SureSave transforms PDSTRAVEL insurer SureSave has
this morning formally launched a new Product Disclosure Statement, which the NIB-owned business claims is “set to revolutionise the industry”.
The new PDS describes policy cover in terms of ‘events’ that can happen to travellers before or during their trip, “breaking down otherwise complicated policies into a simple and easy guide to travel insurance, using clear visuals,” said SureSave national sales director, Talbot Henry.
“For added convenience SureSave’s PDS has more new features such as a redefined medical cover, where customers with existing medical conditions can apply for and receive cover.”
The new SureSave policy allows customers to start with essentials
and add on optional extras, with Comprehensive and Basic plans available for international pax, along with plans for domestic and annual frequent travellers.
All policies provide 24 hour emergency assistance and a travel safety app, and the insurance is now available to Australian permanent residents, NZ passport holders and 457 visa holders.
Henry invited agents to engage with SureSave and see for themselves how different the new policy is.
“Our research shows that travellers trust the advice of agents more than ever before, so the role of the agent is crucial when selecting the right policy”.

Crown ‘solid performance’CROWN Resorts this morning
revealed its profit results for 2015/16, with the reported net profit after tax down 11.8% to $393.6m before taking into account extraordinary items.
While the majority of the company’s revenue relates to gaming, hospitality was also a key contributor, with the three Crown Melbourne hotels combined reporting $452.7 million in non-casino revenue.
Occupancy at the flagship Crown Towers Melbourne property was a healthy 97.1%, while Crown Metropol achieved a 92.4% occupancy and Crown Promenade’s occupancy was 93.6%, reflecting the “very strong demand for luxury hotel accommodation in Melbourne”.
Crown is currently planning a new ‘six-star’ hotel in Melbourne in partnership with the Schiavello Group (TD 12 Dec 14), which is
subject to a planning application. The firm’s Perth hotels were
also full over 90% of the time.Legal action continues to
overshadow the Crown Sydney project, which has been approved but has had the decision of the NSW Planning Assessment Commission challenged.
Crown said it would “defend these proceedings vigorously”.

inaugural ‘Tourism Marketing Rockstar Convention’, members from across multiple sectors of the travel industry have converged at the Royal Automobile Club of Australia in Sydney today for an immersive full day event put together by the team at MyTravelResearch.com.
Over the course of the day, attendees will be taken on a step-by-step journey through aspects of evidence-based marketing planning, harnessing the latest trends and insights into tourism marketing.
Taking the stage this morning to kick start the convention, Carolyn Childs co-founder and ceo of MyTravelResearch.com said: “quite often marketers are keen to get involved in the new stuff, but they forget the fundamentals. This conference is about striking the right balance”.
The convention pays specific attention to how to build a strong brand, managing brand reputation (particularly in the online environment) and developing personas of customers, a type of identity, which helps marketers tailor their offering with greater relevance.

Hotel data breachPAYMENT card data from tens
of thousands of food, drink and other transactions may have been implicated in a data breach which effected 20 US hotels operated by HEI Hotels & Resorts for Starwood, Marriott, Hyatt and Intercontinental.
HEI spokesman Chris Daly said the malware was discovered in early to mid Jun on payment systems used at restaurants, bars, spas, lobby shops and other facilities at the properties.
He said it was difficult to ascertain exactly how many customers were affected because they may have used their cards multiple times.
Outside experts investigated the breach and found that customer names, account numbers, payment card expiration dates and verification codes may have been stolen by the hackers, reported Reuters.
It follows similar data breaches at Hyatt Hotels and Starwood in recent months.
