Trumpet TRINITY BAPTIST CHURCH VOLUME 37 • ISSUE 1 JANUARY 2013 2013 W ell another year has come and gone. There have been many major events in 2012. Our nation re-elected President Obama. We had a major storm named Sandy that hit the Northeast that is still affecting thousands. We endured one of the most horrific events in the history of our nation with the school shooting in Sandy Hook, Connecticut, and we are wading through times of incredible economic uncertainty. And yet despite all that happened in 2012 we are hopeful that 2013 will be an especially great year. Why? Because God has placed us here together to accomplish a great task of which the victory is secure. For the last two years I have sought to get to know the members here at Trinity as well as our community. I am constantly thinking about how to best use the resources God has given us to be as effective as we can be for His Kingdom. On January 12th many of the key leaders (but certainly not all of them) will gather to discuss the overall strategy of our church. We will be talking about how to love, reach and grow fully devoted followers of Christ for the glory of God! We develop strategies as a church because without a plan, an organization rarely accomplishes anything extraordinary. In the same way that our church needs an overall strategy I also believe we as individuals and families need a spiritual growth strategy. There are a lot of things you can do to develop a spiritual strategy. One way to do this is to just think through our churches 7 devotions and evaluate ways you could grow in one or more of those areas. On Sundays we always pray that our church will have a love and passion for God. My hope is that in 2013 God will revive our souls and stir our spirits with a fresh new passion for Him. I hope that 2013 will be a significant time not only in your own spiritual journey but in the life of our church. To help with your spiritual walk we are providing several aids. One is a simple resolution chart that allows you to consider spiritual resolutions for the new year. Another is our reading through the Bible plan. Finally, in the days ahead on the web you’ll see a list of possible devotions that can be used individually or as a family. I look forward to seeing how God will use His strategy for our church and each of you in 2013.
