HUMBLE BEGINNINGSKnight and Hale Game Calls became a real-ity in 1971 when Harold Knight, a barber, and David Hale, a farmer, decided to start a small part-time business of producing turkey calls. The goal was to make enough spare money to buy an out-of-state license to hunt turkeys in Missouri. These humble beginnings 12 years later became a full-time business, manufactur-ing all species of game calls. In 1984 Knight and Hale became a full-time company employing five people and later as many as 23 full-time and 20 part-time. Through articles in countless magazines and newspapers, and television appearances, Knight and Hale became a household name in the sporting world as innovators of hunting products—especially game calls. In the course of 20 years Harold and David invented such items as the Ez-Grunt-er deer call, Fight-n-Purr turkey calls, Double-Cluck goose call, Ol’Yeller and Lonesome Hen turkey calls, and Shock Gobble owl call—all of which became homeruns. These products, coupled with a full line of game calls, put Knight and Hale in a full time business that most sportsmen only dream of. They quickly adopted the principles:1. You can’t out-give giving. 2. Give without expecting anything in return. 3. Treat others like you want to be treated. 4. Be humble, recognizing the customer is right. 5. Give God the glory for your success daily.

David’s Story: I always dreamed of being a farmer and owning my own farm. I would stop at a stump in my yard on many occasions to ask God to help me become a fulltime farmer, owning my own land. The more I prayed the less I saw my prayers being answered. I often wondered why God did not answer my prayers. As I grew as a Christian, I searched the Scriptures to find out if I had left something out. Boy, had I ever! Be careful what you pray for…you just might get it. We soon realized that God only answers prayers that are in His will. But to be in His will you have to forgive your fellow man before God will forgive you, and you have to be free from practicing sin. God didn’t say free from sin, but from practicing sin. Basically you have to know God’s will is found only in His Holy Word. I was asking for the things that were not in His will or His timetable. One of the hardest lessons for us to learn was God’s time table. Time does not exist with God. That is one of the many things that ex-cites us about Heaven, and that is conquering one of man’s greatest enemies—time. We are running out of it in this life daily. Whatever we pray for we have to be patient for the answer. God’s will and our will were not necessarily the same. Be careful for what you pray for…for God answers prayers

Harold Knight and David Hale sold their company in 1996 and are presently promoting hunting techniques and products through tele-vision and video. Their show, Ultimate Hunt-ing, is in its second decade. These guys spend most of their time with family, especially with their grandchildren, while sharing Jesus with those who are willing to listen. These two men have proven you can be a Christian and still be loved by friends and family, be a Christian and still be a hunter or fisherman, be a Chris-tian and still handle success, and most of all be a Christian and be saved. It is their prayer for each of you to do the same.

in His way and in His time schedule and the answer may come camouflaged in a form you might not recognize. Most of the time what we pray for becomes obsolete by the time we find God’s will for our lives. Our original prayer no longer fits our lives. I thought I wanted to be a dirt farmer, but ten years later God showed Harold and I a way to farm wildlife and make a living at it. God answered our prayers about farming in such a way that we failed for a while to recognize His plans for us farming. It was far better than what we originally wanted. Through God’s miracles, Harold and I managed to buy 2,300 acres over a period of ten years, and we are now stewards of the land, of trees and wildlife.

TRAGEDY INTO TRIUMPHAs I go through this life I don’t have all the answers, but I know God’s Word does. In life, not all is a bed of roses. The loss of seven young boys while on break from Knight and Hale Game Calls was a bitter pill for Harold and I to swallow. In the prime of their teen-age years, God called all seven home in a car wreck ½ mile from work. One second they were enjoying the time of their life…and the next second… “eternity.” Events like this make the urgency for salvation so much more criti-cal. Our time here is precious. Whatever we are going to do for God we need to do it now. Two of Harold’s and my best friends,

co-workers and call-tuners were Jerry Turner and Jeff Pryor. Jerry died of cancer at the age of 49, and Jeff died of cancer at the age of 42. Both were working for us at the time. Why did God take them home and leave Harold and me here? Only God knows. One thing I know for sure. Our lives were richer because of their lives, and because of their deaths our time here became more precious. As a farmer I realized that a seed has to die and be buried in the ground before a beau-tiful flower can bloom out of the earth. So life according to the Bible is the same. We have to die before God will raise us up in a glorified body like His, thus death becomes the ultimate victory. Thank You, Jesus, for saving my soul.

WE ARE WITHOUT EXCUSEAs we become older, the importance of hunting and fishing is not found in what we catch or kill, the importance becomes how we recog-nize God’s creation and who we share that with. Romans 1:20 basically says that we who

partake in His creation are without excuse for not knowing Him. Way back in time, nature was God’s first missionary. Before there was a Bible there were the stars and the moon. Before there were missionaries there was the changing of colors of leaves. Where there were no ministers there were the animals. Before there were civilized people there was an evening sunset. If all a person had was nature, then that was enough to know there is a Cre-ator. Therefore the Bible says we are without excuse for not knowing Him.

I SEE THE LIGHTThe Bible says that Jesus is the light. It is the light that will displace darkness. I never did like darkness. Except for sleeping, I always thought dark-ness was depressing. If Jesus is the light then Jesus is for me because I like the light. In a world of darkness,

Jesus is the only light that will amount to a hill of beans. It is in knowing Him that we can displace some of the darkness. It is our duty to turn on the light—Jesus—that others

might see the way. Jesus is free for the asking, but understand you will never be the same again—praise God—if you ask Him to save you. Jesus is the best eternal life insurance that you can take out, and He’s free for the asking. Are you like me? Are you tired of the dark? Then turn on the light—Jesus.

CROSSING THE FINISH LINERomans 10:9 says: “If you will confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Verse 13 agrees: “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” If Christ is not real, then we all lose noth-ing. If Christ is real, then those who do not accept Him spend eternity in hell. Can you afford not to believe? Bow your head and say this short but mighty prayer:

Lord Jesus, I confess that I am a sinner and need saving. I believe You shed Your blood upon a cross to cover my sins. I believe You died and were raised on the third day from the grave and ascended into Heaven. Thank You for that plan of salvation which I accept. Thank You, Lord, for saving my soul. Amen.
