Dont Forget to Say Thank You!Luke tells a story that no other gospel writer picked up on. In Lukes gospel account, he tells a story of Jesus making his way up to Jerusalem. As he was passing through a village, ten men with leprosy called out to him from a distance. They were required to keep their distance. In Jesusday, if someone con- tracted leprosy, they had to quarantine themselves while announcing to anyone who came close to them, Unclean! So, from a distance, these lepers called out to Jesus for help. Would he see them? Would be hear them? Would he really care about them? Jesus looked at them, and said, Go show yourselves to the priests. In Levitical law, a priest has the au- thority to proclaim that someone is clean or unclean. If a priest renders someone clean, they could be restored back to community life. As these men left to go see the priests, Luke records that they were all instantly healed. All of these newly healed, restored men went on their wayexcept for one. One man, a Samaritan- an outsider, considered to be the scum of the earth by his neighboring Jews- came back to Jesus. He hadnt been to the priest yet. He hadnt yet fulfilled his religious obligations. But he was loudly praising God, found Jesus, fell at his feet, and thanked him. To that, Jesus said, Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? Has no one returned to give praise to God except this foreigner? Rise and go; your faith has made you well(Luke 17:11-19). But wait a minute! The man had already been healed of his leprosy. How could Jesus now say that his faith has made him well? Perhaps true wellness and healing go deeper than skin and flesh. Jesus healed his body, but this Samari- tan found an even deeper healing through his faith, worship, and thankfulness. The lesson here is simple and profound. Being thankful, expressed in our faith and our worship of God, is a powerful healer. Thankfulness heals our wounds of resentment. Thankfulness takes away the sick- ness of anxiety and worry. Thankfulness fills that constant hunger to always want more than what we already have. Thanking God through praise and worship makes us whole with peace, contentment, and joy. This Thanksgiving, I find myself most thankful to God for the wonderful relationships I have. I m thank- ful for my wife Blairlee and my three children. Im thankful for the wonderful friends and colleagues who are there for me. And Im very thankful for my Trinity church family. I am truly blessed with lots of love. I pray that we all have a blessed, fulfilling Thanksgiving season and day. Take an inventory of your blessings, and dont forget to go straight to Jesus, praising God loudly, thanking God, and falling at the feet of our Master. May we know the deep healing of thankfulness. Yours in Christs Service, Pastor Chris

“Don’t Forget to Say Thank You!”

Luke tells a story that no other gospel writer picked up on. In Luke’s gospel account, he tells a story of Jesus making his way up to Jerusalem. As he was passing through a village, ten men with leprosy called out to him from a distance. They were required to keep their distance. In Jesus’ day, if someone con-tracted leprosy, they had to quarantine themselves while announcing to anyone who came close to them, “Unclean!” So, from a distance, these lepers called out to Jesus for help. Would he see them? Would be hear them? Would he really care about them?

Jesus looked at them, and said, “Go show yourselves to the priests.” In Levitical law, a priest has the au-thority to proclaim that someone is clean or unclean. If a priest renders someone clean, they could be restored back to community life. As these men left to go see the priests, Luke records that they were all instantly healed.

All of these newly healed, restored men went on their way… except for one. One man, a Samaritan- an outsider, considered to be the scum of the earth by his neighboring Jews- came back to Jesus. He hadn’t been to the priest yet. He hadn’t yet fulfilled his religious obligations. But he was loudly praising God, found Jesus, fell at his feet, and thanked him.

To that, Jesus said, “Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? Has no one returned to give praise to God except this foreigner? …Rise and go; your faith has made you well” (Luke 17:11-19).

But wait a minute! The man had already been healed of his leprosy. How could Jesus now say that his faith has made him well?

Perhaps true wellness and healing go deeper than skin and flesh. Jesus healed his body, but this Samari-tan found an even deeper healing through his faith, worship, and thankfulness.

The lesson here is simple and profound. Being thankful, expressed in our faith and our worship of God, is a powerful healer. Thankfulness heals our wounds of resentment. Thankfulness takes away the sick-ness of anxiety and worry. Thankfulness fills that constant hunger to always want more than what we already have. Thanking God through praise and worship makes us whole with peace, contentment, and joy.

This Thanksgiving, I find myself most thankful to God for the wonderful relationships I have. I’m thank-ful for my wife Blairlee and my three children. I’m thankful for the wonderful friends and colleagues who are there for me. And I’m very thankful for my Trinity church family. I am truly blessed with lots of love.

I pray that we all have a blessed, fulfilling Thanksgiving season and day. Take an inventory of your blessings, and don’t forget to go straight to Jesus, praising God loudly, thanking God, and falling at the feet of our Master. May we know the deep healing of thankfulness.

Yours in Christ’s Service,

Pastor Chris

Guidelines for Submitting Bulletin Announcements and Bulletin Inserts

Make sure that events are booked on the church calendar before submitting the announcement. This helps to prevent date conflicts and ensures that all meetings and events are on our church calendar.

Submit your announcements (or changes to running announcements), in writing or by e-mail, to the Church Office no later than noon on Wednesday of each week. Accepting announcements via phone or in person may cause miscommunication of your information.

Limit your bulletin announcement to 2 lines maximum. The Church Office reserves the right to edit your announcement for length and content, if necessary. If you want more information shared about your event, it can be displayed in the display cases in the hallway outside the Church Of-fice.

Bulletin announcements will generally run for three weeks and should be published three weeks in advance of your event to ensure maximum exposure to the congregation.

Committee meeting announcements will be run the week before the scheduled meeting. Other in-formation that needs to be communicated before the meeting should be sent to Committee mem-bers directly.

All Bulletin inserts should be a half page. Bulletin inserts will run for three weeks, with one of those weeks being in color, if necessary.

Bulletin inserts will only be printed in-house if they are directly related to an event at Trinity.

We hope these guidelines will help plan advertising for scheduled meetings and events and help us to be good stewards of the times, talents and resources of Trinity UMC.
