NORTH WAGGA PUBLIC SCHOOL WEEKLY NEWSLETTER Hampden Avenue, Wagga Wagga PO Box 40, Wagga Wagga NSW 2650 Ph: 6921 3533 Fax: 6921 3459 Email: [email protected] North Wagga Public School P & C Association meet 2nd Monday of each month at 6.30pm in the Library Tuesday, 24 th March, 2015 From The Principal’s Desk Dear Parents and Caregivers I am filling in for Mr Griffith until the end of the term while he takes some well-earned leave. With less than 2 more weeks to go, we are very quickly approaching the end of the term and what a very busy time there is ahead! Tomorrow is our school’s Rewards Afternoon. Students who have not been in Time Out or who have had less than 3 Time Out sessions this term will be eligible to attend. The teachers are organising an exciting array of activities for students to enjoy. Our Student Representative Council students are also organising a fund raising mufti day TOMORROW to raise money for the Cyclone Appeal in Vanuatu. Further information can be found in the newsletter. This Friday our school’s annual Athletics Carnival will be held at Jubilee Park. Please come down to Jubilee Park on Friday to cheer on the students and enjoy a lovely autumn day outdoors. Mr Motton has, as always, meticulously planned the day and further information about events and times can be found in the newsletter. Mr Galloway has arranged for a coffee van (serving “real” coffee!) to be in attendance on the day! This Saturday 28 th March is the State Election. The Polling Booths at North Wagga are open from 8am. When you have cast your vote, don’t forget to check out the P&C Cake Stall, and buy a ticket in the raffle where you could win a $750 voucher from Anaconda, a $250 fuel voucher or half a tonne of firewood and kindling. Next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Mrs Standley, Mrs Quilliam and I will be attending training for How2Learn and we will in turn be training the staff. How2Learn is an exciting strategy focused on building students’ capacity to learn by explicitly teaching dispositions and habits within existing programs and practises. We are very excited about becoming a How2Learn school, and when we commence the program next term we will be sharing a lot more information with parents and carers about how we can all work together to support each and every student in our school to be resilient and resourceful lifelong learners! Finally, just a reminder that teachers do not start duty until 8:45am, so please, if possible ensure your child does not arrive at school until after 8:45am. We understand that some buses arrive early and students who arrive at school prior to this time are required to remain seated under the COLA until the bell rings. Thank you for your assistance in this matter. Have a wonderful week! Your donation will help support UNICEF's emergency response to the Cyclone Pam Crisis. Please make sure children wear appropriate shoes and tops on the day. Thank you.

MOTHER’S DAY STALL Friday 8th May

This year we will be holding a Mother’s Day stall on Friday 8th May with Kindergarten through to Year 6 to be involved. Students need to donate a gift of $3 in value and can purchase something on the day for $2.00 per gift. If a student wishes to buy more gifts for $2 each they have to donate that many gifts, e.g. if they wish to buy two gifts they have to donate two gifts. All gifts are to be given to the class teacher so that the gifts donated can be recorded. Please support this fundraising activity. Not only will the students love the opportunity of choosing their own gift for mum, all the money raised is used to improve our school for the students. Anyone who can volunteer in the morning and help with the stall, please contact the school. Any help will be gratefully appreciated. Some examples of gifts: Packet of handkerchiefs, soaps, bath salts, hand cream, chocolates, lollies, coffee mugs, tea cups, flavoured teas, scented candles, make-up bags etc. Trudy Standley Coordinator
