Yes, it all begins with the golf course. When Cantigny

Golf opened in 1989 it was recognized by Golf Digest

as the “Best New Public Course in America.” More than

25 years later, we are pleased to still be regarded as

one of the finest public golf facilities in the Midwest.

Designed by Roger Packard, Cantigny’s Woodside,

Lakeside and Hillside nines weave their way through

native oak, maple and hickory trees, over and around

lakes and streams. The signature hole is Lakeside

No. 9, named “Dick Tracy” after the fairway bunker that

resembles the famous comic strip character. The unique

bunker is one of several features on the course that

that pay homage to Colonel Robert R. McCormick, the

long-time editor and publisher of the Chicago Tribune.

He passed away in 1955 and designated his 500-acre

Cantigny estate as a gift to the community.

P O L I C I E S + P R O C E D U R E S

E V E N T B O O K I N G P R O C E D U R E S A $2,000 deposit is required. A signed contract must accompany the deposit to reserve the date and both must be received by an agreed upon date. The deposit is applied toward the final bill.

C A N C E L L A T I O N P O L I C Y The golf portion of your event may be cancelled up to 120 days before the event without penalty. If cancellation occurs less than 120 days before the event the $2,000 deposit is forfeited to Cantigny.

Food and Beverage: Expenses incurred by Cantigny in preparation for a confirmed golf event become the responsibility of the guest. Golf events cancelled less than 72 hours before the event will be assessed full price on all perishables.

R A I N P O L I C Y In the event of rain, you are responsible for the golf played. For example, if the event is rained out after 9 holes, you will be charged for 9 holes. In the event of a complete rainout, you will not be charged for golf. You may be charged for any special merchandise ordered and/or perishable food items ordered through Cantigny Food and Beverage as per the Banquet/Catering Agreement.

A D D I T I O N A L C H A R G E S A 7.25% sales tax is added to all food and non-alcoholic beverage prices unless a tax exempt letter is provided prior to or at the time of your event. A 21% service charge is then added to your bill.

R E G I S T R A T I O N Your Cantigny golf event coordinator can help you select the ideal location for your registration area and ensure set up upon your arrival.

P R A C T I C E F A C I L I T Y Complimentary range balls at the Cantigny Golf Academy are included for your guests. The Academy also features practice greens for putting, chipping and sand play.

G O L F I N S T R U C T I O N / C L I N I C S Give your group the opportunity to learn more about the game! Cantigny’s PGA golf professionals are available to conduct brief clinics on putting, chipping, driving or other aspects of golf. Your golf event coordinator has all the details.

P U T T I N G C O N T E S T S Golf outing participants love the chance to win prizes! Putting contests—such as a short obstacle course or long putt competition—are easy to conduct and fun for all players.

D R E S S C O D E Event organizers are responsible for notifying and ensuring that all event participants adhere to the Cantigny Golf dress code. Shirts must have collars, shorts must be Bermuda length, no net-style or t-shirts and no halter tops. Cantigny reserves the right to refuse play for improper attire.

E V E N T P L A N N I N G T I M E L I N E Because of high volume event activity during the height of the golf season, all event planners must meet with the Cantigny golf event coordinator by May 1 to plan their golf events including all food and beverage details.

• 31 days prior to event: Maximum number of players due (consecutive tee times only)

• 30 days prior to event: Bag tag order due (logo, text and total number needed)

• 30 days prior to event: Final menu due

• 7 days prior to event: Final count due for food and beverage

• 1 day prior to the event: Final pairings due

PA I R I N G A N D S C O R I N G Player pairings are due one day prior to the event. Your golf event coordinator places the groups appropriately on the golf course. Cart signs, scorecards and bag tags will also be produced based on the pairings you provide. Your coordinator can accommodate most last minute changes on the day of the event.

Your golf event coordinator can help you choose the most appropriate format for your event. Cantigny staff will score the event based on the format you choose. Scoreboards are posted during the social hour and dinner, and a full list of winners is presented for your awards ceremony.

If you are hosting a charity event, this is a good way to raise money for your cause. Rate: $200 per professional.

H O L E C O N T E S T S Closest to the pin, longest drive, straightest drive, longest putt and other contests can be arranged to make your event even more fun. Your golf event coordinator can help you pick the best holes for each contest. Hole-in-One contests may also be arranged. Please ask your coordinator about Hole-in-One packages which include cars, signage and insurance.

R E N T A L C L U B S Cantigny Golf offers the finest rental club selections available. Advanced reservations are required. Rate: $50 per set.

S P E C I A L O R D E R M E R C H A N D I S E Treat your guests to a golf shirt, jacket, golf balls or other merchandise branded with your company’s logo and/or Cantigny logo. Your golf event coordinator will help you select and order the perfect gifts and prizes.

P H O T O G R A P H Y Please ask your Cantigny golf event coordinator for a list of photographers for your event. Your guests will appreciate a picture of their foursome, taken on the course during their special day at Cantigny Golf.

C A D D I E S Enjoy the walk without the lifting. Cantigny Golf is proud to offer our guests the services of our exceptional caddie program. All caddies are Cantigny trained, 14 to 21 years of age and still in school.

Make your guests feel extra special by treating them to one of several caddie services:

• VIP foursomes - special treatment for special guests

• A forecaddie for each foursome to track errant golf balls and help pace of play

• A spot caddie at more challenging points on the course to minimize bottlenecks

Rate: $50 per caddie, including tip

Cantigny receives no monetary compensation for our caddie services—100% of caddie fees go directly to the caddie. Through our caddie program, which is rare for a public golf facility, we are committed to offering meaningful employment opportunities to area youth.

Cocktail Parties All golf events require a private bartender. The bar fee is $100 per bartender for each bar. Your golf event coordinator can work with you to determine the location and the number of bars to best meet your group’s needs.

Cash Bar Your bar is set up with a selection of the most popular house, call and premium beverages, domestic and imported beers, premium house wines and soft drinks.

Host Bar Your guests are provided with an open bar for as long as you specify. At the end of the event, the tab is calculated according to drinks consumed and a 21% gratuity is added.
