Carlo Tizzano, 17, has been selected to play in the Australian Rugby Union Schoolboys team When did you start playing rugby? I started playing in Year 5 at Hale School and made a transition to the Trinity rugby team in 2016. What position do you play? I was a centre last year but in 2017 I played flanker. What inspired you to play rugby? Definitely my family, mostly my parents because when things became hard or challenging they would encourage me to keep on going and never give in. What has been your greatest achievement? When I received a call asking me if I wanted to train full-time with the Western Force to get into the Future Force. Who do you look up to? I look up to Matt Hodgson from the Western Force. He has been an inspiration and really looked after me when I started training with the Force. How do you feel about the Western Force getting cut from Super rugby? I am going to be be upset if the Western Force gets cut because there will be no rugby in WA at a State level and I would have to move away, which wouldn’t be good because I would miss my mum’s cooking. I would really hate to move away from my friends and family. By the end of your career what do you want to achieve? I’d like to be playing international rugby for Australia or Italy. How much time do you spend training? I train every day except Sunday. What qualities do you think you need to fulfil your dreams? You have to be dedicated, work hard and never, ever give up. Picture: Carolyn Watson WINNER BAILEY HARBOUR Aranmore Catholic Primary, Year 6 T he Bermuda Triangle is a mysterious section of the North Atlantic Ocean roughly bounded by Miami, Bermuda and Puerto Rico. It covers about 500,000 square miles of ocean This particular section of the ocean, has picked up ships, planes and people and they have automatically disappeared. WHAT HAPPENED? At least 50 ships, 20 planes and 1000 people have disappeared with no good explanation in the Bermuda Triangle. Once someone, or something enters the Bermuda Triangle, all navigation is lost, so that no one ever finds out where they have gone, or what has happened to them. In this Triangle, there have been sightings of strange yellow fogs that have never been further looked into. Even in good weather conditions, (sunny and not so cloudy) boats, ships, people and planes have still disappeared without any radioing distress messages. CRYSTAL PYRAMID There is believed to be, in the waters of the Bermuda Triangle, a crystal-like pyramid. It is also believed that the pyramid has two big holes at the top that suck the water inwards (towards the pyramid) very quickly, and causes a whirlpool at the top of the water. I also think that the crystal pyramid is creating a magnetic suction which is pulling objects in. It could also just be that the whirlpool is so strong that it is pulling things in, and once that “object” is pulled in, it loses all navigation in the water. DID YOU KNOW? After gaining widespread fame as the first person to sail solo around the globe, Joshua Slocum disappeared on a voyage in 1909. Though it is unclear what exactly happened, many people think it links to the Bermuda Triangle because he was sailing around that area at the time of the disappearance.
