vivaldi The Four Seasons
nielsen Symphony no. 2 (The Four Temperaments)
Acclaimed for his “vibrant tone” and “superb technique,” HAl GROSSMAn returns to perform Vivaldi’s ever-popular Four Seasons, a musical interpretation of the natural world — from winter’s chill to a captivating thunderstorm. nielsen’s stunning Symphony no. 2 broke the mold of traditional symphonic structure through a series of adventurous modulations.
I was so impressed by his musical and
technical work as well as his
gorgeous sound.

Mozart piano Concerto in F Major Bach Keyboard Concerto in d Minor Ravel Le tombeau de Couperin
Called “one of the most perceptive and provocative pianists of his generation,” classical music legend and famed pianist peTeR SeRKin debuts with the TSO. Mozart’s piano Concerto in F Major is a challenging work that combines grace with vigor, while Bach’s Keyboard Concerto in d Minor is one of the composer’s most jubilant. The reflective and light-hearted Le tombeau de Couperin reaches the pinnacle of Ravel’s considerable orchestration skills.
In his hands, even the most formidable works
are fluid and expressive.

in a continuation of the FiReWORKS series, MAeSTRO RHOdeS celebrates the life and work of Beethoven with his heroic Leonore Overture no. 3 filled with fire and action and the beloved Pastoral Symphony — the very first symphony to depict a story in the form of a visit to the country — conveying a continuous sense of joy and wonder at the beauty in nature.
painter delBeRT MiCHel brings music to life inspired by the sounds of the orchestra with an improvisational visual experience created on the stage before your very eyes. Chamber music and the area’s most talented young pianists round out the program. COnCeRT

James piano Concerto Copland Appalachian Spring stravinsky Firebird Suite
Two-time Grammy winner and recipient of numerous Grammy nominations and accolades, BoB JameS, a prominent artist in the jazz world, debuts his newly composed piano Concerto with the Traverse Symphony orchestra.
Copland’s Appalachian Spring, one of the most archetypically american works, captures a vast emotional world through irregular jazzy meters, playful rhythms and bold percussion orchestrations.
The TSo lights a musical fire with Stravinsky’s vigorous and exuberant Firebird.

For many of his fans, Bob James is to jazz what James Brown is to R&B — the music and the musician go hand in hand.

Maestro KeVin RHOdeS accompanies the cult classic silent film “phantom of the Opera” with his improvised score on piano and keyboard. Called one of the greatest silent horror films of the 1920s, lon Chaney is the quintessential phantom with his horrific, self-applied makeup as he haunts the paris Opera House.
