We have been serving Christ in this location for over two hundred sixty years. The monuments in our church and the graves in our churchyard reflect the conflicts and complexities of our nation’s and our city’s history. While our building is old and beautiful, our mission is contemporary and forward moving. Here you will find a people very much connected with the questions and struggles of modern life and faith and of following the way of Jesus.

About Receiving Holy Communion

ALL who come in faith are invited to receive Holy Communion at Saint Paul’s.

• During communion, the people form two short lines in the center aisle at the steps. After receiv-ing the bread and wine or a blessing at the altar rail, please exit through the door to the left of the altar and return to your pew via the side aisles.

• For those who may prefer not to receive communion at the main altar, a communion station is provided on the main floor to the right of the center aisle. If you are unable to receive at either station, the clergy will bring the bread and wine to your pew. Please notify an usher before the service begins.

• To receive a blessing at the altar rail without receiving Communion, cross your arms over your chest, palms on your collar, until the person on your left has received both the bread and the wine.

• If your children are in the nursery, you are invited to bring them to receive Holy Communion or a blessing.

The Second Lesson Hebrews 10:11-25

Every priest stands day after day at his service, offering again and again the same sacrifices that can never take away sins. But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, “he sat down at the right hand of God,” and since then has been waiting “until his enemies would be made a footstool for his feet.” For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are sanctified. And the Holy Spirit also testifies to us, for after saying,

“This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord: I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds,”he also adds,

“I will remember their sins and their lawless deeds no more.”Where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer any offering for sin.

Therefore, my friends, since we have confidence to enter the sanctuary by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain (that is, through his flesh), and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us approach with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. The Nicene Creed All Stand

All We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made.

For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

Bring your family and friends to the Thanksgiving Eve Eucharist, Wednesday, November 21 at 7 pm. The Saint Paul’s and Canterbury choirs will sing traditional music. Blessed loaves of bread for use at the Thanksgiv-ing meal will be given to all. The offering Thanksgiving Eve will be given to the DCCM (Downtown Cooperative Church Ministries) Food Bank. Join us in giving thanks on this national & religious holiday.

The Parish Office will be closed Thursday, November 22 and Friday, November 23 in observance of Thanksgiving.

The Flower Guild invites you to their fall workshop, Saturday, December 1, 10 am-noon. If you’ve always wanted to learn more about the basics of creating beautiful arrangements, join the workshop to see how a few guidelines can make arranging easy, just in time for your holiday entertaining. Make an Advent Wreath for your Home — Join us in Tyler Hall, Sunday, December 2, 9 - 10:50 am to make an Advent Wreath for your home. All supplies will be provided, including wreathes, live greens, and candles. $10 donation. We have supplies for 40 wreathes. Please RSVP to the parish office at mailbox@saintpauls.org so that we can ensure we have supplies for all.

Make plans to join us for the annual Angel Tree Christmas Breakfast Party, Saturday, December 8, 9:30 am in Tyler Hall. We will enjoy a delicious home-cooked breakfast and celebrate with cookie decorating, story time, live music, and lots of fun and fellowship.
