Join an exciting and interactive day full of like minded immigration professionals to discuss some of the challenges facing our industry. We’ll be thinking about immigration changes on a macro level, as influenced by external factors, from economics to politics or even natural disasters. We’ll also look at good immigration planning for internal changes such as corporate expansion to new markets or via M&A. Session 1 Change in the EU - New EU Directives; the Post-Brexit Landscape. Moderator: Irene Boccardo Speakers: Fiona Mougenot (France), Dominique Coenen (Netherlands), Ana Garicano (Spain), Klaus Kremers (Germany) What are the difficulties faced by companies to plan multiple assignments using the ICT Directive? This panel looks at how, or if, the ICT Directive can be used to achieve greater intra-EU mobility, taking into consideration the fact that each country has implemented separate eligibility requirements and supplementary declarations. Session 2 Expanding into New Markets Through M&A or New Entity Set Up. Speakers: Andreas Krensel (Africa), Brian Kelly (Ireland), Preeti Roongta (India) Marie O’Neill (Middle East) How do governments attract investment by offering facilitated schemes to companies looking to establish in their countries, and how can you help your clients plan in advance? This panel looks at immigration opportunities and risks associated with expanding into new markets. Session 3 The Impact of Economic Nationalism Upon Immigration Policies and Procedures. Speakers: John Nahajzer (USA), Francis Docherty (Switzerland), Marc Smith (UK) This discussion will focus on how governments are implementing nationalistic policies/procedures into the immigration system without formally changing regulations or amending statutes. For example, the U.S. as the Trump administration is imposing “extreme vetting” procedures into all areas of immigration, including business immigration.
