Life of mars is set in Manchester which is a good set because it is a good place because it a build-up area that is perfect for a crime drama. The costumes they used in Life of mars was very realist and it made it seem like you were watching a 70s programme for example they have trouser that are flared and that had the big ties. Also they had cars that suited that time Sound – Key dialogue Sound effects Music In the life of mars they used music that was dramatic to make the scenes more intense and it makes more appealing to the audience. Also the director uses a lot of 70s music to make the episodes more appealing to a larger audience. Audiences – Who is the target audience? Male/Female How might they react differently? Will it shape their views of people, issues or events? For the life of mars I think that the target audience from a range of young adults, middle aged people and the elderly I think this because people would more and likely to watch programmes which are from their era. Also I think that life of mars is for both male and female because I think that the director didn’t want to be unfair and wanted both male and female viewer to watch. The characters were mainly male police officers because in the 70’s there went a lot of female police officers so this would differ from today police programme this makes it more interesting because we can see the different from the 70’s to today

For the life of mars they had sold a range of different marketing ideas such as the DVD box set also they would of done a website there they would sell all their merchandise and all these market ideas would make a large amount of profit for their series as people would like the idea of some merchandise from that era.
