August 16, 2020 Twen eth Sunday in Ordinary Time Live-stream Mass—Please join us as we continue to live-stream Mass at 5:00 p.m. on Saturdays. You may go to the parish website: www.rocklincatholic.org and you will

see the link on the front page. These live-streamed Masses are also available on You Tube. A HUGE Thank You to our parishioner, Dan Welz who makes this possible each week!

2020 - YEAR OF PARISH MINISTRIES Ministry of the weekend is the SS. Peter & Paul Security Ministry

May God bless this Ministry and those that serve our SS. Peter & Paul Family.

In light of the COVID-19 Pandemic,

1. The Church will be open Daily from 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM. for those who wish to have a quiet place for personal prayer. The Church will be closed on Saturdays to clean and sanitize for the livestream Mass.

2. The Chapel will be closed.

3. The Sacrament of Reconciliation will be offered from 3:30-4:15 PM on Saturdays under the redwood tree. Please practice social distancing measures while waiting in line.

4. All Parish Offices will remain closed at this time and staff will be working remotely. We are here for you should you need anything. You may leave a message or email individual staff members if you have questions or specific needs. Please continue to pray for those affected by this Coronavirus outbreak. God Bless and be well!

Though we are not gathering as a full community during this difficult time, we are all united in Christ. Let us continue to offer our prayers for healing and protection. As you are aware, our parish is totally dependent on your contributions (offerings). If you are able, please continue your weekly offering by mailing in your contributions or by donating online. If you have never donated online before, please contact Lawanda at 916-624-5827, ext. 206 or [email protected] to get your envelope/ID number. You must have this information before you set up an online donation. Thank you for your generosity. It is more important than ever! God Bless, and be well!

Book Club Selection—We've selected a book that came highly recommended. In The Misunderstood Jew, scholar Amy-Jill Levine helps Christians and Jews understand the "Jewishness" of Jesus so that their appreciation of him deepens and a greater interfaith dialogue can take place. Levine's humor and informed truth-telling provokes honest conversation and debate about how Christians and Jews should understand Jesus, the New Testament, and each other. You can purchase it yourself on Amazon.com. If you are unable to purchase it online, please contact Darcy at [email protected] and we will arrange for contactless pickup.($14). Our discussion will now take place on Oct. 6th at 6:00 PM. We are hoping to meet in person, but if not, we will have an online discussion.

Each week our attendance at our Outdoor Mass Increases! It’s so wonderful to see you!

A huge Thank You to parishioner, Mark Von Thaden owner of “Audio Concepts” for the set up and use of his sound Equipment for these outdoor Masses.

The outdoor Masses are celebrated in the parking lot in front of the Faith Formation classrooms. These Masses will not require a reservation—we are not limited in numbers, please join us! You will be required to fill out a card when you arrive, with your contact information for contact tracing purposes, so please bring your own pen. For safety reasons, please bring your lawn chair, water, sunscreen and face coverings. (some chairs will be available if needed.) Saturday, 5:00 PM—LIVESTREAM ONLY Sunday, 8:00 AM and 7:30 PM—Parking Lot

Please contact the Parish Office if you have questions!

SS. Peter & Paul Security Ministry— In cooperation with the federal government, Sacramento diocese, and local law enforcement, our parish has set up a Security Committee. Our group works to address potential threats to SS. Peter & Paul. With the help of law enforcement, we evaluate vulnerabilities and plan safety measures. We’ve added equipment, procedures, and training for staff and volunteers. Please contact the Parish Office if you are interested in assisting this important ministry.

THANK YOU! Rocklin/Loomis Kids in Need Ministry thanks you for your on-going generosity! In spite of a worldwide pandemic and limited Mass schedule, you came through yet again with supplies and gift cards for the kids enrolled in the Rocklin and Loomis Unified School Districts. Though schools are doing distance learning this year, the kids involved in our program still need the basics to do their school work at home. These donations will be given to families that come to the district offices seeking assistance. Thanks to everyone for supporting these families and children so they can start the year with a positive attitude.

The supplies were dropped off at the district offices this past week and the gratitude of the district was beyond words. Peace and blessings to all of you for opening your heart and supporting our local kids in need.

ARE YOU SOMEONE OR DO YOU KNOW SOMEONE WHO IS…..

Thinking about becoming Catholic….. Do you have an interest in becoming Catholic or were you baptized as a child but have not received the Sacraments of Eucharist and Confirmation?

Our inquiry “Come and See” sessions are held on Monday evenings. For information about the process, please call Michelle Pfister at 916-624-5827, ext. 210.

Ushers Needed We are still in great need of Ushers for the outdoor Masses! If you are able to serve as an usher please contact Kathy Koester Kathy Koester at [email protected].
