The harvest

is plentiful . . .

Matthew 9:37a

Thanksgiving dinner at my Grandmother’s house could have been used as the definition of the word “plenty.” Though there was only eight of us at the table, there was enough food to feed 500 people. Huge Turkey. Stuffing. Mashed Potatoes (multiple containers)Green Beans. Rice. Yams. Cranberry Sauce. Rolls. This isn’t counting the appetizers BE-FORE the meal and the pies we often had (pumpkin, pecan, French silk, and sometimes others) for dessert (let’s not forget there was ice cream for with the pie). The food was plentiful. Always.

November is a month in which we give thanks to God for the harvest, for all the corn, soy beans, and more that is harvested by our farmers. We give thanks for the harvest of family and friends as we gather together around the Thanksgiving table. We give thanks for the joys of life that entertain us like deer hunting, football, and post-Thanksgiving shop-ping! November is a chance to remember all of our blessings and give thanks.

As Jesus tells us, the harvest is plentiful. There is much fruit out there. For us at Trinity, we know that harvest of faith and gifts is plentiful amongst you. It is no secret that at the end of September we found ourselves in a difficult financial situation. We knew the finan-cial harvest was plentiful but that it just hadn’t been brought in yet. When we called upon you, you answered in faithfulness and generosity. You filled our table with many good things.

We will still need your harvest to be placed as an offering on the table of God. We contin-ue to need your offerings so that we can have a strong foundation of ministry. We not only continue to need your dollars, but we also need your prayers, your willingness to use your talents, and the time you give as a servant in ways big and small. The harvest is plentiful because you are children of God filled with gifts, faith, and love.

The harvest is plentiful because God is generous and fills our tables with so many good things. Thank you for your willingness to share your blessings with Trinity and for all the ways you support this ministry! May you have a wonderful November and remember that the harvest is plentiful!

Yours in Christ, Pastor Brad

The following article was requested by Darlene Ramos to be published in our newsletter.

“Farmer to Farmer” is a locally-established nonprofit organization that has worked to better lives in Cen-tral America for 30 years. The group; with members from Menomonie, Glenwood City, Downing, Prai-rie Farm, and Connorsville; travels annually to visit and work with people in their homelands, purchasing highest-quality organic coffee beans. Product is shipped to the U.S. where it is roasted and marketed in our region.

The group has also formed a buying relationship with Guatemalan women, for hand-crafted textiles, jew-elry, purses and more, and operates a fully-stocked store in Maiden Rock. Profits from all ventures go to continuation of the group’s mission to assist hard-working folks trying to keep families together at home.

There is a local way to help. In Menomonie, coffee can be purchased at the Menomonie Market Food Co-op, The Raw Deal, and is enjoyed often at select local church gatherings.

“Farmer to Farmer” was founded by our neighbors and serves multi-faceted best intentions. For their full story and offerings, check out their website, www.farmertofarmer.org.

Dear Trinity Lutheran Church,

In these times of uncertainty when all non-profits, Churches and community organizations are struggling to find enough funds to keep afloat it appears that Trinity always comes through for West CAP in times of need! I want to thank you all for keeping the Weekend Meals Program in operation through your kind monetary donations and assistance with packing as well as the donations set aside for personal care prod-ucts.

We recently ordered 50 cases of shampoo and body wash thanks to your earmarked donations for per-sonal care products! Every dollar counts and we make it stretch as far as we can to provide for as many people possible. May you all have a blessed Autumn!

Warm regards,

Melissa J. Larson C.S.W Food Access and Resources Coordinator-West CAP, Inc

Fall Oktoberfest “Sip & Shop” Craft/Vendor Show

This year our kitchen sales were fantastic for the Craft/Vendor Sale. We had a profit of $590. We are up from last year about $125.

I just want to say a special “THANK YOU” to Sandy Wheeler for coming early in the morning before she went to work to help me get everything over to the school and to Shirl Hetzel, Marilynn Bartos, Julie Fisher, Deb Holmlund, and Carol Schlosser for working so hard in the kitchen. You guys never got a break when the crowd hit and when your shift was over you stayed there till the end. I can’t tell you how much I appreciated you being there to help me through the day!!

Thank you to the ladies that made the potato salad and the bars. We were sold out of almost everything. We are blessed.

Again, Thank you all so very much. You make my job so much easier.

Becky Nyhus

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!!

Another successful fund raiser!!!!! Thank you everyone who was involved with the Fall Craft/Vendor Show. The winner of the $250.00 gift certificate to Leissa’s Hair & Day Spa grand prize was:

Frances Harr from Cumberland! Congratulations Frances!!!!

A very special thank you to the following people for helping us make this such a successful fund raiser:

Becky Nyhus for organizing the menu and overseeing the kitchen and the Ladies of Trinity for making and serving food. The menu was a hit!!!

The Quilting Group for donating the two beautiful quilts (many wonderful comments on the beautiful quilts) and to Sharon Formoe for donating a beautiful quilt. The winners of the quilts

were: Lynda Bird, Sandy Wheeler and Patti Stevens.

The Boyceville Football players, Randy Schutz, Holly Coombs, Ron & Lee Peshaw for hauling tables and chairs and helping set up and tear down.

Darla for all that she has done for our group!

Pastor Brad for his support and for helping us get the word out about our event.

For you crafters/vendors who participated and for all of you who purchased merchandise from our wonderful vendors and/or purchased raffle tickets for the raffle prizes or the quilts.

Boyceville School District for allowing us to use their facility for our event. Their janitorial staff was super, so very helpful and kind. Thanks Mr. Kaiser for letting us use the sound system too.

And a very special thanks to our families, for helping us in our times of need!

Without you we would not be able to put on such a successful sale. It takes time and many hands, so thank you so very very much for your time and talent !!!!

If you are interested in being part of the planning committee for future craft/vendor shows, please con-tact Peggy Schutz @ 715-556-2414, Mary Larson @ 715-505-3326 or Sharon Formoe @ 715-702-2296. We would love to have your ideas and helping hand to continue to make our craft show grow and im-prove each year.

Also, if you are a crafter or know of anyone that does crafting and may like to be part of our future shows or if you know of a vendor that you think would be an asset to our show, please have them contact Peggy Schutz, Mary Larson or Sharon Formoe for more information on future show in 2019.

Volunteers Needed for Snow Removal

We need volunteers to remove snow from the Church entrances and sidewalks around the church lot. We have a snow blower for you to use. A sign-up sheet is on the table in the Narthex. Remember to check that the sidewalk and entrances are clear during the week.

For to the snow he says, 'Fall on the earth'

Job 37:6

The first Seabees (from Construction Battalions) were recruited by the United States Navy during World War II. They were skilled construction workers whose task was to assist in building naval bases in the theatres of war. In all, 325,000 men served as Seabees during the war. During World War II the Seabees constructed over 400 advanced bases, in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters. In the Pacific, where 80% of Seabees were deployed, they built advanced bases to defend the Aleutian Islands and to support American advances in the South Pacific - starting from the Society Islands - and in the Central Pacific, starting from the Gilberts, Marshalls, Carolines, and Marianas. The Pacific war often found the Seabees in close support of invasion forces, taking part in unloading supplies, and quickly constructing or restoring harbors, airstrips and other facilities on newly captured islands. Their role in such operations as the invasion of Okinawa was central in bringing the war to its close.

Thanksgiving is a time to share.

A roasted turkey stuffed with care,

potatoes, yams and buttered rolls

are passed around in festive bowls.

But first we thank our God above

and share with others his great love.

The dish served last is always best — a slice of pie for every guest.

—MaryAnn Sundby

No one has ever become poor from giving.
