WorldCast Anglers is excited to offer Patagonia River Guides (PRG) and their diverse flyfishing options in Argentina. Our anglers have the opportunity to enjoy the three most productive regions of Patagonia Argentina – Esquel, Rio Pico and San Martin de los Andes. Every trip is customized according to the angler’s needs and desires, and trips as short as three days or as long as three weeks are easily executed. The PRG experience is a unique blend of inspiring waters, varied fishing, beautiful scenery, interesting culture, lasting friendships and unrivaled service. All of this complemented by gourmet and regional cuisine, delicious wines and first class accommodations.

There are few places in the world where you can enjoy the diversity and quality of fishing offered in Patagonia, but

careful planning and execution are critical to getting the most out of your trip. PRG’s philosophy is straightforward: fish the best rivers, at the best times, with the best guides. On any given day, PRG’s guests could find themselves wading small freestone streams or spring creeks, floating bigger rivers from comfortable rafts or drift boats, stalking fish and sight fishing in gin-clear water or even spending a day in search of fish over ten pounds on areas still waters. Fish size and numbers depend on the type of water and the angler’s skill level, PRG’s fisheries are the best of the best and won´t disappoint. Since they have so many options, extended stays are recommended in order to see and experience as much as possible in one, two, or all three of their distinct regions.

PRG is American owned and operated by Rance Rathie and Travis Smith. Rance and Travis are born and bred flyfishermen who have been guiding anglers in Montana since their teens. Their passion for fishing and guiding ultimately led them to Argentina where they saw a unique opportunity to apply their extensive knowledge and expertise to build the most comprehensive and professional flyfishing operation in Patagonia. For over ten years, they’ve cultivated a staff of Argentine employees, guides and managers that is unmatched in terms of experience, professionalism and passion.

As long-time professional guides, Rance and Travis understand that a good guide can often be the difference between an average trip and the trip of a lifetime, which

is why they take great care in maintaining the best guide staff in the region. Without exception, PRG’s guides are talented professionals, excellent and enthusiastic teachers, passionate fishermen and expert oarsmen. Apart from their extensive fishing skills, they also enjoy sharing their local knowledge of flora, fauna, culture and history.

PRG is extremely well equipped to handle the ultimate flyfishing adventure. They are not only outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment, tackle and gear, but also supply each guest with Simms waders and boots, Winston Rods, Hatch Reels and every fly at no additional charge. Their goal is to maximize the enjoyment, comfort and safety of their guests. If anglers don’t have what they need, PRG is fully prepared and pleased to provide it.

Join WorldCast Anglers for a trout fishing experience of a lifetime in the heart of the Patagonia Region of Argentina with Patagonia River Guides. Anglers and guests will be staying at Patagonia River Guide’s signature “PRG Lodge at Trevelin,” which offers unbeatable access to both the fabled water of Los Alerces National Park and the Esquel Area’s best rivers.

The Esquel region resembles the early years of flyfishing in the American West in many ways with less pressure and willing trout. The water in this area is as varied as the countryside offering dozens of rivers, lakes and spring creeks containing excellent size and numbers of trout. Most anglers land fish over 20-inches and it is not uncommon for fish to exceed 25-inches with the average fish being around 18-inches. About half of the area’s rivers can be floated, while the other half are ideal for walk-wade trips. Standard at PRG, guests will enjoy fishing a different river daily including choices like: Rio Grande, Arroyo Pescado, Corcovado, Nant Y Fall, Rivadavia, Corintos and Frey.

The food is incredible with gourmet picnic lunches and dinners that include Patagonia’s famous beef and lamb as well as fish and sea food, pasta, and organic vegetables grown in their own gardens. All meals are served daily and a different Malbec wine allowing guests to sample several throughout their stay. All this while experiencing some of the greatest trout fishing the world has to offer! WorldCast Anglers’ Hosted Trip Dates:Arrive Esquel Airport 5th -- Depart Esquel Airport April 12th. 7 nights / 6 days fishing at $5600 per person all-inclusive.

Lodging consists of complimentary single occupancy rooms for WorldCast Anglers’ guests. There are few lodges that offer such a luxury without an upgrade charge.

Guest are welcome and encouraged to add on days to other Patagonia River Guides destinations prior to or after the WorldCast Anglers’s hosted week at Trevelin. Options include three to five nights in the Rio Pico Region or in the San Martin de los Andes area at Patagonia River Guides North. Also worth noting, PRG’s cast & blast season opens April 1st and guests are welcome to hunt wild quail behind PRG’s pointers for a small gun rental, shell, and additional license fee.

The lodge consists of twelve spacious, tastefully appointed bedrooms, each with private ensuite baths and all the comforts one would expect in a five-star facility. The lodge has two full bars – one with a pool table and scotch bar complete with adjacent wine cellar and cigar humidor, and the second, which opens to a huge wrap-around deck – both perfect for sipping cocktails, sharing stories and gazing at the spectacular 360-degree views of five surrounding mountain ranges. The lodge also features two living/relaxing rooms and a central dining area with indoor parilla (barbeque grill) where gourmet meals and world famous Argentine asados (barbeques) are served by their professional kitchen staff. Patagonia River Guides has a great deal to offer in addition to world-class flyfishing. Non-fishing guests or those who simply want to take a day off from fishing, can enjoy relaxing around the lodge or choose from a variety of guided activities including: walking, hiking or biking in or around national parks; horseback riding on one of the area estancias; bird watching with an ornithologist; massage and holistic healing activities with professional therapist; whitewater rafting or scenic float trips; area cultural tours; shopping for local arts, crafts and gifts; visits across the border to Chile; and on-site cooking classes.

Non-fishers are just as important as the fishermen and a complete itinerary will be prepared with as few or as many activities as the non-fisher would like. Please contact us for a complete schedule and options for non-fishing programs.

In addition to their world-class flyfishing programs, PRG also offers some of the finest wild quail and red stag hunting in South America allowing guests the unique opportunity to combine flyfishing and hunting from thesamelodgestartingMarch15th.CastandBlasttrips can be arranged for as few as four days, but it is recommended to spend a full week to try three or four different and unique rivers and two to three days of quail hunting. Guests could easily fish a full week and never fish the same river twice and PRG has over 100,000 acres leased for quail hunting. For those guests’ wishing to fish, quail hunt, and stalk red stag, we recommend either a nine or ten night program to allow time to dedicate to all three species.

Guests should be physically fit and enjoy easy to moderate walking to hunt quail with guides and pointing dogs. Hunting wild quail the traditional way – with a dog and a gun -- is a fulfilling experience and there are few places one can still do that today. California Quail bob and weave from bush to bush and prefer to run; however, once pinned down by the dogs, they are quick to fly and very challenging for the average hunter. A good shot should expect between six and dozen quail per day and most shoot over a box of shells per outing. As with everything in fishing and hunting, some shoot a whole box and bag just a few quail so assigning a number per day is arbitrary. That’s hunting but trust us when we say the birds are not your kick-and-shoot pen raised birds, they are challenging and there are many.

PRG has six well-trained English and Elhew pointers and professional guides to handle the dogs and execute great hunts. One guide is provided for every two hunters and safetyisthehighestpriority!PRGprovidesBerettaUrika391 Automatic 20-gauge shotguns w/ interchangeable

chokes and shells for each guest for a small fee. Guests should pack field pants, high quality field-hunting boots, and game bag or vest (with hunters orange). Shooting glasses and gloves are optional. If you would prefer to bring your own gun, as many do, we can help you with the paperwork and getting your gun into Argentina. The process is straightforward and Argentina is hunter friendly. It is also possible to hunt Red Stag from PRG’s Lodge at Trevelin on a private 10,000-acre estancia fifteen minutes

from the lodge during March, April, and May. The rut is typically from March 15th to April 15th depending on weather and other factors. Red Stag hunting is easily combined along with all trout and quail programs. The stag average an impressive 198 points CIC (similar toa340SCIelk),andtrophyfeesstartatonly$3000for animals up to 200 points CIC. If you have wanted to hunt a red stag and don’t have the full week to dedicate to the program, this might be a wonderful opportunity to hunt a trophy. Archery hunts can be arranged for guests, but archery hunters should be experienced and rather self-sufficient. The private ranch provides a ranch guide for each hunter (extra charge of $150 per client per day), and PRG handles all logistics, food, beverage and lodging. Hunters will want to have hunting clothing (camo is preferred for stalking), hunting boots, and binoculars. The ranch will provide guns at $75 per day per person and those who want to bring their own should inquire for information on the process.
