Dear Parishioners and Friends, "The word of God is the seed, and Christ is the cul-

vator..." - This is what we read in the Gospel pas-sage reserved for this Sunday. Since we are the disciples of Jesus, we are called to con nue to seed His fields. This is how we expand the Kingdom of God on earth. Jesus desires that His kingdom be born in the heart of every man and spread throughout the world, un l the moment when the Lord will come again and we will be filled with all of His promises. To implement the mission commissioned by God, we need pa ence. A story talks of a man who prepared his plot well, watered it profusely and planted his seeds. A er a few weeks he saw the first plants star ng to grow. He was sur-prised because his neighbor's plants were bigger. Each day he was losing pa ence. With concern for the future of his harvest he could not sleep at night. Un l one such sleepless night, he came up with a brilliant idea in his opinion. He quickly ran into the field and began to pull and stretch on every plant to help it grow faster. It was a very laborious and tedious task. When he finished, he was very red. He went to sleep, and when he got up, he went to his neighbor to tell him what he did. When they came to the field they saw that all of the plants had died; everything was destroyed. The whole village laughed at this man for a long me, a man who had no pa ence. Each of us a er sowing our seeds should not forget that they grow and yield crops by themselves. Therefore, trus ng God and relying on His foresight, we should throw our seeds in the ground, then let them rest there, un l they are ready to grow. We should give God our abili es, and trust in the power of His love and the power of prayer. When we are in close proximity to God and take care of the affairs of His kingdom, God takes care of the affairs of our everyday life. Fidelity to the Gospel requires that each Chris an family is always ready to welcome a new life, to share their wealth with the poor, to be open and hospitable towards oth-ers. Families today some mes feel obliged to lead a way of life which is opposed to the dominant culture. A Chris an family should bear witness to the stability of the Chris an spirit. The family should show how through an honest life, responsible behavior, diligent work, and caring for the wellbeing of others they are sowing another one of God's grains and wai ng for it to bear its fruit. Dear parents take care of your children and adolescent youth. They are growing up in a world full of sin and are the most vulnerable to the evil around them. Cigare es, alcohol, drugs, and profanity, are not a sign of maturity or manhood, but ra-ther a sign of weakness. If possible send your children to Cath-olic schools that truly prepare them for life in the adult world. Drodzy Parafianie i Przyjaciele, „Ziarnem jest słowo Boże, a siewcą jest Chrystus…” – czytamy we fragmencie Ewangelii przeznaczonym na dzisiejszą niedzielę. Skoro jesteśmy uczniami Jezusa, to znaczy, że zostaliśmy wezwani do tego, abyśmy stawali się ludźmi siewu. W ten sposób rozwijamy Królestwo Boże na ziemi. Jezus pragnie, by Jego królestwo rodziło się w sercu każdego

człowieka i rozpowszechniało w całym świecie, aż do chwili, kiedy Pan przyjdzie powtórnie i zostaną wypełnione wszystkie Jego obietnice. Aby dobrze zrealizować misję, zleconą nam przez Boga, potrzebna jest cierpliwość. Pewna historia opowiada o człowieku, który dobrze przygotował swoje poletko, nawodnił je obficie i na nim posadził nasionka. Po kilku tygodniach zobaczył pierwsze roślinki. Dziwił się: gdyż u sąsiada wszystko było większe. Z dnia na dzień tracił cierpliwość. Z troski o przyszłe zbiory nie mógł spać po nocach. Aż którejś takiej bezsennej nocy wpadł na genialny w swoim mniemaniu pomysł: pobiegł szybko na pole i zaczął wyciągać i naciągać każdą roślinkę, aby jej pomóc w szybkim wzroście. Była to bardzo mozolna i uciążliwa praca. Gdy ją skończył, był bardzo zmęczony. Poszedł spać, a gdy wstał, udał się do sąsiada, powiedzieć mu, czego to on dokonał, w jaki to sposób pomógł swoim roślinkom. Gdy przyszli obaj na pole ujrzeli, że rośliny zginęły: wszystko było zniszczone. Cała wioska śmiała się długo z tego człowieka, który nie umiał czekać. Każdy z nas po zasianiu ziarna nie powinien zapominać, że ono „samo rośnie i wydaje plon”. Dlatego ufając Bogu i zdając się na Jego Opatrzność, mamy rzucać ziarno w ziemię, a potem pozwolić, by tam obumarło, wzrosło i wydało plon. Powinniśmy dawać Bogu swoje zdolności, swoje życie i ufać mocy Jego miłości oraz sile modlitwy. Kiedy jesteśmy w bliskości Boga i troszczymy się o sprawy królestwa, to Bóg troszczy się o nasze sprawy codziennego życia. Wierność Ewangelii wymaga, aby każda rodzina chrześcijańska była gotowa również na przyjęcie nowego życia, na dzielenie się swoimi dobrami z ubogimi, na otwarcie się i gościnność wobec innych. Czasami rodzina dzisiaj jest zobowiązana do wyboru dla siebie takiego sposobu życia, który sprzeciwia się panującej kulturze. Wobec grzechu i upadku dobra rodzina powinna dawać świadectwo stałości ducha chrześcijańskiego. Rodzina ma pokazywać, jak przez uczciwe życie, odpowiedzialne postępowanie, sumienną pracę, czy troskę o zdrowie i życie innych, rzucać kolejne ziarna, oczekując na wzrost. Drodzy rodzice troszczcie się o wasze dzieci i dorastającą młodzież. Oni w tym pełnym grzechu świecie są najbardziej narażeni na otaczające ich zło. Papierosy, alkohol, narkotyki, przekleństwa, nie są znakiem ani dojrzałości ani męskości, są raczej znakiem słabości. O ile to możliwe posyłajcie wasze dzieci do dobrych szkół katolickich, które dobrze przygotują ich do życia w świecie dorosłych. Zapraszam do naszej wspaniałej Szkoły Świętej Konstancji! In an cipa on of the approaching 100-year anniversary of St. Constance Parish, you are invited to purchase from the "Tree of Life" a leaf on which you can place the names of your loved ones: par-ents, siblings, rela ves, friends, parishioners, priests, nuns, etc. Both the living and the dead can be named, so that their memory will last forever. You can have your own name on a leaf or choose to name your family. Proceeds from this project will be used for repairs of the church parking area and parish buildings. There are both large and small leaves on the "Tree of Life". For the engraving and moun ng of each small leaf, the dona on is $250.00, while for each large leaf it is $400.00. The number of leaves is limited and there may not be enough for everyone. Please visit the rectory office to complete all neces-sary transac ons.

T he first rule of life in Robert Fulghum’s classic li le book, All I Really Need to Know I Learned

in Kindergarten is simple enough: Share everything. It’s a fundamental concept, and it’s been around a while. John the Bap st put it this way millenniums ago: “Whoever has two cloaks should share with the person who has none,” and much more recently, John Lennon expanded the vision: “Imagine no possessions/ I wonder if you can/ No need for greed and hunger/ A brotherhood of man/ Imagine all the people/ Sharing all the world.” It sounds good on paper--and in a song--but it’s hard. At least it was hard when I was a kid (think Halloween candy). I’ve go en be er at sharing, certainly, but I’ve got a long way to go. And the hardest thing for me to share these days is no longer a physical thing per se, but an intangible element: me. There are only so many hours in a day, and mine are pre y well-spoken for. But some mes friends ask me to, say, move a couch, or paint a fence. Occasionally I just say no. Occasionally I say yes, but begrudgingly. If God loves a joyful giver--and He does--then I don’t always qualify.

Neither, though, does Joshua in today’s first reading. Here, the Lord comes down in a cloud, and taking some of the spirit already on Moses, God bestows it on seventy elders. Two men--Eldad and Medad--were not part of the gathering, but the spirit comes to rest upon them as well, and they begin to proph-esy in the camp. Joshua could have spoken a blessing over the two, but instead he turns to his friend and long- me patriarch and says, “Moses, my lord, stop them.” Moses’ simple response is one of my favorite lines in all of Scripture: “Would that all the people of the Lord were prophets.” And in a similar vein, the apostle John in today’s Gospel isn’t happy finding God’s favor on another. He takes his dissa sfac on directly to Jesus, in fact. “Teacher,” John says, “we saw someone driving out demons in your name, and we tried to prevent him because he does not follow us.” Jesus responds, “Do not prevent him. There is no one who performs a mighty deed in my name who can at the same me speak ill of me. For whoever is not against us is for us. Anyone who gives you a cup of water to drink because you belong to Christ, amen, I say to you, will surely not lose his re-ward.” Years ago at an Easter Sunday Mass that had way more people a ending than usual, I overheard two people talking as they packed themselves into a pew. “They only come on Easter and Christmas” one complained to the other. Uh…don’t we want our churches filled? Isn’t this a good thing? It’s a difficult concept to embrace, but when somebody--you, me, anybody--does something to build up the Kingdom, we all gain. Converse-ly, when somebody--you, me, anybody--does something to tear down the Kingdom, we all lose. Remember Moses: “Would that all the people of the Lord were prophets.” Remember Jesus: “There is no one who performs a mighty deed in my name who can at the same me speak ill of me.” When the Kingdom gains, we all gain.

The flu shots are available to adults and children 10 years and older. Usually our health insurance covers the flu shots, but in case you have no insurance coverage or your insurance will not cover the service, you will receive a coupon to cover the cost.

CATECHETICAL SUNDAY – SEPTEMBER 27, 2015 – 10:30 AM This year we will celebrate Cateche cal Sunday with our St. Constance School teachers and REP catechists on September 27. The theme for this year is: "Safeguarding the Dignity of Every Person." Cateche cal Sunday is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the role that each person plays, by virtue of Bap sm, in handing on the faith and being a witness to the Gospel. Cateche cal Sunday is an opportunity for all to rededicate themselves to this mission as a community of faith.

THE IMPORTANCE OF FAMILY ROSARY This ar cle is taken from the booklet "Our Glorious Faith and How To Lose It" wri en by Fr. Hugh Thwaites

Without delay now, I want to talk about my theme. It seems to me that a principal cause of the loss of faith is the dropping off in the prac ce of the family rosary. In Austria, a er World War II, there was a complete collapse of voca ons. One year, apparently, no one at all entered the seminaries. So the bishops held a synod, to find out how it could be that this had happened. The conclusion they reached was that the war had so disrupted family life that the centuries-old prac ce of the rosary in the home had stopped, and had just not started up again. This is my experience, too; when the rosary goes, the faith soon collapses. I remember someone telling me of a friend of his, a great Catholic, the pillar of the parish, whose children had all lapsed, one a er the other. They had all fallen away from the sacraments and from a ending Mass. So I said to him, "I wouldn't mind be ng that your friend had been brought up to recite the family rosary when he was a boy, and that his children haven't." The next me I saw him, he said that this was indeed true. His friend had recited the family rosary at home when he was a boy, and when he had got married and started his own family they all said the rosary. But then, one evening when they were about to start the rosary, one of the children switched on the television, and that was that. The custom of the family rosary was dropped, and in due course, they gave up the prac ce of the faith. A er this life, that one unrebuked ac on will be seen to have affected the eternity of many people. God sent His Mother to Fa ma to tell us that we had to say the rosary every day. There were no other prayers She asked us to say. Accordingly, we should do what She asked. A layman I met once who did not say his rosary told me that he read the breviary every day. That is fine. It is what priests have to do. It is the prayer of the Church. So in a way it is be er than the rosary. But it is not what Our Lady asked for. She asked for the rosary. If a mother sends her child to the shop for a bo le of milk, and he comes back instead with ice cream, is she pleased? In a way, ice cream is be er than milk, but it is not what she asked for. In that most holy home at Nazareth, do you think that Our Lady had to ask for anything twice? If we want in any way to be like Jesus, we must do what His Mother asks. If we do not, can we expect things to go right? We cannot with impunity disobey the Mother of God. She knows be er than we the dangers of this spiritual warfare. She sees more clearly than we do the dangers that beset us. She warns us: You must say your rosary every day.

INFORMACJE O SAKRAMENTACH ŚWI ĘTYCH Chrzty… Sakrament Chrztu Świętego jest udzielany w języku angielskim i polskim. Chrzty w języku angielskim są w pierwszą i trzecią niedzielę, a w języku polskim w drugą i czwartą niedzielę każdego miesiąca. Rodzice są zobowiązani do wzięcia udziału w spotkaniu przygotowującym do tego sakramentu przed planowaną datą chrztu dziecka. Prosimy o skontaktowanie się z biurem parafialnym, aby zgłosić dziecko do chrztu. Sakrament Małżeństwa… Archidiecezja Chicago zaleca, aby osoby, które planują zawarcie sakramentu małżeństwa zgłosiły się do biura parafialnego co najmniej cztery miesiące przed datą ślubu. Chcielibyśmy i usilnie zalecamy, aby w naszej parafii okres przygotowania trwać sześć miesięcy. Prosimy, abyście najpierw ustalili termin w kościele, a następnie w innych miejscach. Zapraszamy więc do naszego biura parafialnego najwcześniej jak tylko jest to możliwe . Sakrament Namaszczenia Chorych… Prosimy o kontakt z księdzem w celu ustalenia terminu przyjęcia tego sakramentu. Przypominamy, że nie wolno zwlekać z udzieleniem sakramentu chorych do momentu kiedy osoba będzie nieprzytomna lub bliska śmierci.
