Gloria’s Kudo Korner

St. Mother Teresa’s Daily Bread Ministry has grown because of your compassion and generosity. The first six months of this year, 392 families received food products; in addi on about 90 people were given u lity assistance. We offer food boxes to families who come for u lity assistance, and on the fourth Wednesday of the month the Pantry is open for all others in need . When our Daily Bread Ministry started, we had a small corner in one of the school classrooms with four freestanding shelves to place our canned products and 8 bins to place perishable items rice, beans, flour, pasta, etc. We were running out of room and Father Bill felt we needed to expand so another classroom was divided which to give us more space. Our Wednesday Men Volunteers did the carpentry work required to secure a par on between the classroom and our pantry. Casa de Pellegrino has been so generous to our ministry. They gave us two commercial shelves to place all non-perishables. In addi on, they have shared produce, which I pick up on Monday or Tuesday. We now have a refrigerator to place these items in for distribu ons on Wednesday. “Good works are links that form a chain of love.” Mother Teresa. I will share this personal moment, which is so vital in sharing your gi s with others: On the fourth Wednesday of each month and before we give out the boxes to the people who come, we pray for what they are going to receive and to thank you also for giving from your heart. That moment of prayer and thanksgiving is very humbling and their faces show the gra tude Peace and Blessings to all.

Note from Fr. Bill

There is a scam going around involving myself and other priests. Parishioners have received text messages or emails in my name reques ng money due to some supposed emergency. Know that this is a scam and please do not respond.

Proper Etiquette for Mass I will be running a series of short articles on the proper etiquette for Mass over the next several weeks. When I was a child I received this training from the good nuns who taught at my Catholic School. Today a small percentage of Catholic children are getting good instruction on some of the basics. This will be a good refresher for adults as well. Fr. Bill. Holy Communion When you receive Holy Communion (the host) you may receive on the tongue or in the hand. If you receive on the tongue you must stick your tongue out a little bit so that minster of Communion doesn’t have to put his or her fingers in your mouth. It’s a matter of good hygiene. If you receive in the hand you should allow the minister to place the host on the open palm of your hand. Please don’t try to grab the host with your fingers. This increases the chance of the host being fumbled. Before receiving the host or the precious blood from the chalice you should make a gesture of reverence – a bow or a genuflection. The minister will say “Body of Christ” for the host and “Blood of Christ” for the precious blood. In each case you will respond “Amen” which means you express your believe that you are truly receiving the actual body and blood of Jesus. What a great gift to receive our Lord in this great mystery of His sacramental presence!
