Easter Flowers The church was transformed for the holy celebration of the Resurrection thanks to those who helped with the dec-orating and those who contributed to the Flower Fund. The live lilies, hydrangeas, hyacinths and azaleas added beauty and a wonderful scent. We plan on placing them in Mary’s garden after the Easter season.

This month, Thursday, April 19th, from 5:00-7:00 pm we will be going to the North Shore to clean the gardens at the facility (weather permitting), inspiring the girls on decorating small pots and garden rocks, and helping to plant herbs for the building cook, Ms. Robin, and herbs for the girls to take home. neighbors, The Mission Ministry is starting a new project this summer with Hill Top United Methodist Church in Allentown, in conjunction with the Pittsburgh Communi-ty Food Bank. Our parish will participate with the com-munity Summer Feed Program that provides a meal to children between the ages of 4-18. Volunteers are need-ed to serve food, and monitor crafts and games. We are in need of 20 volunteers to commit to one evening a week from June to August. If you would like to be a vol-unteer to foster a healthy body, spirit and mind of the youth in our local community contact Donna Zelt ([email protected]) to help.

"Music Notes" with Amanda: Paschal Joy through Music

Easter music follows very similar themes: the resurrection, Christ as the Bread of Life, the Paschal Lamb...the list goes on. In today's Gospel we heard Christ remind his disciples not to be frightened of him! He even eats a piece of fish to remind his disciples of his mortality (Luke 25:40-43) In our music this weekend we focus on these Easter themes: "At the Lamb's High Feast we Sing" speaks of the salvation won for us, thanks to his death and resurrection. Our communion hymns ("Eat This Bread" and "I Receive the Living God") use quotes of what Jesus is to us: salva-tion ("Jesus says, I am the bread sent to you from God most high"; "eat this bread and drink this cup and Christ will raise you up on the last day"). The music for this weekend (and upcoming weekends during Easter) center around these themes, and personally, I love each song for this reason. Sometimes it can be tough to see the connec-tion between the weekend's music and the Scriptures, but I find it easier to see during Easter (and I hope you do too)!

The Brass Roots In Concert The Brass Roots, one of Pittsburgh’s most celebrated brass ensembles, is coming to perform at Saint Mary of the Mount Parish! The concert, taking place THIS weekend on Sunday April 15, will feature classical works by J.S. Bach and Claude Debussy as well as contemporary works from Imogen Heap and more. The concert will begin at 3:00 pm. Admission is free and all are welcome. This is an ex-ceptional opportunity to hear such an esteemed group at Saint Mary of the Mount, so please join us!
