The Superintendent recommended that the Board go into executive session for the purpose of

possible litigation. Mr. Presley made the motion to accept the recommendation and Mr. Barnett

seconded the motion. The motion was approved by a unanimous vote.

The Tuscaloosa County Board of Education met in a called meeting Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at

8:45 a.m. Mr. Gary Mims, President, called the meeting to order.

The minutes from April 11, 2016 meeting were approved. Mr. Barnett made the motion to

approve the minutes and Mr. Orr seconded the motion. The motion was approved by a

unanimous vote.

The Superintendent recommended that the Board approve the agenda as printed. Mr. Barnett

made the motion to accept recommendation and Mr. Orr seconded the motion. The motion was

Fridays from 1-3 p.m. beginning on June 3, 2016 and ending on July 29, 2016.

license using local school funds.

The Superintendent recommended that the Board approve the Human Resources Report as

presented. Mr. Presley made the motion to accept the recommendation and Mr. Orr seconded the

motion. The motion was approved by a unanimous vote.

The Superintendent recommended that as part of the Human Resources Report that the Board

approve the Administrative Actions as presented. Mr. Orr made the motion to accept the

recommendation and Mr. Barnett seconded the motion. The motion was approved by a

unanimous vote.

The Superintendent recommended as a part of the Human Resources Report to name Ms. Temeka

Shamery Rice, Principal for Englewood Elementary School, June 1, 2016 thru May 31, 2018.

Rev. Moore made the motion to accept the recommendation and Mr. Orr seconded the motion.

The motion was approved by a unanimous vote.

The Superintendent recommended as a part of the Human Resources Report to name Mr. Craig

Henson, Principal for Collins-Riverside Middle School, June 1, 2016 thru May 31, 2018. Mr.

Barnett made the motion to accept the recommendation and Rev. Moore seconded the motion.

The motion was approved by a unanimous vote.

ITEM IV. PRESENTATION FROM NURSING SERVICES

Ms. Felisa Washington, Lead Nurse, presented to the Board information pertaining to the nursing

services that are provided in each of the Tuscaloosa County School System Schools.

ITEM V. FINANCIAL REPORTS

Mr. Danny Higdon, Chief School Financial Officer, presented the financial report through April

30, 2016. The Superintendent recommended that the Board approve the financial report as

presented. Mr. Barnett made the motion to accept the recommendation and Mr. Presley seconded

the motion. The motion was approved by a unanimous vote.

ITEM VI. CONSENT ITEMS

The Superintendent recommended that the Board approve consent items A-ll as presented. Mr.

Copeland made the motion to accept the recommendation and Mr. Barnett seconded the motion.

The motion was approved by a unanimous vote.

ITEM VII. APPROVE LAWN CARE BIDS FOR THE TIME PERIOD OF AUGUST

1, 2016 THRU NOVEMBER 30, 2018

The Superintendent recommended that the Board approve the Lawn Care Bids and award the

bid to the lowest responsible bidder in each cluster. Cluster A – Northside – Harper Farms,

$1,900.00 Monthly, Cluster B – TCHS – Godwin Lands, $6,139.00 Monthly, Cluster C –

Hillcrest – Godwin Lands, $5,006.75 monthly, Cluster D – Holt – Godwin Lands, $3,521.00

Monthly, Cluster E – Brookwood – Crimson Maintenance, $6,000.00 Monthly, and Cluster F –

Sipsey – Godwin Lands, $2,058.06, Monthly. Mr. Barnett made the motion to accept the

recommendation and Mr. Presley seconded the motion. The motion was approved by a

unanimous vote.

ITEM VIII. APPROVE VIRTUAL LEARNING POLICY (4.88)

The Superintendent recommended that the Board approve Virtual Learning Center Policy (4.88)

as presented. Mr. Presley made the motion to accept the recommendation and Mr. Orr

seconded the motion. The motion was approved by a unanimous.

ITEM IX. APPROVE 2016-2017 SALARY SCHEDULE REVISIONS

The Superintendent recommended that the Board approve the 2016-2017 Salary Schedule

revisions as presented. Mr. Orr made the motion to accept the recommendation and Mr. Barnett

seconded the motion. The motion was approved by a unanimous vote.

The Superintendent and the Board reviewed data regarding enrollment changes. After a brief

discussion, there was no action taken on the enrollment changes.

ITEM XII. ANNOUNCEMENTS

1. End of the 2015-2016 school year is fast approaching. Today and tomorrow will be half

days with tomorrow, Thursday, May 26th as the last day for students. The last day for nine

month employees will be Friday, May 27th.

2. All schools and the central office will be closed for Memorial Day on Monday, May 30th.

3. All schools and the central office will operate on a normal, five day work week

throughout the summer.

4. The Education Summit, sponsored by the West Ala Chamber of Commerce, is scheduled

for Wednesday, June 8th at the Hotel Capstone. The event begins with a 7:30 a.m.

breakfast.

5. The June Board meetings are scheduled for:
