KentNaz VBS a Great SuccessAbout 30 children participated in this year’s VBS program. At Sky VBS, kids discovered that by trusting God, everything is possible. The Thrill! The Joy! The Freedom! The sky is the limit.The kids provided a musical program for the congregation on July 22. They also raised $395.50 for mosquito nets for needy families overseas.

Newsletter

Family Night Classes ReturnFamily Night is every Wednesday evening at KentNaz, except during the summer months. Beginning September 19, 2012, the following classes will be offered:

Living Free – To help identify where, why, and how we live in bondage to the enemy instead of experiencing God’s freedom and hope. Facilitator: IdaMae Abed.

English as a Second Language Ministry – To assist adults who want to improve their English. Emphasis will be on activities that happen in everyday life, using role models and smaller group activities. Facilitator: Marilyn Moon

Hearing God’s Voice – A class to help enrich prayer life, our communiction link with God. The class will discover a way of living never imagined as they begin to hear and respond to God’s voice in fresh new ways. Facilitator: Ken Eckert.

Fresh Beginnings – For those new to KentNaz who wish to discover just who we are, what we believe, and why Jesus has called us to bring His love, truth, and healing to everyone we can. Facilitators: Pastor Ev and Pastor John.

Intertestamental Period – Between the Old and New Testaments was a 400-year time span that seemed void of God’s voice and the workings of His hand. On the contrary, it was a time of wondrous preparation for the coming of Messiah. Come discover how God worked to set the stage perfectly and in the fullness of time sent His Son into the world. Facilitator: Sherrie Pantle.

In addition, Family Night includes dinner provided by Kathy LaBay and crew at a very resonable price: $3.00 per individual, $10.00 maximum per family. Dinner is served from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm. Classes begin at 6:30 pm.

Call to PrayerPray for our pastors, the Church Board, SDMI Council, and all Sunday school teachers and helpers. We need to seek God’s

direction, to develop and encourage good leaders with vision and commitment to God’s church and the spreading of the Gospel of Jesus Christ .

Bible QuizzingLinda Pasquale will be leading the kids in their Bible Quizzing this year in the Book of Acts. She expressed a need for some adults to help with object lessons to bring home the message of Acts for the kids.

Teacher FeatureGlenn Harmaning

In Glenn’s own words: “My wife, Linda, and I began teaching the Bridge class circa 2005. At that

time there was no one leading the college age kids, and they were meeting at a local coffee shop. It was then that we decided to take on a leadership role with this group of young believers. We've been doing it ever since. I think the thing that I enjoy most about the class is that generally college age kids are truly thinking deeply about their faith, or at least ready to think deeply about their faith. We are told in scripture that we are to "work out your own salvation" and to "study to show yourself approved", and "...to make your calling and election sure..."  I've found that these students are all at various stages in this search for their "own" faith, and I love journeying with them.  My goal is to lead them in becoming grounded in the faith that they might or may not have been brought up with and to begin to live their daily life with Christ as Lord. In turn, I want them to think missionally about the lost world around them and engage a culture that is increasingly more anti-Christian and anti-Biblical. I still teach this class for myself as much as for the students. God is continuing to conform me to the image of His Son in what we call sanctification. In that process He is leading me to grow specifically in areas of spiritual discipline and that of spiritual warfare. Much of the curriculum we use is geared toward growing in God's grace and living in the "whole armor of God" as a lifestyle not simply as something that we may know intellectually.God's word is infallible, inerrant and invaluable as we grow in Him, so we engage the Word continually as something to saturate our thoughts with, study, and follow as spiritual nourishment for our souls.  I see the Bridge class as just that - a bridge from

high school to wherever God leads these kids on their journey through their twenties and beyond. I see our role as a stepping stone where the Holy Spirit molds minds and hearts to a life-long commitment to Christ and service in the church regardless of where they are in life. My prayer is that each student with whom we engage is given a tools and a desire to pursue Holiness all their lives. Our class has three tag lines: "Things are not as they seem. We are at war! You have a role to play."   We want the students to seek to find their God-given role in life and fight a good fight as they live out what it means to make Salvation by grace alone, by faith alone, in Christ alone part of who they are.”

These young people are lucky to have Glenn and Linda as their mentors and facilitators toward a more robust Christian experience. Thank you Glenn and Linda for your dedication to the Bridge Class and the students who look up to you.
