ARIES (March 21-April 19): Whatever you can visualize, you can accomplish. You may relish every opportunity to employ creative energy in the week ahead. You have both the enthusiasm and the imagination to make dreams a reality.TAURUS (April 20-May 20): Let your fingers do the walking. Don’t be too proud to ask for help in the upcoming week. A problem can be solved, but your attitude toward the problem can prevent you from finding a solution.GEMINI (May 21-June 20): Vibrate with vision. You can think ahead and use your imagination to dissolve limits. In the upcoming week, use your stockpile of both knowledge and intuition to make wise choices about the future.CANCER (June 21-July 22): Expect to be more popular than usual this week. Those big, sweeping gestures will endear you to your friends, but you don’t need to spend every penny in your piggy bank to impress real friends.LEO (July 23-Aug. 22): Sympathy is the instrument to create a symphony in perfect harmony. Exude understanding and compassion during the week to come and watch people change their tune. It is prime time to start key projects.VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22): Crack the code. Your mind can grasp the most subtle details of a business deal. In the week to come, you can use your brains and your brawn to get key projects accomplished.LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22): Get out your crayons, coloring book, scissors and paste. You will receive a chance to be more creative than usual. You possess enough energy to pursue both hobbies and career objectives this week.SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21): You are getting better all the time, in every way. This week might be a good time to begin a health program or to get in touch with your spiritual side. A little self-discipline will go a long way.SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21): People may be grateful for unsolicited advice, but some prefer to think on their own and draw their own conclusions. During the week ahead, be sensitive to areas where you may create dependencies.CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19): Take a peek at an emerging situation through someone else’s eyes. Your home base might be a beehive of activity in the week ahead and you might need to shed some preconceived notions.AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18): Running away from your problems is a race you will never win. Your piggy bank might only contain pennies now, but dollars will add up quickly. Changes to your finances might be permanent.PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20): If you focus on ways to get inspired you won’t get tired. Even the most mundane jobs will have something that can raise your spirits. Exercise your compassion, not your wallet, in the week to come.

the next hardest mineral on Earth, they are quite brittle and can be shattered by the single blow of a hammer. And if a diamond is placed inanovenatatemperatureof1405°F(763°C), it will disappear without leaving so much as an ash behind.

• About 250 tons of earth must be mined toproduce a single one-carat diamond. Over 130,000,000 carats weighing 57,000 lbs.(26,000kg)ofdiamondsareminedeveryyear– a value of about $9 billion.

HEALTH CARE’S MISSING LINKAs a family chiropractor, there is nothing more rewarding than to see the positive changes in the children and adults that we care for. Problems like asthma, ear infections, constipation, menstrual pain, Headaches, and many others.

But wait a minute! Isn’t Chiropractic for sore backs? How, on earth can a Chiropractor help such problems? Let me illustrate how Chiropractic can help, because so often it is the missing link in alleviating such problems.

Here is how the largest, natural, fastest growing, drug free system of health care, Chiropractic works:1) Our bodies are self-regulating and self-healing organisms. For instance, what is your liver doing right now? Do you have to think about it? NO – our liver works because we have an Innate Intelligence that knows how to keep us healthy.2) The master controlling system of our innate intelligence is the nervous system. Everything in our life is under the influence of the nervous system, for example, how we digest our food, fight disease, as well as interpret and respond to the environment around us.3) Any interference to the nervous system will result in our inability to heal and regulate bodily functions. The most common interference to the nervous system is due to subluxation (misalignment) of the vertebrae that irritate the nerves and cause far-reaching chaos in our system.4) The intent of the Chiropractor is to locate spinal subluxation, gently adjust the spine to remove the nerve interference, and allow Innate Intelligence to heal from within.Spinal Subluxations can be due to many factors, most commonly: birth trauma, physical trauma, mental/emotional stress, and even chemical stress. When people are given the chance to have their nervous system feed their body without interference they live an amazingly healthy life with large reductions in their risk to pain, dysfunction and disease.

Lifestyle suggestions for people suffering from allergy-Seasonal

Seasonal allergies, sometimes called “hay fever” are allergy symptoms that occur during certain times of the year. The immune system treats pollen as invaders and releases chemicals such as histamines, into the bloodstream to defend against them. The extra histamines released are usually characterized by sneezing, itchy skin and eyes and runny noses etc. Pollens that are spread by wind are usually the main cause of seasonal allergies.Spring allergies are a result of pollen from trees, which can start pollinating anytime from January to April

Late spring and early summer allergies are typically due to grass. Direct contact with grass can also result in itching and hives in people who are allergic to grass pollen.

By late summer and early fall it will be weed pollen that may affect those with seasonal allergies. On the other hand pollens from bright colored flowers that rely on insects to reproduce do not generally causes seasonal allergies since their pollen is not usually present in the air.

Workable Lifestyle Suggestions:• Keep windows closed from 3-10a.m.to prevent pollen from drifting into your home.• Keep your car windows closed when driving and remember to change the pollen filter.• Avoid mowing the lawn and freshly cut grass. • Avoid drying laundry outside – pollen sticks to wet objects easily• Acupuncture may be able to stimulate the immune system and control allergic reactions• Natural remedies such as Stinging Nettles, goldseal, grape seed extract, quercetin may be able to relieve symptoms for some sufferers • Use nasal wash to reduce allergens it also helps thinning of mucous in the nose• Hot, spicy foods will also thin out mucous secretions, which in turn can clear nasal passages.

Life is given; Lifestyles are ChosenStay tuned for next week’s Lifestyle Bits to find out about Vigour Health and Beauty’s Lifestyle suggestions for those living with other non-seasonal allergy.

How to make the most of a small outdoor space

(NC)—You don’t need to have a huge backyard or even be an expert gardener to enjoy a green oasis or fresh produce this summer. According to Mark Cullen, Home Hardware’s Gardening Expert, even those with limited space have the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors by following a few simple tips:

Create Your Ideal OasisThe best way to maximize your small space is to determine how you would like to spend most of your time outdoors, whether that is entertaining, playing with the kids, relaxing, or gardening. Your answer will determine the layout and will help you prioritize which elements to incorporate. Great features for small spaces include folding or stackable patio furniture to maximize the area, solar lighting for ambiance, and a trellis for natural privacy and a sound barrier.

Vertical GardeningVertical gardening is a great way to maximize space. Plant stands and hanging planters are useful for not only freeing up ground area, they also provide an eye-catching decorative element to your garden and minimize weeds. Planters can be used for vegetables and herbs – and if you would like an additional space-saving solution, take a look at the Mark’s Choice Hanging Tomato Planter. It is true that 90 percent of the success of plant health is the result of soil nutrition. It is therefore worthwhile to invest in a high-quality soil mix specially formulated for use in containers to maximize plant growth.

WaterPlants that are not rooted directly in the ground and are exposed to direct sun and wind usually need water more often. Invest in the Self-Watering Patio Planter - designed for growing plants in tight spaces, this planter will ensure your plants remain hydrated even when you are away. Another space-saving option that will help keep your garden healthy is the Mark’s Choice Self-Draining Clear Hose, which shrinks to a third of its width after use and is freeze proof and kink resistant.

DIAMONDS (continued):•A diamond’s value is based on the “Four

C’s” – carat weight, clarity, color, and cut. A diamond’s carat is not the same as that of gold. Pure gold is considered 24 carats, while onediamondcarat is0.007055oz.(200mg).Not all diamonds are clear. The presence of impurities causes the gems to vary in color, as can heat or irradiation. Nitrogen in a stone produces a yellow color, while irradiation mightproducegreen.Blue, red, brown, pink, orange, and even black might result from the presence of both irradiation and heat. Clear diamonds are the highest grade and value.

• Diamonds lose about 50% of their originalweight during the cutting and polishing process, changing a rough stone into a faceted gem. One diamond weighing two carats is worth double that of two one-carat diamonds. About 75% of all diamonds sold worldwideare round cut. Other popular cuts include the football-shaped marquise, the pear cut (which are rounded on one end with a tapering point on the other), and the emerald cut, a rectangular shape with cropped corners.

•Althoughblue, green, andpinkdiamondsareextremely rare, they are not the rarest gems. That honor belongs to the pure red ruby. Diamonds themselves aren’t actually rare at all, with thousands mined every year.

• The world’s largest diamond was found inSouthAfricain1905.DubbedtheCullinan,it

Making sure Rover isn’t a driving distraction

By Glenn Cooper

(NC)—Most people don’t think twice about grabbing their pet to take a ride in the car, to run some errands or to visit friends and family. However, with an increased focus on distracted driving and overall driving safety, there is growing concern about pet safety in the car.

“Many people overlook the potential distraction that a pet can be, especially if they are loose in your vehicle,” saysAchiel Goossens, the senior manager of auto claims with Aviva Canada. “They can distract you from the road, impair your vision, and even attempt to climb on you while driving. This is why pet safety in cars is so important. Properly securing your pet will ensure both you and your pet are safe.”

There are a number tips that drivers can follow to ensure their pet is safe and secure when they go for a ride in the car. They include:

• Don’t let your pets run loose in the car.

• Don’t let your dog hang its head outside the window.

• Secure your pets using a pet friendly seat belt or safety harness.

• Small pets should be crated at all times.

• Avoid letting your pets sit on your lap when driving.

• Never leave your animal in the car unattended, especially in the summer months.

• Consider installing a dog barrier in your vehicle if you have a hatchback, van or SUV.

There are already enough things that require your attention on the road, and you pet should not be one of them. For more information contact your insurance broker or go to AvivaCanada.com.

• The legendaryHopeDiamond is a 45.52-caratdeep blue stone famous for a supposed curse upon its owners. Its blue color is attributed to trace amounts of boron and nitrogen within its composition. When exposed to ultraviolet light, it produces a red phosphorescence, a “glow-in-the-dark” effect. The curse alleges that the gem brings tragedy to all who own it or wear it, but it’s likely that the stories were fabricated to heighten the diamond’s mystery and consequently, its value. Roi was a stray boy who was living on a rooftop. A kind person brought him into Katie’s Place as that is no way for an animal to live. He adapted to the shelter life right away and enjoys human attention, although we have noticed that he prefers female visitors to male visitors. Roi is a beautiful boy but his sad eyes tell us that he must have had a hard time living on the streets. He is very gentle and easy going and seems to get along well with the other cats in the pen. He would probably do well in a home with another cat and even a small, mellow dog companion. Roi really loves cuddles and being brushed and this tells us that at some point in his life he must have been someone’s beloved pet. Roi needs a loving

home where he can once again be loved and cared for. Come meet Roi and see if he’s the companion for you. Purrsia is a beautiful girl, on the outside and on the inside. She really is a lovely, sweet girl and we are

shocked that she has not been adopted yet. We think the problem may be that cute little Purrsia tends to be a bit shy during the busy Open House hours when potential adopters come to visit. Because of this few get to see the her beautiful face and sparkling personality. Once the shelter quiets down Purrsia re-appears and shows her affection by rolling around and reaching out for pets. She’s so wiggly it is hard for us to get a good picture of her. She came to the shelter because her family could no longer provide a stable home life. Her previous owners told us that she loves to play and lived amicably with two dogs. She loves to be brushed. She loves to be near you but not on you, and she loves to talk. If you want a well adjusted, beautiful girl who will fill your days with love come meet Purrsia.

Q: Our 10-year-old Shih Tzu recently started snoring, and now it’s getting worse. She snores just about every time she sleeps. If I we wake her when she begins snoring, she just starts up again. Is there something wrong? We’re not getting any sleep!

A: If you haven’t already done so, see your veterinarian to rule out an obstruction in the dog’s throat, such as a growth, or even a toy. “Maybe the problem has worsened as your dog has gained weight,” says Dr. Mark Russak, of Berlin, CT, president-elect of the American Animal Hospital Association. “Just as weight gain may be associated with snoring in people, the same is true for dogs. Snoring is also more common in dogs, such as Pugs, with short snouts.” “If your dog is overweight, the snoring will likely decline as your dog takes off the pounds. Your veterinarian can advise you on a weight-loss strategy,” says Russak. “Otherwise, consider moving your dog out of the bedroom so you can sleep. But I understand that is not likely advice you’ll consider. After all, my wife would more likely move me out of the bedroom before she moves the dog. Have you tried ear plugs?”

“DJANGO UNCHAINED’’: No stranger to generating controversy with his work, Quentin Tarantino did it again - and earned an Oscar for his script, with another going to Christoph Waltz, who also had won best supporting actor for Tarantino’s “Inglourious Basterds’’ - for his revisionist, often violent adventure set in the pre-Civil War era. Jamie Foxx plays Django, a freed slave whose quest to rescue his wife (Kerry Washington, “Scandal’’) from a sinister plantation owner (Leonardo DiCaprio) prompts him to team with a dentist-turned-bounty hunter (Waltz). Samuel L. Jackson and Walton Goggins (“Justified’’) also star. ***

“A MONSTER IN PARIS’’: With a highly descriptive name, this animated fantasy offers marvelous visuals - especially with its backdrop of the City of Light in the early 1900s - and a fun plot. A clumsy trio wreaks havoc in a laboratory, resulting in the title creation. The monster isn’t necessarily fearsome, as demonstrated by his knack for music, but an ambitious police chief still targets him. Vanessa Paradis and Sean Lennon provide speaking and singing vocals, with Catherine O’Hara, Bob Balaban, Adam Goldberg and Danny Huston also in the voice cast. ***

“THE HAUNTING IN CONNECTICUT 2: GHOSTS OF GEORGIA’’: Lest there be confusion from the title, Georgia is the state where this very familiar sequel to the earlier horror film unfolds. Chad Michael Murray (“One Tree Hill’’) and Abigail Spencer (“Oz the Great and Powerful’’) play a couple who relocate with their young daughter (Emily Alyn Lind), only to find their new residence plagued by spooky and ultimately threatening doings. Katee Sackoff (“Longmire,’’ “Battlestar Galactica’’) and veteran actress Cicely Tyson also star. DVD extras: theatrical trailers; “making-of ’’ documentary; audio commentary by director Tom Elkins, writer David Coggeshall and co-producer Brad Kessell; deleted scenes; outtakes. **

“WINGS OF LIFE’’: Part of the Disney nature documentary series (“Chimpanzee,’’ “Oceans,’’ etc.), this examination of the daily world around us focuses on its relationship to such creatures as bees and butterflies, which pollinate nature. Meryl Streep narrates the film, as various forms of cinematography are used to illustrate a series of environmental cases of cause and effect. ***

“NOVA: BUILDING PHARAOH’S CHARIOT’’: Given that title, and the fact that this is an episode of the PBS science series, it should come as little surprise that the reconstructing of the vehicles used by ancient leaders and warriors - see “Ben-Hur’’ - is the essence of the program. What’s especially fascinating is the number of supposedly modern features the original chariots incorporated, including anti-roll bars and shock absorbers. Archaeologists and engineers are among those who work on the project. ***
