    Ponte Vecchio, Florence, Italy

Florence, or Firenze as the Italians call it, is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Thats myhumble opinion. It is a small town, but it makes up for the size with its unique cultural heritage. This is panoramic photography of the oldest bridge in Florence, Ponte Vecchio (old bridge intranslation).

Ponte Vecchio was built in 1345. In has always hosted shops. Initially it was full of butcheries, butsince 1593 it is home to several gold merchants and jewellery shops. Above the shops, on top ofthe bridge is the Vasari Corridor. This was a restricted passageway used by de Medici familymembers (they ruled Florence for a long time!) in order to cross the town from one palace(Palazzo Vecchio) to another (Palazzo Pitti). Vasari Corridor was something like a secret passagethat anyone new about!
