CONCRETE DETAIL WITH QUOTES Never simply drop a quote into a paragraph:

“The man is guilty due to the fact that the police found the knife in his car” (Johnson).

USE TRANSITIONS! WRITE THESE IN YOUR OUTLINE. Person you are quoting name + Verb

IN TEXT CITATIONS In-Text Citations tell the reader where you got

the information. It gives the author credit!

Example commentary: There is no other reason that man should

have had a knife in his car. If he did have a reason about why the knife

was in his car, he should have explained it to the jury.
