Volunteers Needed

The Extreme Weather Emergency Overflow Shelter housed at the Sister Rose House will be in need of volunteers again this winter

season. Volunteers are needed to: assemble cots (4:00 – 5:00 pm); serve shelter guests and residents (5:00 – 7:00 pm); monitor bathrooms and sleeping hall, assisting staff (6:00 – 10:00 pm). All volunteers will, also, participate in an orientation and, if a new volunteer, will be paired with seasoned volunteers. Individuals and teams are always welcomed. Throughout the past years

a number of Trinity people have assisted with meals at the shelter. If you are interested in this opportunity to minister to the homeless, please talk with Pastor Paul and/or see the posts on the bulletin board in the church for more information.

Remembering the SaintsAll Saints Sunday

November 3On Sunday, November 3, we will celebrate All Saints Sunday. As in past years we will remember on this day members of Trinity who passed on to their eternal home since last All Saints Sunday. We, also, invite you to add names of family and friends who have died this past year. Please submit any names to the church office by October 31. Thank you.

“Family to Family” Gift GivingDepartment of Children and Families

Southeast Bay Areas

As we gave gifts in previous years, we invite the congregation to join Children and Family Services in sharing the joy of the upcoming holiday season by participating in the “Family to Family” Project. Throughout the years, thousands of children and adults have seen their holiday wishes come true because of the generosity of people like you. “Family to Family” matches sponsors with clients who are burdened with financial worries, illnesses, mental and physical disabilities, limited education and resources, and personal tragedies which have left them unable to provide for themselves or their families. As a congregation you are graciously sharing

in the Christmas spirit and giving the most vulnerable members of our community the greatest gift of all – HOPE. We will be given names of families around Thanksgiving and, at that time, will hang the names and gifts requests on an ‘angel tree’ in the greeting area of the church. When you take your angel we will provide any pertinent information to answer any questions you may have. Also, with all the angels gone and if you still wish to participate, gift cards to local grocery stores or restaurants (such as 99) are also appreciated. We thank all for taking part in this project of HOPE & LOVE!

You are reminded that wrapped gifts are due no later than Sunday, December 8. Also, please tag each gift with the name of the child and the gift given. Thank you!

Marie Mindle is our representative to this vital ministry to the community and invites you to be a part of this ministry. You may reach her at (508) 965-3311. Also, with the holidays approaching these items are, also, appreciated: stuffing mix, canned pumpkin, cranberry sauce, and some kind of dessert item (brownie, pie crust or pudding mixes). The Shepherd’s Pantry is open to all people in need. The hours of operation are every Saturday from 9:00 am to 11:00 am.

SPAGHETTI DINNER FUNDRAISER UPDATE

On October 23, the Confirmation class hosted a pasta dinner fundraiser to support the mission trip of Debra Bourque to Nicaragua in February of 2020. We thank all who came out to share in a time of food and fellowship. Through your generous donations we raised $1,477 of the $2,500 needed for the trip. A note from Debra follows:

I am so humbled by the generosity and support that you have all shown me. Some of you already knew me and some you just met me but you have all participated. You have shared your time, companionship, and your donations to help me reach the goals needed for this humanitarian foot care mission to Nicaragua which means so much to me. I am truly blessed to be part of this Trinity family.

With sincere thanks,Debra Bourque

Stir It Up! Reverse Offering – ALL Saints SundayNovember 3, 2019

Because it went so well last year we are again offering the opportunity to “stir it up” with a Reverse Offering. At the time of the offering on November 3, two plates will be passed. One plate to collect people’s offering, and the second plate with “Stir It Up!” envelopes that each contains a $10 bill. For those who may wonder, the money used for the “Reverse Offering” comes from generous donations and non-budgeted sources. Everyone in worship is invited to take an envelope from the plate—including the children. In our sharing of the Reverse Offering, we want to give each of you a special opportunity to think about how the Spirit may be stirring in your hearts. There are only two rules: 1. Use the gift for good. 2. Return and tell us the story.

Each of you will have two weeks to do something with your money. (An information letter will accompany the $10 gift next week.) And then, at our “Stir It Up!” Brunch on November 17, following our ONE service only at 9:30 AM, we will have a chance to share our stories. And, if you are unable to attend the brunch we still want to hear your stories. We invite you to share them with us by either writing them out or sending them via email to [email protected]. Join us on November 3rd then and receive your gift to use for the good of all!

active individuals and families who, although not ‘officially’ members, bring their faithfulness to this church and into the world. If you are one of ‘them’ and would consider ‘officially’ joining, please talk with Pastor Paul. And, if you are comfortable with your current status, we rejoice in your presence among us.

We are in the planning stages for Christmas and want to announce that, on Sunday, November 24, we will begin preparations for the Children’s Christmas Program. After all, if Christmas is about anything it is about:

Jesus being born! God’s love coming down to us!We, invite, then, all the children of the church to be part of our celebrating Jesus’ birth. Join us on November 24 and, then, on December 8 and 15 as we prepare and rehearse our program which will be presented in our worship service on Sunday, December 22, at a 10:00 AM service.
