It is bordered by eight countries: Bulgaria to the northwest, Greece to the west, Georgia to the northeast, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Iran to the east, and Iraq and Syria to the southeast. The capital of Turkey is Ankara, but the most populated is Istanbul

Imports into Turkey come from the following key markets: the EU, Russia, China, USA, Iran and South Korea.

EU exports to Turkey are dominated by machinery and transport material, chemical products and manufactured goods.
