Tullibigeal Central School Newsletter
Wet Weather I hope everyone is keeping dry and out of this wet weather! Just a reminder to stay away from roads that are covered in water and don’t enter unless you know it is safe to do so. Mr Garvey leave Unfortunately Mr Garvey has had to take leave until early September. He wanted to wish everyone all the best and he has made this decision for health and family reasons. I will step into the role of Relieving Principal until early September. We are currently working on changes to classes and will let you all know the changes in next week’s newsletter for next term. Learning Planning Meetings Our Learning Planning Meetings have begun with many of our primary students very excited to be showing the hard work they have been completing in class this semester. These are a great way for teachers, parents and students to discuss their child’s aim for the next semester. Merit Awards Due to $10.00 Itunes vouchers not being available, students are now able to save 20 merit awards and receive either a $20 Itunes voucher or a $20.00 book club voucher. Students are to hand in their merit awards to the front office and will receive their vouchers at the next assembly. We are currently working on new merit awards which will
be handed out from next term. Keep an eye out for the new PBL merit awards. STEM Showcase Mr Small and Miss Goldthorpe will be heading to Sydney on Wednesday with staff across the LAP program to investigate the STEM Project which includes an interdisciplinary approach to teaching Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. It will be interesting to see what Mr Small and Miss Goldthorpe learn. Variety Bash Visit Last Friday we had two gentlemen visit the school organising a rally car race for next year. They have asked if we would like to host lunch for approximately 80 cars with between 250-300 people.

Congratulations to Miranda who participated at the Western Region Cross Country last week in Guerie. Miranda completed the course and should be proud or her efforts.
Reports were sent home on Friday and by all accounts most students should be proud of their efforts in Semester 1. There will be some changes to staff over the next few weeks and we hope we will be able to let you know these changes early next week for next term. Students are reminded to make sure they have their names on their jumpers as there seems to be too many jumpers left at school without names. Please make sure you label all your child’s equipment so it can be returned to them. This week will be the last week for homework for Term 2. If your child has completed homework and has not handed it in they can still do so with their classroom teacher.

Learning Planning Meetings Our learning planning meetings are well underway at the moment, with specific student learning goals being developed in collaboration with teachers, parents and students. Particularly year 10 and year 8 students this is a great opportunity to think about your subject selections for next year and develop a learning path to achieve in these electives. I look forward to conversing with more parents about their child’s learning directions in the coming days.
End of Term Looming There is not long to go now til end of term, making it a great time to finish off all outstanding assessment work and start fresh next term.

Phones in school This is a reminder to all students about the schools phone policy. Whilst a student may have a phone at school and can use this during recess and lunch, they cannot be using their phone in class time unless directed by the teacher to do so. This will be for a specific purpose, i.e. taking a photo of their project, and is not a time to be checking or replying to messages. Students are also reminded they cannot film or record another student. If parents need to contact their child for any reason they need to ring the school and they will be put through to their child. School Merit System There has been a slight change in the school merit system as $10 iTunes vouchers are no longer available. Students will now be acknowledged when they have received 20 merit certificates with a $20 iTunes voucher or voucher of a similar value. Starting next term there will be an addition of PBL merits in our three PBL values, so watch this space.
