocate in this place. Above the two desks was a window high enough for me to reach. I walked towards the window and opened it wide enough for me to jump out. Kikwang and Hyunseung's desk, which were side by side, were filled with dust. I traced the words 'goodbye' in the dust and stepped on their desk. Looking behind me one last time, I jumped out. Landing on my feet, I felt a slight pain crawl up my leg but ignored it. From there, I ran as far as my legs could take me.
