Kansas State Park Passports
are annual vehicle permits
that will allow Kansans ac-
cess into any park through-
out the state. Passports will
make enjoying our state
parks more affordable and
much more convenient.
With a passport, families
can enjoy a year full of
adventure and outdoor
activities.
Kansans will be able to pur-
chase their passport during
their motor vehicle registra-
tion process. This will need
to be renewed every year
during this process. By
law, passports are non-
transferable to another
vehicle.
If you purchase your annual
park permit before you
register your vehicle, a
pro-rated refund may be
requested after you have

Meet the 2012-2013 team members!
Tuttle Creek State Park utilizes an
AmeriCorps Team. Members provide
essential service to the park in renovat-
ing current facilities and creating and
constructing new projects. Tuttle Creek
State Park is fortunate to be on the door
step of Kansas State University which
has Park and Resource Management
Programs and Fisheries/Wildlife Biol-
ogy Programs. The programs offer the
park a stable resource of potential team
members who are vested in the out-
doors and interested in future careers
within KDWPT. They gain valuable
experience for their resumes thru their
AmeriCorps involvement. For those
interested in more information on the
AmeriCorps program, visit the

WILDCAT MARINA is located
in the Cedar Ridge Area on
Tuttle Creek Reservoir.
With 81 slips, pontoon rentals, large
tanning and party deck,
WILDCAT MARINA is the place
for fun during the summer. Their
website is
http://wildkatmarina.com/ and the
phone is 785-776-3113. Come on
and out and enjoy the fun!
they are of proper fit. They will also
check to see if there is a TYPE IV
THROW-ABLE on board. The life-
jackets will also need to be READ-
ILY ACCESSABLE and not stored
in a compartment! Also remember
anyone 12 YEARS OLD and
YOUNGER MUST wear a life
jacket at all times when on board a
boat. Officers will also ask to see if
there is a fire extinguisher on board
and that it is fully charged and ser-
viceable. Additionally a sound pro-
ducing device is required—whether it
be a horn or whistle. Type IV throw-
able, fire extinguisher and a sound
producing device are all required on
vessels 16 feet in length or longer.
Any person between the ages of 12
and 20 who wishes to operate a ves-
sel (PWC, power boat, sailboat)
Boating at Tuttle Creek Lake can be
a safe and enjoyable experience if all
the right preparations are made.
Kansas Natural Resource Officers do
vessel inspections at Tuttle Creek
Lake, and will be checking for all the
required safety equipment to make
your outing a safe one. Resource
Officers when doing a safety inspec-
tion will ask for the BOAT REGIS-
TRATION, and check the KA
NUMBERS on the vessel. They will
also ask how many people will be on
board and what the BOAT’S CA-
PACITY for the number of people
and or weight is. Next an officer will
ask to see LIFE JACKETS for eve-
rybody aboard the vessel and that
without direct supervision MUST
complete an approved boater educa-
tion course. Personal Water Craft (PWC) must
also comply with all boating laws,
registration procedures, operation and
equipment requirements in addition to
the regulations specific to PWC’s.
Every person onboard a PWC must
wear an approved life jacket, and each
person operating a PWC is equipped
with a lanyard engine cut-off shall
attach the lanyard to the operators’
person, clothing or life jacket. Also
PWC’s are not legal to operate be-
tween sunset and sunrise.
Following these simple safety rules
will help make your boating experi-
ence at Tuttle Creek Lake a much
safer and enjoyable outing.

Most of our state park regulations are not new, but warrant a re-
minder to all of our visitors as we begin looking forward to the
new park season. 24 HOUR VISITATION — is required for all
campsites in Kansas State Parks, with the exception of designated
Seasonal campsites, which means you must enter your camping
unit at least once during a 24 hour period.
GREY WATER DUMPING — all waste water from camping units
(GREY and BLACK tanks) must be disposed of at dump stations
only. SPEED LIMIT — there is a 25 mph speed limit throughout the
entire park. Speed should be reduced even further when entering
and driving the individual campground roads. Please take extra
care to watch for pedestrians! PETS — are allowed at Tuttle
Creek State Park, however must be kept on a 10-ft. or shorter
leash or chain AT ALL TIMES. Pets are not allowed in any of the
state park buildings, unless for assistance purposes. This includes
all shower and restroom facilities, office, and group shelters. This
also includes the state park camping cabins. Pets belonging to
cabin renters must be kept outside on a chain/leash, or in a kennel.
We do offer a Bark Park in the River Pond behind the beach
shower house.
With everyone abiding by park regulations, we can continue to
provide a safe and family-oriented park and enjoyable visits for
all!! Thank You!

Outdoor Recreation Management System:
Last spring, the Parks Division launched our Outdoor Recreation
Management System (ORMS). Though often called a “reservation sys-
tem,” ORMS is much more. It allows users to reserve campsites from the
comfort of their home computers or look online to see a photo of each
campsite and whether or not that site is rented. ORMS, in most cases,
saves our customers time and money.
Park staff can look within the system to see what sites are full and
who is on that site. This makes emergency notifications much faster.
Staff can mark sites that have issues as unavailable, such as off-line
breakers or broken hydrants, and put them back online as they are re-
paired. For the first time, we will have data at our fingertips that tells us
what sites are rented most often and which ones see little use, enabling us
to make management decisions about how many sites need upgrades or
which campgrounds need a change in use.
Reserve a campsite TODAY at www.reserveamerica.com!
