The children should be proud of their attitude and behaviour, it was outstanding. Our Condolences

On behalf of the whole Trinity community we extend our condolences to Fr Brendan on the passing of his mother, Mrs Xavier Hogan, may she rest in

peace. Please keep Fr Brendan and all of his family in your prayers.

During this time of bereavement we will be continuing with scheduled prayer services at school rather than the scheduled Masses. Parents are welcome to

attend.

Dear Parents,

The Grade 4 students enjoyed a wonderful camp at Sovereign Hill last Thursday and Friday. They had the opportunity to immerse themselves in

the experience of living in the 1850’s and participate in many learning opportunities such as; panning for gold, a gold pour, a mine tour, an

educational session in a traditional classroom, Blood on the Southern Cross and shopping. The children should be proud of their attitude and behaviour, it was outstanding. A special thanks to Georgegina Nettleingham, Ange

Schinck, Andrea Berryman, Maria Scarton, Casey Watson, Liz Jones and Leisa Finkelde for organising and attending the camp, it is a big effort to be

away from their own families.

This week the students in grades 3 and 5 are completing their NAPLAN tests, results will be made available to parents as soon as they become available to

the school, usually around August. I strongly encourage you to be positive with your children about the test and reassure them that all that is being asked of them is that they try their best, unnecessary stress will not assist

their performance. When you receive your child’s results they should be viewed in conjunction with information and assessment results from your

child’s teacher who a have comprehensive knowledge of your child and evidence based assessment of their achievement level across all curriculum

areas.

Tomorrow the grade 3-6 children will participate in the Trinity Cross-Country, all students in these grades will need to wear their House colour t-shirt with their sports uniform. Years 4 and 6 will run between recess and lunch and

years 3 & 5 will run after lunch (to avoid clashing with NAPLAN). Thanks to the parent helpers who are assisting and Catrina Charman for her

organisation.

members, the next meeting is on Monday the 15th of June.

Last week we commenced our 2016 prep enrolments for new families. Again we are experiencing

pressure for places, if there are any current families who have not handed in 2016 enrolment forms we need you to do so asap. Whilst on the topic of prep enrolments we took some time this week to

ask some of our 2015 preps what they enjoy about coming to school at Trinity.

“I like all the learning we do, it is fun.” Sienna PN.

“I like playing maths games.” Harry PN.

“I like it when we go to computers, drawing pictures and have lunch orders.” Cody PN.

“At Trinity, I like doing our prayer every day.” Joshua PH.

“At Trinity, I like everyone going to Assembly and we sing the National Anthem.” Benjamin PH.

“At Trinity, I like learning about the alphabet letters and playing with my friends at playtime.” Shyan

PH

“At Trinity, I like learning and I like writing about my weekend.” Yuvika PH

"I love that when I go outside I can play soccer and that when I come here I learn new things." Caleb PW

"I love that I learned how to count to 100 and that I can play with my friends." Jada PW

"I love Trinity because all the teachers are so nice and I love the playgrounds." David PW

We are expecting that work will commence on the refurbishment of our school oval next week,

throughout the period of time that the work is being undertaken the oval will be fenced off. The

majority of the work will be drainage and re-surfacing to ensure that the oval can be used for twelve

months of the year.

Below are some reminders for parents;

I ask that parents please remain cognizant of the fact that the teachers’ car park is not a drop

off area and observe and obey the traffic signs within the school grounds. Students are to be dropped off and collected from the two front carpark spaces of the line-up where there is

adequate teacher supervision.

Students are not to be at school prior to 8.30am as they are not supervised. Staff are

participating in meetings prior to 8.30am or using the time to prepare for the day, therefore, supervision of students does not commence until 8.30am. We ask that parents please respect

the arrival time as it is for the safety of the children.

Children are not to be playing on the soccer pitch at the conclusion of the day as this is not a

supervised area. Any children that are on the playground equipment after school must be directly supervised by their parents and we ask that you please respect the bell at 3.30pm

signalling you to move your car as the gates are about to be locked.

In order for the school to be able to administer medication to students we require the Student

Medication Request form available at the office or on our website to be filled in and handed in

with the medication to the office.

In staff news we congratulate Samantha Willis on the birth of her daughter Mia Rose and Danielle Davis on the birth of her son Jensen Reilly. Both families are having a wonderful time enjoying the

company of their new arrivals.

Regards,

Simon Dell'Oro

iPad News This week it was the Grade 4s turn to work with the iPad Cart and myself. We discussed how to make smart

learning choices with the iPad and then we used the App iMovie to create movie trailers. The students worked in

groups and completed a story board for their ideas first. They then produced their movie trailers. The trailers

are great, if you get a chance log onto the Grade 4 blog and watch this learning experience, remember to leave

a comment.

BEREAVEMENT Please keep Fr Brendan and his family in your prayers at this sad time after the passing of his mother, Mrs Xavier Hogan.

PARISH FEAST The Parish Feast luncheon will be held on May 24th after 11am Mass in the Don Bosco

School Hall. As usual we rely on your generous donations to this great community celebration. We anticipate feeding around 300 people so please donate food and catering

items for this occasion by signing up at the back of the church, this weekend and next weekend. You can sign up to donate finger food, international dishes, salads, sweets, drinks

and various catering items and please WEAR RED as we are also celebrating Penticost.

Non-perishable items can be donated early by dropping off at the parish office during the week. Fresh food like sandwiches, cakes, sweets, etc can be dropped off to the hall after

9am. Hot food can be brought to the hall on the day any time after 11. For any enquiries please ring the Parish Office on 9704 7935.

PARISH CHILDREN’S CHOIR The Parish Children’s Choir has been in action for more than 3 years now. We have received numerous expressions of interest and queries from parents and children about the next

intake for the choir. That time has finally come. The choir is looking for children in the age group of 6 to 16 years who can sing. So, if you are a part of your school choir, or just

enjoy singing and would love to sing for God, we want to work with you. We will train you on how to sing with a choir and teach you new hymns. We will make it as much fun as

possible.

The Children’s Choir sings on the First Sunday of Every Month and choir practice is usually between 11am and 1pm on the preceding Saturday. Choir Practice is

compulsory. If you are interested, please assemble in the Church on Saturday 30th May at 11am for an “Open Mic”. You can sing any song of your choice. To keep it

simple and far, no backing tracks or instruments will be allowed. However, there will be a

guitarist to give you a chord, if you desire.

Please be aware that we do not offer any sort of formal vocal training and that we may also have to limit numbers based on the Open Mic, for OH&S purposes.

For any queries and clarification, please email [email protected] or call Clyde Netto

on 0400 275 362.

purchasing some tickets.

This weekend we celebrate the Feast of the Ascension. (when I was at school this was a Holy Day of

Obligation which was celebrated on a Thursday – Ascension Thursday- and we got a holiday from

school!) John, in his Gospel, does not record this occasion and we need to go to the other evangelists

to hear the account. However, the Gospel for this Sunday recounts Jesus praying for those he is

leaving behind. He asks his Father to keep his followers safe from the ‘evil one’ and to ‘consecrate

them in the Truth’. And so we pray: Father God, Jesus prayed to You for his followers many

years ago and we presume he is still doing the same for us today. He prayed for protection

from the evil one and for us to be consecrated in the truth. We need to co-operate with his

prayer for us – to make wise choices in how we conduct ourselves in our behaviour

and life-style. Our children watch us, see what we do, how we speak and they base

their behaviour on what they see in us. Help us to be good role models for our

children and to remember we are consecrated ( made holy) in the Truth.

We welcome any new members to the P&F Committee, it’s never too late to join us. If you cannot

make our monthly meeting, that’s ok, we love helpers on the day of our events. Joining our

committee is a great way to meet new people. Contact Melissa on 0416025494 if you are interested.
