THE FACE OF MERCY
Thinking about the virtue of mercy, we direct our attention to the Mother of Mercy. The tenderness
of her eyes be with us, her children all through our lives. Thinking of Her, we discover the joy of
the love and tenderness of our God. No one as Mary has known the profound depths of the mystery
of God, made Man. All in Jesus’ life was marked by the presence of Mercy, made a Human Being.
The Mother of the Crucified and Resurrected Christ, entered in the sanctuary of the Divine Mercy,
because she intimately participated in the mystery of His immense Love for God his Father and
for humanity.
Elected to be the Mother of the Son of God, Mary was prepared since always to be the Arch of the
Alliance between God and men, She guarded in her Heart the Divine Mercy in perfect accordance
with her Son, Jesus, Her hymn of praise, at the entrance of Elizabeth’s home, was dedicated to the
Mercy of God, that extends “from generation through generation” (Lc. 1,50). We were all present
in those prophetic words of the Virgin Mary. This thought will help us as consolation while we
walk in this “Valley of Tears” to experience the fruits of the Divine Mercy.
At the foot of the Cross, Mary along with John, the disciple of love, were witnesses of the words
of pardon that came out from the mouth of Jesus. The supreme forgiveness offered to those who
crucified Him demonstrate how far can the Mercy of God go.
Mary testifies that the Mercy of the Son of God does not know limits and is for everyone, without
excluding anyone. For this reason, let us direct to Her the old and ever new prayer: “Hail Holy
Queen” (Salve Regina), so She will never become tired to turn her merciful eyes to us, and we
trust that She will make us worthy to contemplate the face of Mercy of her Son Jesus and of also
that of Herself.
Our prayer extends also to so many Saints that have made of the virtue of Mercy their life mission.
Our thought is directed especially to the great Apostle of Mercy: St. Faustina Kowalska. She was
called to enter in the depths of the Divine Mercy, so that she can intercede for us and help us to
live and walk always in the forgiveness God and the trust of His unbreakable love for us.
Let us be also apostles of the Mercy of God, talking about it to our family members, friends, co-
workers, etc., of our beautiful, loving Father, who gives us his merciful love every day of our lives. ---Sister Celia Campoy, MDPVM

HURRICANE HARVEY HELP
WE NEED YOU!
If your group, family, friends or yourself are looking for ways to volunteer to
help with Hurricane Harvey relief efforts in our communities we can help. We
are in contact with municipalities getting daily updates where volunteers are
most needed and can assist in advising where your skills can be best shared.
Contact Deacon Richard Longoria at 361-446-2291 or email at
[email protected] for more information. Catholic Charities needs lots of
help packing and unpacking donations for hurricane relief. It now has opened a
second warehouse for donations. Please, pass on the need to your various parish
organizations that people are needed to sort, pack and unpack. Please contact
me or Catholic Charities directly. To sign up go to offices at 615 Oliver, which
is near Up River Rd and Old Robstown Rd, close to Leopard. The phone
number there is 361-884-0651. They need volunteers Monday through Friday,
9a-5p and Saturday's 9a-12noon. Or call me, Deacon Richard Longoria, 361-
446-2291. Please put out the word to your various organizations, youth groups,
scout groups, K of C, Guadalupanas, Catholic Daughters, men's clubs etc. The
need is great! The people of God are in great need.
Also, the Red Cross has a need for licensed drivers who are 21 years above in
our area. The RC needs people to pick up personnel at the airport and take to
local staging area, which is set up at First Baptist Church on 3115 Ocean Drive
in Corpus Christi, 361-888-8228, ask for Red Cross which is staged in the
church's rec center, and it's open from 6a-6p every day. Ask for Lou Halley.
She is heading up the effort to find drivers. Drivers are needed to take RC
personnel from stage area to various relief centers, to pick up personnel at the
airport and take them to the stage area. Drivers are needed to take supplies to
the relief centers. No one needs to use their own vehicles. Red Cross will give
you the vehicle. Some may qualify for driving RC trucks and others, regular
type driving chores than don't need any special drivers licenses. If you can only
donate a few hours a day or week fine, if you can only donate your time on the
weekend, fine..
Please pass on my information to all your organizations in your parish. The
effects of Hurricane Harvey will be in our area for many months. Call the two
organizations directly or call Deacon Richard at 361-446-2291.
