Growing His kingdom… one student at a time Trinity Christian School
TRINITY STUDENTS, TOP THREE AT ACSI SPELLING BEE! Trinity Christian School students claimed the top three honors at the ACSI District Spelling Bee at Trinity Oaks Christian Academy in Cary, IL, Jan. 19. Luke A., 7th grade, took 3rd place; Timothy A., 5th grade, landed 2nd place; and Allison D., 6th grade, earned 1st place honors. This achievement earned each of them the opportunity to attend the ACSI Regional Spelling Bee in Indiana in March. Congratulations to them and the rest of our amazing spellers! Keep reading to see the way students progressed from the classroom level to the district bee.
Spelling bee season started with individual classroom bees. The 1st through 4th place winners were: 1st Grade: 1st place, Ashley P.; 2nd place, Ava C.; 3rd place, Kellyn M.; 4th place, Sofia F. 2nd Grade: 1st place, Alaina D.; 2nd place, Raquel W.; 3rd place, Darrius W.; 4th place, Brianna M. 3rd Grade: 1st place, Bradley O.; 2nd place, Graham M.; 3rd place, Joshua V.; 4th place, Madelyn F. 4th Grade: 1st place, Kendall T.; 2nd place, Landon H.; 3rd place, Leah S.; 4th place, Gabriella J. 5th Grade: 1st place, Timothy A.; 2nd place, Mason S.; 3rd place, Jackson M.; 4th place, Kenny C. 6th Grade: 1st place, Allison D.; 2nd place, William H.; 3rd place, Lindsay H.; 4th place, Emma O. 7th Grade: 1st place, Luke A.; 2nd place, Laci S.; 3rd place, Caiden H.; 4th place, Patrick M. 8th Grade: 1st place, Kaye G.; 2nd place, Alexandria M.; 3rd place, Ben C.; 4th place, Anthony F.
All of the first and second place winners then studied for the district bee. Right before they attended district, we held a final in-house spell-off for the 5th – 8th grade winners to prepare them for the final spell-off at the district bee. The 5th-8th grade final spell-off winners from this in-house preparation were: 1st place, Allison D.; 2nd place, Timothy A.; 3rd place, Kaye G.; 4th place, Alexandria M.
All of the first and second place winners from our classroom spelling bees attended the ACSI District Spelling Bee at Trinity Oaks in Cary, IL, Jan. 19., competing against students from 17 area schools. The students all did great and we were very proud of each of them as representatives for our school.
These students placed in their grade level bees at district. 2nd Grade: Alaina D. took 2nd place 3rd Grade: Bradley O. took 1st place 4th Grade: Landon H. took 1st place 5th Grade: Timothy A. took 2nd place 6th Grade: Allison D. took 3rd place 7th Grade: Luke A. took 4th place
The 1st through 4th grade students had completed their bees at this point. The top four students in each of the 5th through 8th grade bees had a final spell-off. This was a challenging bee. When the bee was finished, Luke A. had taken 3rd place overall; Timothy A. had taken 2nd place overall; and Allison D. took 1st place overall. It was amazing!!! Congratulations!!!
The top five students at the final bee were eligible to attend the ACSI Regional Bee which will be held March 16 at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, IN. The top five winners of that bee will attend the national bee in Washington D.C. in May.
We are very proud of the accomplishments of each and every student who participated in this event.

TRINITY PARTNERS WITH SCHOOL OF HOPE Mrs. Marnie Van Wyk, former TCS 2nd grade teacher, spoke at a TCS chapel a few weeks ago to give us an update on the
School of Hope, the school that TCS partners with in Haiti. Mrs. Van Wyk, Mrs. Benig and Mabel B., (along with nine other
folks) went to Haiti, Jan. 25-Feb. 3, to spend some time at the School of Hope. Mrs. Van Wyk conducted professional
development and evaluations with the teachers there, and Mabel and Mrs. Benig taught the students there about dental
hygiene and handed out toothbrushes and toothpaste. Thanks to donations of TCS student, each child at the School of Hope
was given a goody bag loaded with fun stuff! New Life for Haiti volunteers played games with the children and took
pictures of them for New Life for Haiti’s child sponsorship program. Five sponsors were able to actually meet the children
they sponsor. These children and their sponsors had so much fun getting to know each other! If your family is interested in
sponsoring a child or coming to Haiti on a short-term missions trip, please click on this link:
