The message of the cross is foolish to

those who are headed for destruction!

But we who are being saved know it is

the very power of God. 1 Corinthians

1 :18

Page 8: Triumphant Foolishness

As the Scriptures say,

“I will destroy the wisdom of the wise

and discard the intelligence of the

intelligent.”

1 Corinthians

1 :19

Page 9: Triumphant Foolishness

So where does this leave the

philosophers, the scholars, and the

world’s brilliant debaters? God has made

the wisdom of this world look foolish.

1 Corinthians

1 :20

Since God in his wisdom saw to it that the

world would never know him through

human wisdom, he has used our foolish

preaching to save those who believe.

“God blesses you when

people mock you and

persecute you and lie about

you and say all sorts of evil

things against you because

you are my followers.

Matthew 5:11

Be happy about it! Be very

glad! For a great reward

awaits you in heaven. And

remember, the ancient

prophets were persecuted

in the same way.
