Service is provided to residents and businesses covering approximately 400 square miles of Sacramento and Yolo counties. On an average day, the system handles about 115 million gallons of wastewater. The SRWTP is an 800 acre facility located on a 3,000 acre site and a permitted capacity of 181 MGD average dry weather flow. Currently, it is a conventional activated sludge treatment process, but a biological nutrient removal (BNR) process will be commissioned in 2021 to comply with updated permit requirements. In 2023, a tertiary treatment process will begin operation to produce reclaimed water for delivery to off-site customers.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

decisions and build stakeholder support Demonstrate keen interpersonal skills Be responsive to challenges and opportunities

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering; one of the biological sciences; environmental science; business administration, public administration, finance, or accounting; or in a closely related field. Experience: Four years of full-time experience in the class of Senior Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineer, Treatment Plant Operations and Maintenance Manager I, Mechanical Maintenance Manager, Operations Supervisor, or Water Quality Control Systems Supervisor (or in a comparable class in another jurisdiction) supervising/managing operations, maintenance, or related engineering support work at a large complex regional wastewater treatment plant such as a computer controlled facility utilizing oxygen activated sludge for secondary treatment or three years of full-time experience in the class of Principal Civil Engineer or Principal Engineer/Architect (or in a comparable class in another jurisdiction) supervising/managing related engineering support work at a large complex regional plant as described above.

Desirable: Possession of a valid Waste Water Treatment Plant Operator, Grade V, from the State Water Resources Control Board; and/or Possession of a valid certificate of registration as an engineer issued by the California State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers.

Annual salary range for this position: $165,453 to $182,408

(The position receives a 3.35% management incentive and allowance in addition to the base salary.)
