What constitutes a biowave?

The term «biowave» is intended to emphasize the fact that the procedure includes gentle,

hypoallergenic components. During the procedure, eyelashes are treated with a special solution, which gives

them an expressive bend.

The composition does not fall on the skin of the eyelids and mucous eyes. It is gently laid on the eyelashes

without affecting the roots. There is no loss or difficulty of growth of eyelashes after the procedure. After the

biowave the density and thickness of eyelashes will not change.

The effect after the procedure is generally visible up to 3 months while all eyelashes are going

through natural cycles of renewal. Then the procedure can be done again.

This tutorial is focused on the acquisition of biowave procedure BioLash Lift skills. Some nuances

and possible questions that may arise both from a master and a client are also explained.

Each master who deals with eyelashes must have a good idea of eyelash structure and eye itself. That’s

why we need to address to anatomy in this tutorial.

Eye Anatomy

The eye has a very complicated structure. Its outer casing is called sclera. Superior rectus

muscles provide eye movement and sclera plays a forming role.

The sixth part of the sclera is called cornea. It is clear and lets the sunlight pass that goes through it

into the eye.

There is the choroid under the sclera that contains blood vessels feeding the ocular structure. The frontal

part of the choroid has two structures: the iris that provides a certain eye color and the ciliary body that by

affixing to the crystalline lens with a help of superior rectus muscles provides its focusing on nearby or distant

objects, in other words - accommodation.

The inner causing – retina - is photosensitive. The retina contains specific pigment rhodopsin and its

function is to convert the light into electric impulses so that the man can see. Electric impulses travel into brain

through the optic nerve.

Inside the eyeball there are also two liquid substances. The biggest part is for jelly substance - vitreous

humor. The smallest part is filled with so called aqueous humor. Its outflow is provided through Schlemm's canal.

In case of aqueous humor outflow violation glaucoma is being developed for which the eye's anterior swollen

chamber is typical.

Eyelids provide the protective function. The internal surface of eyelids and sclera in outer casing of

the eyeball is paved with mucous membranes – conjunctiva.

Eyelash structure and lifecycle

The main eyelash function is to protect eyes from mechanical particles and dust. The scheme of eyelash

structure is below.

An eyelash consists of the rod and the root. The root ends with the hair follicle that is responsible for the

eyelash growth by cell division. The root and the hair follicle are like in a baggie. Eyelashes’ roots are at a depth

approx. 2 mm.

Eyelash rod consists of 3 cell layers:

The first one is the heart, hair foundation, which consists of protein, keratin and not keratinized cells.

The next layer is cortical. The eyelash density depends on it. Cortical layer is 90% of the whole eyelash.

The last outer layer is cuticle. Like a tile it covers the eyelash on the top and protects from outside

influences.

It consists of three phases:

1. Active growth phase – Anagen (lasts 30-45 days).

2. Transition phase or regression phase – Catagen (Catagen lasts approx 15 days and is

accompanied by reduction of the hair follicle).

3. Resting phase – Telogen (can last up to 100 days and ends with eyelash loss).

Unlike ordinary hair eyelashes have a very short Anagen phase (only 30-45 days). This explains their

short length in comparison with hair on the head. Approx 60-80% of eyelashes are in Anagen phase.

The procedure of the MAYAMY Biolash Lift biowave:

Before the procedure prepare your workplace. Make sure that all necessary tools are at hand on cosmetology

table.

The room temperature must be comfortable as the time of drying up of composition can decrease/increase

because of too high or too low temperature and can hamper the procedure.

The client must get comfortably settled in cosmetology couch and tentatively take off contact lenses or glasses if

they have them. Put one-time cap on the client’s head and put a pillow under their head. The upper part of the body

should be covered with a cape.

Before the biowave procedure it is also necessary to ask the client about possible illnesses and states in which the

procedure is contraindicated.

Among them: a sty, blepharitis, cysts, abrasions, burns and scars in close proximity to eyes, eye infections

(conjunctivitis), diseases and inflammation of skin around the eyes, hypersensitivity of eyes, after chemo state, alopecia,

keratitis, dry eye syndrome, the itchy eyes, folliculitis and pseudofolliculitis, eyelashes integration, Bell's palsy, glaucoma, the

eye nervous tic, after bad chemical wave state, increased eyelashes fracturing, recent ophthalmic operations.

During any procedure which includes contacting with human body it is necessary to compliance with the aseptic rules.

The master must tentatively clean hands with antiseptic solution. It can be gel, soap, liquid. It is also

recommended to pay attention that all reusable tools are sterilized before each procedure. Autoclaves are often used

for the sterilization.

Now it’s time to start the MAYAMY Biolash Lift procedure.

1) First, remove the client’s make-up with oil-free remover. In this way even the waterproof

make-up will be removed.

2) Now put the duct tape or collagen pads on the area under the eyes so lower lashes are covered with

duct tape or collagen pads. It is done to divide eyelashes and protect the skin of lower eyelids.

3) Then, when the client’s eyes are closed, start the degreasing of upper lashes with a degreaser (it is also

called Primer). Do it with a help of a one-time microbrush and then brush eyelashes with a one-time

brush with round moves.

4) Now it is time to put silicone pads. They can be in different sizes: S – small, M – medium, L – large. Try the

pads on to measure the required size depending on the length of the eyelashes. The shorter the

eyelashes, the smaller the size of pads. If the pad is too big, it is possible to use scissors for giving it the

right shape.

Then, tightly press the silicone pad against the eyelid closer to eyelashes root zone. It is better to

do it in direction from the inner corner of the eye to outer also slightly folding eyelid skin up towards

yourself (depending on the situation in order to avoid ungluing of the pad a little biowave glue can be

used).

5) When the silicon pad is fixed on the eyelid put a little biowave glue on its surface. To prevent the glue

from drying out the width of the covered with it area must be not more than 0,5 cm. After that glue

each eyelash ‘lash-by-lash’ to the pad using thin tweezers.

Make sure that none of the eyelashes is glued to another. Each eyelash must have the similar

direction and mustn’t cross with the others. Also pay attention to the position of eyelashes endings which

must lie evenly on the pads not being broken or crossing each other. When all eyelashes are glued

evenly to the pad the biowave procedure can be started.

6) So, apply the necessary amount of Composition #1(white bottle) with a help of

microbrush. It is important to apply it on eyelashes evenly. It is necessary to step back from the eyelashes

roots in 2 mm distance in order to protect the mucosa from the composition. There is also no need to

apply the composition to the eyelashes endings as they are too thin and can be easily damaged. In

outer and inner eye corners the eyelash curl mustn’t be too intense. That’s why the composition should

be applied to the narrow eyelashes area.

Attention: if the client suddenly starts complaining about unpleasant feelings in eyes, burning or

you notice excessive tearing, immediately remove all compositions. Then wash eyes with cotton wool

damped in distilled water. If discomfort doesn’t stop, the client must see a doctor.

7) The exposure time of Composition #1 is approx 10-15 minutes (time depends on the

eyelashes length and thickness: for thin eyelashes 10 minutes, for dense – 15 minutes). Before using

Composition #2 remove Composition #1 from the eyelashes and silicon pad with a dry cotton swab moving in direction from the roots to eyelashes endings.

8) Now with the help of microbrush apply Composition #2 (white bottle) to the eyelashes. It

is also applied evenly for 10-15 minutes (time depends on the eyelashes length and thickness: for thin

eyelashes 10 minutes, for dense – 15 minutes). It is important to note that Composition #2 is applied to

the same eyelashes zones as Composition #1.

9) Carefully remove Composition #2 from the eyelashes and pads with a dry cotton swab

moving in direction from the roots to eyelashes endings.

10) Next, apply Composition #3 (clear yellow bottle) with microbrush in direction from the

roots to the eyelashes endings. Then, lean the cotton swab tentatively soaked in Composition #3 to the eyelashes for their impregnation approx for 5 minutes.

11) To remove silicon pads and separate those from the eyelashes also use Composition #3.

Composition #3 softens the glue and helps to remove the pads easily. The pads are taken from the eyelid gently in direction from the inner corner to the outer or vice versa.

12) After the pads are removed wash the eyelid with a cleanser or Composition #3 till

particulates of glue is removed to the end.

13) Now the duct tape or collagen pads can be removed from lower eyelids areas. The

procedure is finished.

Important information:

1. After the use the biowave mustn’t be kept in a fridge. Keep in cool place. Do not keep in hot

places or close to open flames. Keep away from the direct sunlight and out of reach of children.

2. Do not use the same microbrush when working with Composition #1 and Composition #2. Use

different microbrushes for each composition. Bottle caps mustn’t be used to close bottles of other

compositions as it can reduce the efficiency of compositions.

3. After using Composition #1 and Composition #2 keep bottle lips and caps clean. Close bottles

tight. This helps to save the efficiency of compositions for future procedures.

4. If in eyes: rinse with distilled water. In the case of an allergic reaction (that is rare) consult a

doctor.

5. Eyelashes contact with hot water is allowed only on the second day after the procedure. This

awareness prevents from damaging the eyelashes biowave.

First day rules after the procedure and additional instructions for clients:

1. It is not advised to contact eyelashes with water in the first 2 hours after the procedure.

2. In the first 24 hours after the procedure the eyelashes contact with hot water or steam is

not allowed. It is also not advised to swim or exercise that can cause sweating in the first 24 hours.

For the maximum length of MAYAMY Biolash Lift effect:

1. It is recommended to avoid sleeping face-down.

2. Preferably not to rub eyes.
