Key Notes from WGSN on the trend

• In analysis of both the spring/summer 2013 and autumn/winter 2013/14 catwalks, pink is confirmed as a key addition to the women's fashion palette, emerging at a directional level across the entire footwear and accessories product offer

• The all-over application of a single tone is the newest message for colour usage, with colour-matched hardware and embellishment an important direction for detail, emphasising the monotone look

• Soft ice-cream shades of pink remain key for autumn/winter 2013/14, evolving into illuminated and saturated bright tones for spring/summer 2014, as forecast in the seasonal colour edit

Why I chose the trendI chose the trend as I know that pastel is going to have a big influence with the next Spring/Summer season, and have noticed a lot of designers producing various shades of pink in their accessories, including shoes. This makes the items more versatile which appeals to a wider market which wouldn’t normally choose to buy pink. Also, it’s not a trend that has particularly interested me, and by going out of my comfort zone of normally much darker tones, I can learn about the trend from a non biased view and in depth.

What am I going to research the trend?

- Looking into other sources, not just WGSN, but library books, Spring fashion reports, vogue.com/style.co.uk- Look into the history of Marc Jacobs- What pink can represent - whether it’s a particular emotion or time period. Colour from 50s culture? - The relevance of the colour now- How common it is with other designers currently.
