THE APPLE OF DISCORD The origins of the Trojan War can be traced back to

Peleus and Thetis’ marriage Because Eris, Goddess of Discord, was not invited, she

threw a golden apple on a table at the wedding After Aphrodite, Hera, and Athena reached for the

apple, Paris was chosen to choose the most beautiful Paris chose Aphrodite, and consequently, he set sail

for Sparta to steal Helen

THE GREEK COALITION

Abhorred that Helen was abducted, Menelaus called upon the other Greek leaders to wage war with the Trojans

LOST

At first, the Greeks landed in the lands of Mysia

They had thought Helen had been abducted by the Teuthranians

They attacked the city…lost many men..

But…

THIS IS…THE BEGINNING OF A LONG AND POINTLESS FIGHT

Odysseus and Menelaus went to King Priam to demand Helen back

His answer?

War ensued for many years

Eventually, Hector, Achilles, and Patroclus were dead

TROJAN HORSE

Odysseus had a large, hollow wooden horse crafted

Most of the Greeks had left The Trojans victoriously brought the horse

into the city

LATER THAT NIGHT…

The Trojans were filthy stinking drunk in celebration of their “victory” and/or fast asleep

The Greeks left the horse, and slaughtered the Trojans

The moral of the story is that you can’t go sleeping with men from other kingdoms because your ex-husband will raise an army, start a 10 year war and destroy your city
