*Hazards:

•Tropical Storm Warning in effect for Levy, Citrus, Hernando, Pasco, Pinellas, Hillsborough, Manatee and Sarasota Counties and the waters from Englewood to Suwannee River

•Coastal Flood Advisory in effect for Charlotte and Lee counties

•Isolated tornadoes possible

•Flood Watch remains in effect for Levy, Citrus, Hernando, Pasco, Pinellas, Hillsborough, Manatee, Sarasota, Sumter and Polk Counties through Wednesday morning.

IMPACTS

Coastal Flooding:

•From Sarasota to Pasco County: Combined storm surge and astronomical tide reaching 1-3 feet above ground level are expected. Check

• Significant flooding of low lying areas is possible during high tides.  Continued sporadic heavy rains will aggravate flooding of roads and yards.

IMPACTS

Inland Flooding:•Over 10 to 15 inches of rain have fallen since Sunday morning in portions of Hernando, Pasco and Pinellas counties.

•Additional rain through Friday morning:Nature Coast 3 to 5 inches 2 to 4 inches of rain is expected around Tampa Bay1 to 3 inches across southern areas.

•Expect localized flooding of small streams and urban areas where prolonged rain activity occurs. Rivers in Pasco, Pinellas, Hillsborough, and Manatee counties are near or above flood stage.  

Current rainfall totals could push rivers well into flood category for an extended period of time.

IMPACTS

Tornadoes:•Continued strong wind shear and convective showers will continue to present a chance for isolated tornadoes today.*Tropical Storm Force Winds Offshore:•Mariners should expect winds of 30 to 35 knots with gusts to 45 knots and seas  8 to 10 feet. •*•Inland Winds:

Expect gusty winds in rain bands of 35 to 50 MPH. The ground is wet so isolated shallow rooted trees could fall on power lines, streets or homes.

Roads/Bridges

•Two roads are known to still have water standing and are closed to traffic:

•Richardson Road closed due to stormwater pipe failure; traffic being detoured.

•North Beach Road closed from beach access to Columbus Avenue due to water and sand on roadway.

•North Casey Key Road was closed this morning due to large amounts of sand being deposited on the roadway. Crews opened it up at 12:03pm.

•United States Coast Guard closed bridges to marine traffic until further notice. Drawbridges will not be opened unless a vessel is in distress.

Stormwater Structures•Canals / Drainage overflow issues continue to be an issue. Numerous reports have been received from citizens and staff reporting structures to be overflowing or drainage being overwhelmed. Crews continue to clear structures.

•We continue to monitor river levels and Celery fields. Adjustments are made to the Celery Fields as needed.

Traffic Signs/Signals

•One traffic signal at Colonial Oaks & Cattlemen is without power due to a tree falling on the power line. Florida Power & Light on-scene at this time. The remaining signals throughout the County are functioning normally.

•Numerous traffic signs were blown down or disoriented. Crews are working to replace or straighten them.Trees Down/Vegetative Debris

•Downed trees are being moved off roadways; all roads are currently cleared.

Lift Stations•Six (6) without power

•Eleven (11) in high water

•Manually removing excessive stormwater and relocating to other collection systems

Damage Assessments

Shoreline•Conducted for Casey and Siesta Keys. Manasota Key assessment in progress.

•Moderate (5-10 ft) to severe (10-15 ft) dune/beach erosion throughout Casey Key due to the combined effects of high wave energy and high tide.

•Dune vegetation has been washed out.

•Structural damage to decks and dune walkovers has also been observed.

•Several inches to a foot height of water have been documented on Beach Road. 

•Most of the Siesta Key public beach was covered by sea water.

Park and Beach Sites

•Beaches in general have experienced a degree of erosion. 

•The road to North Jetty requires regrading.

•A few trees are down in Parks. 

•Vegetation clean up is needed in many areas.

•Some recycling receptacles/trash can holders have been damaged.

•A few signs are down.

•Docks are still under water and will be assessed once water has subsided.

RecommendationRequest the Board of County Commissioners declare a Local

State of Emergency in order to authorize the County Administrator to make formal requests

to the State of Florida for mutual aid, including but not limited to equipment, supplies, and personnel.

Authorize Sarasota County to apply for any federal or state financial assistance to assist in recovering from the

property damage, financial losses or bodily harm sustained as a result of the natural disaster Sarasota County has

experienced.
