Greetings,

In 1994, our community’s dream of building a free-standing cancer center became a reality thanks to the hard work, determination and vision of so many generous people like you. Today, our community has a cancer center with state-of-the-art technology, experienced, professional staff, and a multitude of support programs not often found in most communities.

These programs and services, aimed at addressing the physical, financial and emotional issues that come with a cancer diagnosis are offered at no-cost to anyone in our community who is dealing with this devastating disease thanks to generous donations to the Tri-Cities Cancer Center Foundation.

Your generous contribution this year helped the Center address the increased demand for additional services for patients and their families.

In 2012, the Center added a Palliative Care Program focusing on the relief of symptoms, pain and the stress of serious oncology-related illness through care coordination and caring for the patient’s spiritual and emotional needs.

The Center also launched a Breast Patient Navigation Program, designed to address and support the many unique needs that come with breast cancer diagnosis.

These programs, in addition to our Patient Navigation Program, Resource Center, Library and community services, like no-cost screenings and educational programs, are fundamental in building a healthy community.

Thank you for your continued support of the Foundation. You are making a difference in the lives of cancer patients and their families here in the Columbia Basin.

Warmest Regards,

Rick Millikin Elizabeth McLaughlinFoundation Board President Foundation Director

Tri-Cities Cancer Center Foundation2012 Annual Report

T R I - C I T I E S

The PearsonsGreetings,

On July 22, 2011, I heard the words no one ever expects to hear, “you have cancer.” I was 36-years old and I was diagnosed with Stage-4 glioblastoma.

That is where my experience with the Tri-Cities Cancer Center began, and since that first day, my family and I were welcomed by the staff and treated with caring and hope. The Staff was just absolutely fantastic; I received such good care from the Cancer Center. They were so upbeat and positive, which is really helpful when you are facing a disease like this.

The services provided at no-cost, like Nurse Navigation and the Kids Konnection program have made such a difference in dealing with all of the challenges that come with a diagnosis. Nurse Navigator Karen Dubois’ support and knowledge have helped so much; she is always there to answer my questions and never leaves me sitting in limbo. And my children loved attending the Kids Konnection. It really helped them understand what I was going through.

The Cancer Center was a blessing. If I had to travel outside our area for services and treatment it would have interrupted family time, which is my number one priority.

Thank you for donating to local cancer care at the Tri-Cities Cancer Center. It has made a huge difference to me and my family.

With much appreciation,

Josh Pearson

Founded in 1996, the Tri-Cities Cancer Center Foundation serves as the fundraising arm for the Center. Donations to the Foundation stay local and are used to provide valuable non-reimbursed cancer programs and services for patients, their families, and the community.

Foundation Annual Events

Run For Ribbons | Last year on March 17th, over 1000 runners and walkers attended the Foundation’s 3rd annual Run For Ribbons at Howard Amon Park in Richland. Over $50,000 was raised to support the needs of the Cancer Center. We are excited to continue this event tradition in 2013 on April 27th!

Annual Fund-Raising Breakfast | On April 26, 2012, community members gathered to “Make A Difference” at our annual Fundraising Breakfast, generously sponsored by the Mission Support Alliance. The donations raised at this event, totaling more than $70,000, will be used to fund programs at the Tri-Cities Cancer Center which are aimed at providing necessary support to cancer patients and their families, and to continue our awareness efforts. Thank you to Tim Doyle, emcee extraordinaire and to Josh, Liz, Emma and Joey Pearson for sharing their story with over 500 attendees.

Tri-Cities Cancer Center HAPO Golf Classic | Nearly $60,000 was raised last year at the HAPO Golf Classic! Thanks to a generous commitment by HAPO Community Credit Union, who supports this tournament as title sponsor in perpetuity, participants enjoyed many fun games and prizes, awesome tournament apparel and delicious margaritas at the Cancer Center Cantina! Thank you to the many businesses and individuals who supported our efforts! The 2013 HAPO Golf Classic supporting the Tri-Cities Cancer Center Foundation is August 23rd!

Autumn Affair | Another outstanding 2012 Autumn Affair Benefit Auction was held on November 10th to help fund programs designed to support individuals and families dealing with a cancer diagnosis. Led by the Platinum Sponsor, CH2M HILL, individuals and businesses from around the region gathered to raise an amazing $215,000 for the Tri-Cities Cancer Center Foundation. Among the evening’s highlights was a generous contribution of $30,000 by HAPO Community Credit Union to support services for patients and their families. This year the event is November 9th at the Pasco Red Lion Hotel!
