Four realities of a ‘true friend’ are…
1. Someone who helps you when you’re down
• How can you tell the difference between acquaintances and friends?
Proverbs 17.17 “A friend loves at all times…”
2. Someone who provides emotional/physical strength
• How am I going to make it through this right now?• There are two kinds of people
in the world, encouragers and discouragers
• Why not decide to be an encourager!
3. Someone who will fight to protect you or your reputation
• True friends never stab you in the back, they have your back
• Gossip is when someone says something negative towards someone who isn’t present
4. Someone who is committed to helping you spiritually Proverbs 27.27 “ As iron sharpens iron, a man sharpens his friend”
• True friends want to see us continue to grow
Proverbs 18.24 “…but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother”
John 15.13 “Greater love has no one that this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.”
