TRENDS 2019One of the biggest design considerations today is perhaps the lack of space. So how does one ensure efficient space allocation without compromising on luxury and style? Our homes in 2019 may be getting smaller, but they would also be smarter, more structured, greener and luxurious.

In the following pages, we show you how to achieve that perfect harmony, with top tips from architects and designers.

WORK IN STYLE

Home study areas, which can be used by both children and adults, should facilitate concentration and deeper thinking. The concept of open workstations will be in trend in 2019, and this could mean creative utilisation of cosy corners in the house.

“The study room is a space that should reflect a person’s character and individuality. It should be organised, furnished and decorated in a way that allows the user to feel comfortable and productive and shouldn’t include distractions. However, this doesn’t mean it has to be completely sober,” Sapna Aggarwal, Creative Director of ANSA Interiors, says.

for adults to use it as a home office. A provision for its expansion should be kept as per the requirements, as the child advances to college from schooling,” Aggarwal says.

Smart design solutions in 2019 will see a rise in contemporary and experimentative pieces of furniture for the study room. Fold away desks, for example, will be excellent investments for smaller rooms. Instead of ornate designs, 2019 will see minimalistic study rooms. However, forget boring standardised bookshelves or cabinets. These will come in funky colours and shapes to rightly reflect the user’s personality. Adding of accessories and accents will create an energetic look and welcoming ambience. It is important to make the study room a rational and steady space as it will enable the occupant to spend more time here.
