W here did May go? Before we know it, it will be October, so get out here and en-

joy this beautiful place and challenging, but fun, golf course.

Take a couple of minutes to look inside, read Christian’s welcoming words and

list of events for everyone in the family to enjoy, learn why the annoyances of aerification we

endure is for a great benefit to the turf, and make sure you check out the Junior Golf clinic

schedule. The kids are sure to have a good time while learning how to play golf.

Friday night dinners have begun for the season. Dinners are open to the entire member-

ship. It would be helpful if you’d let us know if you are coming for dinner if you’re not play-

ing in the couples event. And if you are playing, let us know if you plan to stay for dinner.

Hope to see you everyone out here, and remember to greet all of our new members!

From the Manager

A s the month of June arrives the golf course is in great

condition. After some rainy weather last month, the

course has dried out nicely and we have begun to

irrigate when necessary. We just finished a successful deep

tine aerification of the greens. This process punctures half inch

holes in the green to a depth of eight to 10 inches. When the

machine punches into the

green, it fractures the soil

horizontally between the

holes.

This whole procedure is

designed to created pore

space in the soil profile for an easier exchange of oxygen and

water in the root zone. New roots grow throughout these soil

fissures to more efficiently boost the health of the tree. At the

same time we topdress heavily to at least partially fill the holes,

more importantly to smooth the surface and promote bacterial

processes in the thatch layer.

In the coming month you will see a similar process repeated

throughout the course. I hope to get fairways aerified when the

right stretch of weather comes along. We also will be aerifying

tees and collars as well.

Still on the schedule when the course gets completely dry

will be the removal of several Ash trees on the course. The

large tree on the right side of hole 10 will be first on the list.

Please remember to do your part in keeping the course nice

for all. So far ballmark repair has been poor, partly because we

were so wet, but mostly we need everyone to do their part. If

you don’t know how to properly repair a ballmark, just ask Jim

or Greg in the golf shop.

DDDDIDIDIDID YOUYOUYOUYOU KNOWKNOWKNOWKNOW: A typical

18 hole golf course pro-

duces enough oxygen to

support 4,000-7,000 people.

John Westermeier, CGCS

I hope this reaches everyone in good health and spirits!

Hopefully you had a happy and safe Memorial Day

weekend with your family. It was nice to have a long dry

weekend. Hopefully June will bring even better golf weather

to enjoy!

The month of June brings many events for everyone to en-

joy. Please check the calendar and the website to keep in-

formed on upcoming events. A few events happening in June:

junior golf, couples golf, ladies and men’s events. The very

popular Friday night couples golf is every Friday at 5:30 p.m.

through Labor Day weekend. Once again this year Chef

Jeffery will be preparing a delicious dinner buffet every week.

Friday, June 10 he will be serving: Meat & Veggie Lasagna,

Shrimp Alfredo, Toss Salad, Green Beans, French Bread .

The menu for each week will be posted on the club’s home-

page of the website.

The golf course staff has done a great job keeping the

course in great shape. Please thank anyone on the staff for all

the hard work they do on your course. Every spring the rough

is thick and healthy; we mow the rough at the height of 2 1/2”

all year long. Please do your part to help the staff out by fix-

ing ballmarks, replacing divots and using proper cart etiquette.

I would like to welcome all of our new members to Twin

Lakes Golf Club and thank their sponsors for their support.

Please pass along our membership promotion to any potential

new members to ensure they take advantage of a great value.

Remember we are open for lunch Tuesday through Sunday

and for dinner Fridays through the season. As always, please

let me know if I can be of any assistance with anything. I

look forward to seeing you out enjoying your club!
