Teollinen vallankumous 1-3
• Teollinen vallankumous
- Laaja yhteiskunnallinen, taloudellinen ja teknologinen muutos 1700- ja 1800-
lukujen taitteen Britanniassa
- Taloushistoriassa teollinen vallankumous tarkoittaa suurta mullistusta
teollisissa tuotantomenetelmissä.
- Liittyy uuteen energian tuotantomenetelmään, höyrykoneeseen,
ja tekstiiliteollisuuden syntymiseen Britanniassa ja Englannin
kanaalin ympäristössä.
• Toinen teollinen vallankumouksen
- Uusia keksintöjä olivat sähkö- ja polttomoottorit.
- Nosti Saksan ja Yhdysvallat johtaviksi teollisuusmaiksi ja laajensi 1800-luvun
lopulta alkaen teollista toimintaa koko Euroopassa.
• Kolmas teollinen vallankumous
- Alkoi 1900-luvun lopulla
- Laajensi teollista toimintaa Kiinaan ja Tyynenmeren ympäristöön elektronisilla
keksinnöillä, kuten mikropiireillä.

Markkinoiden monimuotoistuminen
• Autoteollisuuden toimintakentän monimuotoistuminen vahvistuu
- Monimuotoistuminen on yksi merkittävimmistä muutostekijöistä: se liittyy
automallien määriin, derivaattoihin, yhteistyöverkostoihin ja lyheneviin
tuotekehityssykleihin.

Digitaalisuuden vaikutukset VA:n kilpailukykyyn
Tavoite: nopeuden, osaamisen ja kustannustehokkuuden yhdistäminen
• A-sarja-tuote ja sen valmistustyökalut oli
suunniteltu digitaalisesti ja 3D-perusteita voitiin
hyödyntää suoraan prosessimme suunnittelussa
ja kehittämisessä
Säästi tarvittavia asiantuntijaresursseja, työmäärää ja
aikaa
Muita suoria hyötyjä:
• Daimlerin prosessin ja työkalujen perustiedot
helpottivat ja nopeuttivat suunnittelua, vaikka
prosessimme ja valmistusvolyymimme poikkeavat
paljon Daimlerista
• Sähköinen tiedostojensiirto ”reaaliajassa” eri
osapuolten välillä, nopealla palautteella
• Palvelutoimittajien hyödyntäminen ja ”pidennetty
vuorokausi” (Suomi-EU-Intia)

Does Deutschland do digital? -The Economist 21.11.2015 http://www.economist.com/news/business/21678774-europes-biggest-economy-rightly-worried-digitisation-threat-its-industrial
• Europe’s biggest economy is rightly worried that digitalisation is a threat to its industrial leadership.
• Internet of things is becoming a reality on factory floors: industrial machines and the products they
make are increasingly packed with sensors and connected to the internet. As a result, the rules in the
car industry are changing: making things matters less and knowing things more.
• The successful companies will no longer be the ones that make the best products, but the ones that
gather the best data and combine them to offer the best digital services.
• The biggest winners of all may be those that control a “platform” that combines different kinds of
devices, data and services, on top of which other firms can build their own offerings.
• The challenge is to use the data generated by connected devices and other information to offer
clever services, and make money with new business models.
• Carmakers should be thinking about how to provide, and profit from, the entertainment and e-
commerce services that could be offered on the screens inside a vehicle.
• Some fear that its carmakers could be demoted to low-margin metal-bashers, while American tech
giants make most of the money by providing the software and the in-car entertainment—and perhaps, in
time, designing the cars themselves.
• Carmakers are realising that to give up this territory would risk their “sovereignty over the data”
generated by their vehicles.
• Big IT companies have grown up managing “ecosystems”, which will not come easy to manufacturers.

Daimler/Mercedes-Benz Transition -press release 14.9.2015 http://media.daimler.com/dcmedia/0-921-1845911-1-1847484-1-0-0-0-0-1-12759-614216-0-0-0-0-0-0-0.html?TS=1445843496374
• The automotive industry is changing fundamentally, things are speeding up. Alongside “globalisation”,
another megatrend is “digitalisation” – also known in an economic context as “Industry 4.0”.
• Mercedes-Benz is a pioneer in this development.
• Technical innovations like driveline electrification and autonomous driving, in particular, would be
unthinkable without the digital transformation.
• “This digital transformation is in full swing at Mercedes-Benz. We are transitioning from car
manufacturer to networked mobility provider, whereby the focus is always on the individual – as
customer and employee. This is how we will continue to develop the company and thereby ensure our
future competitiveness.” says Dr. Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler
AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars.
• Digital prototyping accelerates the development of new generations of cars – but more than that, it
also raises their quality and offers opportunities for increased diversity.
• “The more diversity we have in the market, the more flexibility we need in production. The key here,
too, is digitalisation. Plants will become smart factories, where equipment and components are
seamlessly networked. And what’s even more important – people and robots will work
harmoniously together in the smart factory of the future.”
• Combining the cognitive superiority and flexibility of human beings with the power and
reliability of robots not only increases quality, but also leads to significant improvements in
productivity.
• This efficiency will also carry through to suppliers; networking with other companies enables faster
and more efficient processes within those companies and raises the quality of cooperation in general.

- Sensors, RFID tags Parts and devices exchange information and act like

- Information sharing where also human beings are involved

The Smart Factory M-B is following five major objectives with the smart factory:
• Greater flexibility
- The smart factory allows production to respond even faster to global market fluctuations and changing, even
more individual customer demand. Digital production also makes it easier to produce increasingly complex
products.
• Greater efficiency
- Efficient use of resources such as energy, buildings or material stocks is a decisive competitive factor; a
completely digital process chain also means constant inventory control: components can be identified at any
time and anywhere. Production facilities can be controlled from anywhere.
• Greater speed
- Flexible production processes, simplified modification of existing production facilities and the installation of
new facilities allow simpler, more efficient manufacturing processes. This in turn allows shorter innovation
cycles, and product innovations can be transferred to more model series in a shorter time (time-to-market).
• Attractive working environment
- Active interaction between man and machine, also using new operating interfaces, will change the working
environment in many areas, e.g. in training and ergonomics. Taking demographic changes into account, this
opens up new perspectives when creating new working and lifestyle models.
• Smart logistics
- From vehicle configuration and ordering by the customer to the definition of required parts and their
procurement, and then to production and delivery. To put this in visionary terms: "Once ordered, a vehicle
looks for its production location and machine by itself."

Ihminen, robotti vai jotain siltä väliltä? Johtopäätös
• Jatkossa vaaditaan entistä parempaa ketteryyttä
- Markkinat monimuodostuvat, uudella sukupolvella on uudet tarpeet ja muutosten
sykli nopeutuu
• Tämä tuo uutta osaamistarvetta ja työtä
- Uusi teknologia tehostaa yrityksen, tehtaiden, prosessit, materiaalien
“verkostumista”
- Robottien osalta kehitys kohdistuu ihmisen ja robotin yhteistoimintaan
fokuksena raskaat, yksitoikkoiset, ergonomisesti huonot, nopeutta ja tarkkuutta
vaativat kohteet.
