In Oldenzaal, the Netherlands. 10,000 sqm. Meaningful education in a coherent program. Students learn to make choices that further their development. The site is small and located in a park. This calls for very compact design. A transparent learning landscape, without corridors. Educational innovation was a major goal. Teachers and staff were deeply involved in the process. The transparency was a particularly bold choice. Students and teachers grew accustomed to it surprisingly quickly. Thanks to the use of acoustic glass, among other features. Use of colour to aid the sense of direction; with brightly coloured strips in the learning areas. Design: BroekBakema architects
