The first 6 place getters in each age group will compete at the District Cross Country Carnival in term 2 at Potato Point on Friday 10

th May

2019. This is definitely the last time Milton will be running in the Eurobodalla District as all South Coast districts will be changed next year. All classes have been training this term in preparation for the event. Thank you Mr Barby for helping with the preparation of the track.

Annual P&C Easter Egg Raffle It is that time of year when the P&C are asking families to donate Easter eggs, soft toys or other Easter egg products to be collected and wrapped ready for our massive Easter Egg Raffle. Donations may be brought to the school office at any time. Last year there was just over 100 fantastic prizes. The Easter Raffle commences at 9:30am on Friday 12

Extra tickets are available at the school office! Thank you so much for your ongoing support. The children really do love this event and the K-2 children thoroughly enjoy the Easter Hat Parade.

Boys Football On Monday 1

st April Milton Public School’s boys’ football

team took on Ulladulla Public School on a rain soaked Lighthouse oval in the PSSA knockout competition. Ulladulla was off to a quick start with two goals in the first five minutes and then a third goal against the run of play late in the first half. Despite the deficit, Milton fought back gallantly and clawed their way back into the game thanks to a well-taken penalty from Harry. The team kept Ulladulla scoreless in the second half and had their chances but in the end were beaten 3-1 in a tough competitive match. Some excellent saves from goalkeeper William kept us in the game and Harry and Lewis lead by example. All of the team displayed excellent sportsmanship, tried hard and represented MPS very well. Thanks to all the parents who supported the team on the day.

War on Waste: WOW! Our wonderful, wonderful "Warriors" this week are: Staffroom: Daisy, Piper, Matilda, Lena and Lara. Compost: Alice, Evie, Belle, Matilda and Ella. Return and Earn: Ever, Vanessa, Alice, Matilda and Cassie. Soft Plastic: Charlie, Eden, Bo, Alexis, Brooklyn and Willow. A huge thanks to Milly and Kiara who just stepped in yesterday to help. We are so incredibly proud of all our "Warriors" and their commitment to the environment.

Lucy - Semi-finalist We are very pleased to announce that two of the Moran Contemporary Photographic workshop student participants from 2018, Lucy in 6R and Ella who is now in High School, were named semi-finalist in this year's student prize section of the Moran Contemporary Photographic Prize. Well done girls!

Girls Football The MPS Girls' Football team lost a tough contest, 1-0, to cross town rivals Ulladulla Public School yesterday. The Milton team was excited and ready to play when they hit the park at Lighthouse Oval. A number of the girls had never played soccer before but after a few minutes of play they were like seasoned professionals. Strikers Annabelle and Aliyah had a number of shots at goal and were only missing by mere millimetres. They used their sensational speed to their advantage and worked together brilliantly. The MPS midfield controlled the play beautifully with newcomers Evie and Zara taking to the sport like naturals. Brianna, Emily and co-captain Saige were exceptionally strong in both defence and attack in the midfield. Charlotte proved she is a talented athlete and put in an stellar performance for her first ever game of soccer. Our defence was rock solid as co-captain Sophie marshalled her troops from the back. Jessica and Nakiah were excellent in their first ever game of soccer. Frida put in an awesome effort as did Claire and Elloise. Claire and Elle shared the role of goal keeper and both girls impressed with their skill and dedication. It was a close and hard fought game. All of the girls should be extremely proud of their efforts. Coach, Mrs Whitmore, was beyond happy and impressed with the way the girls played and the spirit in which they played.

Milton Science Club Parent Meeting A presentation for Science Club parents will be held this Wednesday 3rd April at Milton Public School in room 19—opposite the main office 4.30-5.15pm. If you’re unable to attend could you please text Kellie Harding on 0428834002 and we’ll organise an information pack.

Eurobodalla Rugby League Last week 6 of our students travelled to Batemans Bay to trial for the U11s and Open Eurobodalla Rugby League teams. The trials involved playing in multiple matches with students from other schools. Our students played hard and represented our school with great sportsmanship. Lane, Sonny, Koby, Riley, Jye and Jacob all gave it their best, with Koby, Riley, Jye and Sonny being selected to represent the Eurobodalla on the 3

rd of May.

A special thanks goes out to Matt Williams who was a crucial help in the organisation of getting our boys to the trials. He regularly gives a lot of his time to our school and in particular to our rugby league students, and his help very much appreciated.

Did You Know? Almost 3 in every 100 children have a peanut allergy. Even trace amounts of peanut or tree nuts can trigger an allergy and kill a child. Anaphylaxis is a serious allergic reaction that can cause itchy rash, throat or tongue swelling, shortness of breath, vomiting, light-headedness, low blood pressure and cardiac arrest. Tragically, Australian children have died at school from nut allergies. There are several children at Milton Public School who have a life-threatening nut allergy. Our school strongly encourages you to help minimise harm to those students by not sending nuts or nut products to school. Your assistance and understanding is very much appreciated.
